Visited the Jolleys High Wycombe store on Tuesday, 22nd July to pick up a few items for my pets.
At the till, I was greeted by friendly, professional staff who created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They were polite, helpful, and clearly passionate about both their work and the animals they support.

During checkout, I was offered a £1 “must-sell” treat marketed for small animals. I purchased a few without hesitation, trusting the store’s recommendation. However, once home, I noticed the treat contained egg — an ingredient known to be unsafe for guinea pigs and many other small pets.

This is deeply concerning. Products promoted for general "small animals" should never contain ingredients that are harmful to a large portion of those animals. Clear labelling and proper staff training on species-specific needs are absolutely essential. Pet owners should not be expected to double-check every product for hidden risks, especially when the item is actively recommended at checkout.

It’s a real shame, because the staff themselves were excellent — kind, patient, and doing a fantastic job with the tools they’ve been given. They deserve better support from management to ensure pet safety isn’t compromised.

Unless changes are made — including better product vetting, clearer guidance, and the removal of unsafe treats from the shelves — I won’t feel confident returning.

Every pet owner deserves to shop with peace of mind, and the hardworking staff deserve the resources to make that possible.

I have used this store since it opened around 2008, it has had a few owners over the years all have been very good, sadly, the current owners are hopeless, low on stock, deliveries rare, quality of products available very poor, feel very sorry for the staff, they get the customers frustration, we have to go elsewhere to buy the things we want. Please wake up Jollies owners or you will go bankrupt.

The staff are extremely friendly and very polite. It is easy to find what you want. Great selection of everything.
The only downside is the raw frozen food I buy for my dog is so popular they keep running out. They have great offers but they didn't have enough stock to get the offer.
