Too many reasons to never go again, especially with children. Extremely disappointing and concerning.
If Lidl were to create a festival, this would be the result of it - a lesser quality ‘rip off’ of a branded product (that clearly trying to be Glastonbury), and don’t get me wrong we love Lidl saving, but the difference here is that you are still paying Waitrose prices for everything!! Where do I start… to keep it in the supermarket analogy - the Audio is like someone bought it in the middle aisle of Lidl, it’s dreadful, the sound design and tech is not great and doesn’t suit the size of the festival. The security company are dreadful (ironically called rocket or something similar - but couldn’t be a slower useless bunch of individuals), we witnessed them being over the top at points and entirely vacant when really needed and they are often needed! I think the crux of the review of this festival is that it’s poorly run, poorly managed and lacking any consideration (as an example - no pedestrian walk ways back to the car parks at night, leaving lines of moving cars maneuvering between walking families in the dark!). Billed as the UKs largest family festival, I can’t help but wonder where that stat comes from, I can only assume based on the percentage of hoards of gangs of drunk teenagers in groups of their own, generally acting like knobs, perhaps that brings the child age percentage to allow the ‘family’ statistic that the MC/announcers love to drop throughout the weekend. Our son had a small bag of sweets taken off of him when entering, in an aggressive way (as if it was a bag of drugs rather than haribo) - how family friendly is that? Then there is the weird picnic chair trend of the main arena - not like any I have seen at any festival before - the arena is strewn with thousands of circles of fold up chairs, often not even sat in, to mark their territory like a scene out of Benidorm (but picnic chairs rather than towels on sun loungers), where the day starts with groups setting out their pitch for the entire day. Only to then have evening announcements that the entire arena must be a chair-free zone. Absolute chaos! It also just lacks atmosphere as this weird amphitheater of camping chairs doesn’t make the arena feel like a festival but instead a giant sat down garden party. Overall I’d say, anyone who has been to Glastonbury and in it together will make the links where the in it together have clearly been inspired (desperately tried to mimic) Glastonbury but without the knowledge, budget or organisation and they should have just tried to do their own thing - as it is quite simply over sold and made out to be so much bigger and better than it actually is and it results in a festival that leaves you frustrated, disappointed and with a fear of perhaps something serious happening one day due to the lack of organisation and security. We won’t be going again that’s for sure - such a shame to have to write a negative review about a festival right on our doorstep and one we’d love to support.
