5 Stars is not enough, I was lost, struggling to find a solicitor that could help with my motoring problem, I Had an accident and was found to be uninsured, although I thought I was as the insurance company had given me a policy number but had not processed it properly. Jeanette helped me through the process and WON against a major insurer.

I contacted JS Miller who’s sister company is Geoffrey Miller and had free advice
regarding teenage sons RTC. I was advised the best option would be Stand-by package. £4200 incl VAT. I now don’t know if this package was right. It may have been fine for something like Death by Careless or Death by Dangerous driving as these cases would likely need much more work, but this is just my personal opinion and I may be wrong. I think it was the fact that I was told “it’s whether you want to invest in us now in having my team as true experts in this field, possibly getting rid of it before it gets underway” that made me choose this firm as I mistakenly thought there was a possibility that they could get rid of it. I was probably naive as never dealt with anything like this before.
The case was allocated to a solicitor who was very professional in her job and was very pleasant to deal with.
What I don’t feel happy with is the cost. Included in the package was obtaining son’s medical records but Im not sure why they were needed as we already had a discharge summary and knew the injuries. I feel this was money wasted. Also, I feel the accident site report was a bit of a waste as it was taken very late (2months after), so any tyre marks etc had gone and it didn’t seem to add any value to the case.
I know it is in hindsight but I do think the price was expensive compared to some others, but was feeling vulnerable at the time. I do regret paying that amount now as I had to borrow the money and I’m now in a lot of debt, but I did want my son to have good representation at the police station. I have since found out it would cost about £500 or £600 if I had organised a police station advocate myself. It was a no comment interview which took 15 minutes but the advocate provided by JS Miller was good and had been briefed beforehand.
There was conflicting advice about giving out phone PIN to police and at first was advised not to give it and then was advised by sons solicitor they had changed their mind and best to give it so not to delay things. The police station advocate had advised not to give it at all so this was very confusing. Had the PIN not been given so freely there may have been a chance of not getting SJP notice as I believe they have a 6 month time limit and 5 months had gone by the time it arrived.
I had already found out myself from the police OIC that he was considering Dangerous Driving but in the end he was charged with Careless Driving which is a better outcome as there was insufficient evidence which we were pleased about.
JS Miller advised by email they would need another £3000 incl VAT to attend Single Justice Procedure sentence hearing which I just could not afford. I have spoken to 2 other firms that solely deal with motoring offences who were surprised how much I had paid so far.
I am now paying £780 for a consultant solicitor to attend my son’s mitigation/sentence hearing from a different firm that specialises in motoring offences. My advice would be to get a number of quotes and take 48 hours to think first. Don’t rush into things as I think I did, especially if you have limited budget. I don’t doubt JS Miller knows their stuff and are very profesional but they are very expensive in my opinion.
I was advised to amend the review by this solicitors firm as they said it was defamatory and I have been threatened with legal action. I didn’t realise this was the case and I apologise for this I am not trying to damage the reputation of JS Miller as suggested. They were profesional throughout. I have given 3 stars mainly because of the cost and that I was advised that another £3000 was needed for continuation of guilty plea. I have since been advised by them that this was an error and would be £1250 plus VAT. We had already instructed another firm by then which is stressful in itself having to go through it all again.

I was really impressed with the expertise, advice and support from JS Miller Solicitors, my case was handled by Jack Tomlinson, who was proactive and responsive. He and his team thoroughly researched my case and informed me of the options and recommended the best course of action. He informed me with a high level of experience, I felt very supported and was able to deal with my matter quickly and with an excellent, positive outcome. It was a huge relief! I would highly recommend JS Miller Solicitors.

Having been in a distressing car accident and hard of hearing Jack and the team at JS Miller were exceptionally efficient and clearly explained everything.
From start to finish a horrible experience was dealt with sensitivity and patience and fees were fixed and agreed at the start which meant that worries about escalating costs were eliminated. To say that the whole team were caring is an understatement and they secured the best possible outcome for which I am very grateful.
If you need advice and help dealing motoring offence I highly recommend that you speak with them .

Incompetent handling of the case, making basic errors, such as checking of dates to ensure that the statutory 6 month period had not expired for road traffic offences, until I needed to point this out.

No better result achieved in my opinion, than pleading guilty by post, given the penalty from the court was just marginally below the maximum imposable by the court for this offence. The same outcome which would have been most likely for a first time offender like myself if I had pleaded guilty by post and saved me the cost of £2,400 and stress of dealing with this firm.

In addition, very dangerous advice given, where the firm communicated incorrect date by which fine had to be paid, which would have resulted in default of judgment and a subsequent CCJ, a far more disastrous outcome than pleading guilty by post. Only by my fortunate due diligence, by double checking everything firm did after the initial errors, did I avoid this hugely damaging outcome.

I would say, ask yourself, do I really want to deal with this firm, and risk anything like the stress, incompetence, errors and cost I endured.

And reviews from “customer” [never seen so many people using the same name 🤨] and anonymous can one firm have without any intelligent person questioning…❓

Jeanette is a brilliant legal professional, who made me feel at ease at every stage of my personal injury claim against my employer.

I initially relied upon a solicitor & barrister funded by legal aid, but the lack of effective support & the lack of any effective medical specialist evidence made that process very difficult indeed.
