The eCOS app made it easy to do my onboarding with my solicitor. Super simple process to verify my ID - much better than having to go into office to be verified.

Appalling and intrusive. I have poor mobile signal so frequently had problems receiving codes. I had given family member some money towards house purchase but the degree of questions i was subject to were totally disproportionate.
No indication at beginning of what documents would be required. The ones they wanted were not instantly available.
I have no guarantee they will delete my bank statements or ID info.
The whole process took me all afternoon when i had other important things to do but i was given to understand that not doing it today would mean my relative would lose mortgage offer.
In the end, i know they asked the wrong questions so they have all my bank accounts and income details but the money came from premium bonds I've had for years...no way of showing this.

We rely on InfoTrack for legal security and client ID verification, including biometric checks, which are inherently complex and must meet stringent compliance and fraud prevention standards. In that context, the robustness of their system is not just beneficial—it’s essential. While some clients do occasionally find the app challenging to navigate, this is often a reflection of the necessary security layers rather than poor design. Identity verification at this level is never going to be entirely frictionless, and a degree of user interaction is unavoidable.
From an operational perspective, their support has been consistently excellent. Queries are handled promptly, and there is a clear sense that their team understands the practical realities of legal workflows. This level of support makes a tangible difference when you are processing a significant number of clients through the system.
Importantly, InfoTrack demonstrates a genuine commitment to continuous improvement. Feedback we provide is acknowledged and, more importantly, acted upon. Updates and refinements to the service appear to be driven not only by internal development goals but also by real user experience, which is encouraging.
Given the volume of clients we process and the regulatory complexity involved in biometric ID verification, our overall experience has been reliable and effective. While the user experience may not always feel seamless for every client, the trade-off is a secure, compliant system that performs its core function well.
In our view, the broader criticism does not fully reflect the realities of delivering a secure digital identity service at scale, nor the quality of support and responsiveness that InfoTrack provides to professional users.
We would also like to especially mention Laura at InfoTrack who is always ready to listen to our comments and really goes above and beyond ensuring we feel listened to, and sorts out any issues we have without delay.

Like all technology platforms (eCOS), unless you and your life fit into their little tiny boxes designed by some non-user sitting in an ivory tower with limited life experience, the system is frustratingly annoying to use. Where technology kills service!

Utter garbage. What could they do to make it better - how about rewriting it from scratch and getting their senior management to test it.
A very bland response to my original review. I think something along the lines of this is what we’re doing AND we’re getting our senior management team to do some testing before we make anyone else use it

Absolutely abysmal app. Spent all afternoon trying to enter details. Very slow, won't accept info if there is something not correctly entered but it doesn't pinpoint the specific issue, kept losing data already entered, finally system hung for an hour trying to complete final form. In frustration turned phone off, then back on, got message saying all forms complete & they were with the solicitor! If this is how I'll have to communicate with my solicitor god help me.

We are told repeatedly to not give out or download bank access apps or software that can access your a/c for risk of theft or identity fraud. Very risky to give bank account access to a company or app i dont know. Requests far more info than i believe it needs. If it's hacked or breached you could lose everything. Simply not worth it.

Trying to buy a property. Got sent this junk app. Can't complete the process as I get an 'Error' message. If you were not forced to use this app - which exists to help solicitors buy another helicopter/solid gold shark tank - it would earn about 20 pence on the app store. It doesn't work and your data is probably send straight to India to create another 500k 'British Passports/Driving Licences'. Encapsulates modern UK life perfectly. Give me your money and shut-up (or Kier will send you to jail).
Whilst this app might be great for legal professionals and administrators, and possibly inexpensive, my experience as a property purchaser is deeply disappointing.
Key point is the inability to upload a pdf; like a prostitute without.....you can complete yourself...
In other news, it is 1825, and I've just boarded a train at Darlington for a journey to Stockton (where I'm buying my flat.....)
The process was unbelievably inflexible, regularly demanding specific information most convenient to them and obscuring options for alternative or nuanced inputs. Additionally will ask for far more information than necessary in a process which takes multiple hours and naturally leaves concern about person information privacy. Extremely unclear about what information is actually needed at every step and gives no basically no information what each next page will ask you to provide until you're actually on it, making you have to stop regularly to source cumbersome (and likely unnecessary) additional details.
Using this online ID-checking company was a serious mistake. The app and website are poorly designed and unreliable, but that is the least of the problem - I very much regret having done that.
The real issue is the reckless centralisation of extremely sensitive personal data. If this system is breached—and history shows that breaches are inevitable—then everything is exposed: passport and driving licence details, facial data, bank account, birth records, and National Insurance numbers. This is not a minor inconvenience; it is a blueprint for identity theft.
A criminal with access to this data could impersonate you entirely: drain your accounts, take out loans, sell or clone your car, interfere with your pension, or even establish companies in your name using your credit history. The personal, financial, and legal damage could be devastating and long-lasting.
Handing over your entire identity to a single online provider is dangerously naive, and companies offering such services should not be trusted with data of this sensitivity. If you value your identity, your finances, and your future, do not use InfoTrack—or any online ID-checking service like it.
Every time I tried to submit a selfie photo or passport photo for id verification it kept saying Error.
Have spent hours going round and round and round this krazy loop.
Will now have to journey across the country and visit the Solicitor in person to prove my identity.
Useless App, couldn't get it to work correctly as every time I tried to submit a selfie photo for id verification it kept saying Error. Not smooth or easy to use either. Having read other reviews on here I'm not even sure how safe it is so will be finding an alternative way to submit the necessary information. Total waste of time.
I started to fill in the form for something: uploaded my ID card photo, my selfie photo, bank statements... Then it asked for 12 months of transaction history for two bank account? What the hell?!
I did not go any further with this as I did not feel safe giving all this information.
Avoid if you can!
We are currently trying to buy a house despite the fact out solicitor uses the Infotrack eCos system which requires an app on a smartphone. My first comment is use a different solicitor because the Infotrack eCos is so badly designed, buggy and unreliable. My experience is that software so badly designed and implemented is easy to breach. Look at Jaguar Land Rover who still cannot get into their system. The other weakness of such a centralised system is that it is a hackers dream since it requires your up to date bank account details , birth certificates, marriage certificates, passport, driving licence and pension fund details - perfect for identity fraud e.g. a fraudster could impersonate you, take your house, money and pension fund and also sell your car and clone it and take out loans and startup companies using your name and credit record!
Who thought of having an online anti money laundering system with centralised collection of data in private hands?
If ever there was a system that needs rethinking it is the anti money laundering system.
Talking of poor design it seems you can’t leave a zero or minus score on TrustPilot!
Spent 2 full hours completing what was given as a Proof of Identity questionnaire with docs to my Solicitor as I live some way away from their offices. This questionnaire turned out to be a complete intrusion into every corner of my life - passport, take a selfie to accompany, driving licence, utility bill AND a recent bank statement. In the details section I needed to uplift a copy of my Marriage Certificate from 55 years ago?? - the wanted my National Insurance Number - details of my previous employment - a further copy of Bank Statement and to list sort code and bank account number and branch. I needed to proceed with the matter at the solicitors, but now feel as though my life details is up for grabs to the highest bidder. So the solicitors have got proof of identity and Infotrack have details of every aspect of my life, not just my identity. BEWARE if you want to keep your personal details personal.
Total overeach, I took hours to fill in the boxes on the badly designed app just to show that I gave my son a GIFT to help purchase the house. So much irrelevant personal information was demanded including ACCESS to ONLINE BANKING which is a total breach of online security. So I had to print out and photograph every page of my bank statements for 12 months!! I feel totally violated by this overeach. Just think what would happen WHEN, not if, this complany has a data breach.
Would advise using a conveyancer that does not use Infotrack. I spent hours inputting information which shouldn't be necessary. I questioned with solicitors who referred me to Infotrack, who only support at certain times. I eventually changed solicitors. Much prefer human contact and not having to provide my life history.
Horrible. Lazy, ill thought out, poorly described, poorly functioning website and process
