Good local gym and PTs
I wanted to start a gym to meet my goals so I went to my local gym. little did I know how much bang for my buck I would be getting. the location is good and has a lot of parking, the machines are well kept and in large numbers for the ones that get used all the time so there is no waiting and they even have classes included in the base price as well as 24-hour access which for me works as I prefer to go later in the day.
eventually, I wanted to look for a PT and I was leaving I realised they have a board of recommended PTs that work there in that gym making it more convenient for myself. the person I now have as my PT made me feel very comfortable as this was new to me and they know their stuff and how to get me to where I want to be and I'm already seeing results in the little time I have been there. i highly recommend David Thomas for anyone looking to get started at Shrewsbury or online.

It’s very clean & tidy & you always see…
It’s very clean & tidy & you always see a member of your staff moving around, I have one gripe though! As a disabled person a ramp outside the main door would be so helpful to the wheelchair bound people.

Induction help
Great access system and facilities but need some help in getting started and understanding equipment. I see there are induction classes and will try to get in on one.
Everyone joining no doubt has their own reasons and objectives. Mine is to reduce age related stiffness and leg weakness and generally maintain flexibility, muscle and bone strength. Limited aerobic exercise is also on my list. If when joining newcomers could indicate, perhaps by online questionnaire their own objectives then perhaps JD Gyms might recommend a programme of exercises and equipment to get started?

An excellent gym with very good…
An excellent gym with very good equipment and friendly helpful staff. My only issue is the showers. Whilst they are clean and well maintained you can very rarely get a hot shower. You have to run the water for 5 minutes, which is a waste of water resources, before you get a lukewarm shower. If they would fix this I would give them 5 stars.

Most of the good personal trainers have…
Most of the good personal trainers have left the gym which is such a shame because all of the originals personal trainers were the best, they don’t have many cleaning staff there, you can tell where things are grubby such as door as you come in the building, staff dont seem to have the time to chat or come across as approachable can never get on the equipment that you need. Things have changed in this gym and not in a good way.

Its gone downhill
It’s a great simple gym, it’s just dirty and no one tidies up anymore. I’ve rejoined and the standards have slipped massively in comparison to when I was there 2 years ago. The showers & toilets smell of urine, the cleaner dry mops them. There’s loads of equipment now missing, such as rope, small weights etc for the cable machines. The accessories that are there are so old and just gross, or completely broken.
I appreciate that the customers should put the weights back, but the staff don’t either. They aren’t in order, they are all over the floor or just not anywhere to be found.

Our teams complete regular checks and work with our suppliers to ensure our small equipment/cable accessories that get used regularly are kept up to a high standard. Great Gym
I've been a member here since it was branded as exercise 4 less. The gym has a huge selection of resistance machines with more variety than most premium gyms. With it being open 24hours it is very convenient. The new manager listens to customers and has been actively improving the gym this year, with improved cleanliness and machine maintenance. Parking is a bit tight but that can't be changed. On the whole a large, good, clean gym at a budget price.

Joined 2 wks ago and the place is really clean staff are very pleasant there's plenty of machines so virtually never stood waiting and the spin classes are really good also. Only slight niggle is sometimes i have found the internet in there patchy so unable to get out through the QR code as it wouldn't load to open barries had to get a member of staff to open them

Too many broken cardio machines at…
Too many broken cardio machines at Shrewsbury, for example at Shrewsbury gym there are 6 upright exercise bikes and five are broken, and my fellow gym goers say they have been broken for at least 4 months.
Bicycle racks needs to be better. - There is just one rack, the small cheap ones that just lock the wheel just at the bottom are a joke and you would only risk a scrapheap bike there.
Very friendly staff, my fellow gym goer said he has tried every gym in Shrewsbury and some in Telford and he said this is the best, I am yet to see if it is better than Pure.
The music isn’t too loud- and it’s not to my taste but that is subjective.
Today there are 6 treadmills out of action, and one stair master and one cross trainer.
This gym would undoubtedly be six stars if the machines all worked.
Much better changing rooms than Pure, and loads more lockers, a bit of a luxury to ask for buy need some couches to crash out between exertions.

As much as we are disappointed to only score 3 stars, it is great to know we would be worth a huge 6*s if we can get our cardio all up and 'running' in Shrewsbury and to hear how you rate our team there.
Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment is fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can. The JD Gyms Team 💚
Clean and Friendly staff
Been going to the gym for a while however just recently I have noticed how clean the gym is getting, its great to see the cleaner on the gym floor and in the changing rooms.
Its a great atmosphere staff are really friendly and the music has got much better recently.
Great gym overall would recommend
