Beware. Useful software and developers can be sometimes be helpful with bug reports, however, Perpetual doesn’t mean Perpetual. It seems that although my Support and Update agreement has expired, I am no longer entitled to get access to the version of the software I paid a license for, nor the license key that I paid for.

"As a licensee, you were entitled to download the software and receive updates free of charge until 30 Oct 2025.
Your license remains valid, and you may continue to use the software. However, the availability of the download and the license key was not unlimited. Their provision was part of the support you received for the period you selected at the time of purchase.”

Windows Storage settings was showing that I had around 200GB of apps, even though when I added it up with a calculator, it didn't come to nearly that much. I found out about TreeSize and downloaded it, within a minute I worked out that Fortnite was hiding in an Epic Games folder in Program Files, despite the fact I was sure I'd deleted it! Would definitely recommend TreeSize, I used the free version!

I’ve been a customer of TreeView since 2009. In the process of upgrading to a new PC, I needed the installer for my current version so contacted support. Their response was a flat ‘buy maintenance’. So I have to buy a maintenance contract to download an old version that I had previously paid for and had a perpetual licence for. Seems the good and helpful company of 2009 has been upgraded to one wholly focussed on taking more of your money.

Ich bin ein langjähriger Nutzer von SmartPOP2Exchange und habe am 29.02.2024 einen Update-Support über 36 Monate verlängert.
Am 21.06.2024 - 4 Monate später - hat JAM Software den Support für Windows Server 2008 R2 und Windows 7 entfernt und damit jeden weiteren Update für mich unbenutzbar gemacht (es gibt Gründe, die einen Update auf ein neueres OS verhindern).
Das (wie auch die Verfügbarkeit weiterer Updates) wurde den Kunden aber leider nicht - wie gesetzlich vorgeschrieben - mitgeteilt, wofür sich der Support entschuldigt hat.
Dass sich der aktuelle Update auf ein inzwischen nicht mehr unterstütztes OS überhaupt installieren ließ, ist nur ein weiteres Problem am Rande, ebenso wie JAM Software am 24.03.2025 immer noch mit der Unterstützung von Windows Server 2008 R2 und Windows 7 wirbt (Screenshots verfügbar).
Mein Frage nach Beendigung des nutzlosen Support-Vertrags wurde ebenso abgelehnt trotz Anspruchs nach § 327o (3) BGB.
Auch der Hinweis vom Support, ich solle doch auf ein noch unterstütztes OS upgraden und ansonsten bei der alten Version von SmartPOP2Exchange mit fehlenden Bugfixes bleiben, zeugt von einer Ignoranz dem Kunden und der geltenden Gesetzeslage gegenüber.
Wenn mir das Thema wichtig genug wäre, dann würde ich meinen seit 1.1.2022 bestehendes Recht auf Updates (EU-weit normiertes Verbraucher-Softwarerecht) rechtlich durchsetzen, aber so belasse ich es bei diesem Text, der hoffentlich dem einen oder anderen Leser die Risiken aufzeigt.

I have been using the free version of TreeSize for many years and recently decided to switch to the paid for version.
The features that you get with the paid for version, for me anyway, really justify the cost.
However, when I discovered a problem, the paid for version really proved its worth.
After some discussion with the support team, they set up a Teams session and we walked through the problem until a solution was found.
What more can you want??

Treesize is amazing.

This app really is the fastest one even in the free version.
If you want to check what takes up most of the data in your HDD well this is the app to go with.
I am using the free version and within seconds I can see what folder has the most data in.. so I can delete if necessary :)
also possitive is that the version I use (free one) has NO ad whatsoever for a big + for me.
For a start user its fine :)

Ich kenne diese Firma schon viele Jahre und die Software ist auch ganz gut, außer das bei Fehlern meistens das ganze erst mal abzuklären ist.

Früher gab es auch einen tollen Support, hatte man Probleme und ging etwas nicht, wurde sich mal 10 Minuten Zeit genommen und auch mal per Bildschirmfreigabe geschaut.

Heute ist das alles unmöglich, selbst wenn man fragt ob man geholfen bekommt, wenn es nicht läuft, bleibt man in der Service Wüste Deutschland stecken...

Ich bin enttäuscht, kann seit 3 Wochen keine Lastschriften einziehen und soll jetzt die Software verlängern, ohne das ich einen wirklich Support erhalten würde...

Wer diese Software noch nicht nutzt, sollte sich erst mal nach Alternativen umschauen, ich kann dieses Philosophie nicht unterstützen und gut finde ich es auch nicht.

Mir bleibt wohl auch keine andere Möglichkeit als die Software zu verlängern, aber langfristig werde ich nicht nach einen anderen Partner in dem Bereich umschauen.

Be aware Jam Software charges additional sums via a maintenance package to provide you with the said updates. Its pay the fee or be left behind. As Jam Software updates are frequently updated you are quite quickly left with a legacy software
