I really like the concept of inventor.io training and supporting hardware. Building on previous software and hardware designs reinforces the complete learning experience. While having a moderator is beneficial, creating scenarios that are “stretching” reality can be distracting and frustrating. I may be a little biased after 36 years supporting Space Shuttle and Space Station Operations & Training in Houston. The current “Space” related theme is probably great for the younger newbie crowd but distracting for those with any experience programming or building hardware. I will say that before I started this course I had no experience using OLED displays. Now I am thinking up new ideas for using them and rethinking some existing projects. Any new “take aways” from a training course are win-win.

I received my kit and got straight to work. And got stuck within a couple of episodes. (My breadboard did not match exactly to the one in the video.) I went back and carefully listened again. The info was all there to complete the project, even if it didn't match exactly. I also got stuck on episode 5 where we pick our own project. I felt this was a bit premature as we had only learned how to use switches to light some LEDs. I even have an arduino book but had a hard time finding a project that required only the components included in the kit. So I skipped it. And I expected more of a story to make it fun but it's minimal. But I am learning how to use the arduinos and am looking forward to completing it. Thank you for not forcing me to complete the project in only 30 days as I've taken much longer than that.

I bought this to teach my 7 year old grandson a little about electronics. He wants to work on it whenever he comes over. The kit itself is a great starter, what makes it exciting for him is the video series giving it a back story. Keep up the good work

I'm 62 and three years into retirement. My previous coding experience was job-related and included Web Authoring & Design, learning html, css, and javascript. I was looking for a hobby that would continue to keep me mentally challenged and engaged. I wanted to jump back into coding, so the 30 Days Lost in Space Adventure Kit seemed like the perfect fit. The course design and hands-on experience of coding and building circuits with the HERO board is perfect for the beginner and has so far exceeded all my expectations. I look forward to this Arduino journey of exploration!

I've been doing the 30 days lost in space course on the website. I've reached the days involving the rotary encoder and I've noticed something peculiar. When I went to compile and upload the code for the 7-segment display counter controlled by the rotary encoder, I noticed that a clockwise turn decremented the number and a counter-clockwise turn incremented the number, instead of the other way around as the video explained. All of my circuitry was correct as was my code, since I had copy-pasted, but the discrepancy still existed. When I swiched the connections for the CLK and DT pins on the Arduino, the system worked as it should have. I did some testing on my own comparing the data sheet of the encoder and found that the encoder I was given in my kit has the CLK pin as signal B and DT as signal A, which is opposite from what is given in the data sheet and the lesson video. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but this means that either the data sheet and the video are wrong and need to be updated, or I my encoder was wired incorrectly, in which case inventor.io should verify with their manufacturers to make sure the components being sent allign with the data sheet.
Besides this issue, inventor.io has proven to be a great resource for those interested in microcontrollers and embedded systems, and for that they deserve mine and others' praise.

I've thoroughly enjoyed using the "Lost in Space" robotics kit, and even as an adult have found myself learning a lot.

There are other training modules out there but this one is the most fun because it is well documented and has a background story to make it fun.

Fast shipping, great training videos (30 days lost in space). Reasonable quality parts. Great kits for introduction to the hobby.

The tutorials are well written and work fine. the progression (so far) has worked well for me. I'm an adult entering this hobby, so the dry presentation is ok. however, were I a 12-year-old just thinking about electronics, the lack of a developed story line would drive me away. the story line is there but frankly you need an actor. you need a person who thru voice and visual content encourages the "astronaut" to fix their craft or they might die! build a little tension! so my recomendation is that the program is great BUT you need a script writer and an actor to perform the teacher role.

This is a great idea, super easy to get started and follow along with.

Lost in space kit was bought for our kids for Christmas. Still at lesson 1 as the instructions/videos are fast and a bit vague. On Chrome OS the board has to be disconnected/reconnected with every upload. Didn’t work at all with windows. Turned out to be the biggest disappointment for Christmas rather than a new learning opportunity for our kid who has really gotten in to coding.

Save your money and just let your kid download Scratch.

Unresponsive to queries as to where my parcel is. Called UPS and provided tracking number from Inventr and was informed it was not a UPS tracking number.
Checked link again and "final" address appears to be incorrect. Have been waiting 4 weeks for this parcel and disappointed that I appear to not be receiving it and company not interested in resolving. Was meant to be a gift for a college lecturer who I'm sure would have purchased more for his class if suitable.

I have replied to your email, in fact I've sent you 3 emails (22/23/25th Jan) and 2 contact forms (24th/26th Jan). You have my details. Refund the order.

The hardware is fantastic, and it is utterly RUINED by the painfully boring and slow videos.

As an adult, I can't even make it through a single video, it is so slow, dull and boring. My 12 year old has absolutely no desire to watch more than 2 minutes.

A 27 minute video describes an activity that could literally be described in 5 minutes... but no, the man in the video talks in a slow, monotone voice... it is like torture. Think 'Catholic priest who is also bored'. By the end of each 27 minute video, I hate the sound of his droning voice, and I end up hating the entire experience. If it wasn't so expensive, I wouldn't submit to this at all...

It's such a shame, because as I said, the hardware and concept are fantastic! I don't know if this is the owner doing the videos or what... and maybe there wasn't anybody qualified to tell him he needs to hire somebody else... ANYBODY else... but they really screwed it up by selecting this engineer to be the main narrator.

Two stars lost because it advertised that it would be an epic "lost in space" adventure, but the only learning thing is a bunch of yt lectures.
That's fine if it wasn't for the frequent "good job! You've learned x! You are on your way to getting off this planet!"'s every few minutes.
The story is very... half-hearted to say the least, but at least you learn stuff from this.

Very unresponsive. I email lots a time to change my address but nothing. I try to cancel my order and still nothing. So make sure everything or else. I email from November 15 to December 10 and nothing and now my package is going to the wrong address. The support is tge worst.

I purchased their lost-in-space kit in early November to get ahead of the Christmas rush. I received a notification that it shipped reasonably quickly.

However, weeks went by, and still no package. Tracking showed that it hadn't been updated in weeks so I reached out to customer service. I received a generic response not acknowledging my concern that shipping hadn't been updated. Basically saying here's the info, you figure it out.

I replied that I needed them to open a case with UPS regarding the package - AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN.

Here we are now coming up on Christmas, and I'm shopping for another present for the same person because of this disaster. Shipping accidents might be out of their control but customer service is not.

Awesome! I've been looking for something like this for a while, and this is perfect! The parts are super nice and the course is very cool and helpful! Thank you guys so much for doing this! Super excited!

Could someone help me find the story or lesson that goes along with the kit? It there a printable link in an email? I am in hopes the story (journey is very engaging. I have spent this much for an Elegoo kit that had 100 projects. Please help me finding the missing part.
