A very strange experience

I booked a test drive for a nearly new demo model (MG3 hybrid trophy). It went well but when I went back in they asked me if I had considered buying brand new. So I let them quote me for an MG3 SE manual; I received a formal quote, detailed, in writing.

The next morning I rang to say yes; I ordered the car, and paid the deposit.

Two days later they rang me to say that they couldn’t get one anywhere! So I couldn’t have one. I said that I would probably like the used one I had test driven, to be told it had now been sold over the weekend.

So I got my deposit back and I’m now looking at alternative manufacturers. A very strange experience and I certainly couldn’t recommend them based on what happened with me.

They blame everything for the reason why it isn’t fit for purpose which make no sense and then tell you they just sell the cars, they don’t know about their mechanics. I am going to take this higher as the first thing they go to us your driving. Well, I am 53, totally clean licence and a good driver. After there being a potential other cause for the issue, they were not interested in following it up or actually doing a proper job of looking at things. I have never returned a car to a garage before. It says a lot about the car and the subsequent attitude.

I do not usually leave negative…

I do not usually leave negative reviews, but this experience has been extremely disappointing. I purchased a nearly new car from Just Motor Group this past Friday, and unfortunately, I encountered a serious issue the very next day which rendered the car unusable. I contacted the dealership on Saturday to report the problem, but by Monday I was completely stranded, as the vehicle could not be driven at all.

As I rely on this car for my daily commute, this has caused significant inconvenience and disruption. Although I was assured that the matter would be addressed, no effective action has been taken so far. No courtesy car offered. The after-sales manager, Alistair Burry, has yet to provide a solution or meaningful assistance. I've contacted several times today and he said he'd contact me before the end of the day with an update, which hasn't happened.

As a result, the vehicle has been sitting unused outside my home for several days. This situation has been both frustrating and unfair, particularly given how recently the car was purchased. I believe it is important for others to be aware of my experience when considering doing business with this branch.

Luke introduced himself then left us to look around and was on call to answer questions when we were ready. He was helpful and talked us through every step. It's the second time we've bought a car from here and I will go back when the time comes.

Impressive salesman in Kyle

Attentive salesman in Kyle - approached us virtually as we were looking at the care - attended to something in the showroom and then soon came out to attend to us. Gave us relevant info - went through the paperwork - offered tea or coffee if we wanted then arranged a test drive - back to showroom - decision made to buy it - paperwork completed - collection day agreed - all relevant documents emailed by Kyle’s boss good explanations of additional products - bank transfer done - the whole process took about 5hours as we stopped for a drink and shopping before we went to the bank. Very impressed by Kyle and the professional way everything was dealt with.

I put a £500 deposit on a brand new red MG Hybrid Trophy car in the show room at Harrogate Just Motor Group, to secure the car we had inspected and looked round on Saturday 13th September 2025. I was told by (car dealer) that someone else was interested but as I didn't want any other colour but red this deposit would secure the car on a first come first served basis. On the following Tuesday I received a call to say that unfortunately the said car dealer shouldn't of said I could have this car as it has already been sold and he was sorry. He said he could still get me another red one from one of their other garages, but I would have to wait an extra week for it to be brought to their garage. I asked was it new and in perfect condition and he said yes. I agreed to proceed, but wish I hadn't now.
When we went to pick up the new car nearly 2 weeks later. It wasn't in the show room as our past cars had been from D M Keith for our inspection but out side with the used cars and parked near to the used cars, so much so that I was unable to walk round the back of the car. At no time was we offered to look around the car but in honesty did't think that we would even need to inspect the body work of a new car as our trust was still with the dealer. Can I just add that there was still a red car in the showroom at this time which we were told wasn't a hybrid and indeed wasn't the original car we put our deposit on. We was still trusting the dealer at this stage. The passenger side door was left open for me to enter which I though was polite, but this was a mistake as after driving 6 miles to our desination when leaving the garage when I closed the passenger side door I noticed a dint in the door handle on this side. My husband also notied that the MG Car mats which were promised on the deal weren't in the car either, instead they had put mats in that didn't fit and were dangerous. I immedately sent the picture to the dealer. This was late evening.
On further investigation the next day in the bright sunlight, we noticed scratches on the wheel arch on the same side. We have since and I am taking within a couple of days noticed a dint near the boot and back window guard popped out. Imperfections in the interior and imperfections with the valeting of the body work where GuardX which we paid for has been applied. Rear lights with condensation.
I have never recieved any after sevice nor have I been contacted any a Dealer Manager until 12 December 2025. The email sent to me is not acceptable, he has used shouting text by using capitalisation on certain words and indeed is refusing to repair or let me use my Cunsumer Rights to reject the faulty car, which we declined straight away. He seems to think the Comsumer Rights Act 2015 doesn't apply in this instance. He indeed said they have CCTV where the car was inspected by two of their dealers, one being Mr Briggs. If this CCTV didn't have my private registration plate on then for all I know this could be the one which was still in the showroom when we arrived to pick our damaged car up, which we were to wasn't a Hybrid but a new Petrol car.
The Manager believes we may have indeed caused this damage on our way home. This is the third brand new car that we have owned and always, after 2-3 years handed a perfect car back as part exchange. The car is amazing to drive and I love the colour but really didn't want one that was inperfect after spending good money to buy brand new. My husbands 10 year old works van has less body problems on it!
Please don't use this Garage and put yourself in our position.
Terrible after service as it doesn't exist and disgracefull customer service. Unfortunately Santander who are the loan company chose to believe them, stating it was our fault as we didn't check the body work and they couldn't get involved.
Please don't be put of by MG Cars as I really think they are great, but please don't buy one from Just Motor Group. I will continue to prove my inocense in this case and not be bullied into submission.

To summarise, customer ordered a car, customer received the exact car ordered, and days later customer decides she isn’t happy with the condition despite having never noticed any issues earlier. An entire week later, the customer decides the car now has a dent in it which was apparently there all along. Dealership having never experienced this before do the right thing and offer to put these marks right regardless of the fact there is no evidence that this customer hasn’t caused them. Customer refused to allow this and tried to bully dealership into giving a full refund, then misquotes the consumer rights act, and involves finance company who refuse to uphold the complaint for all of the same reasons as listed above. Customer decides that now she realises she was wrong about her rights and the dealership are in fact under no obligation to carry out the repairs that quite clearly have been caused after collection, she will let the dealership put them right. Dealership refused and invited her to refer her concerns to the relevant ombudsman service. It’s relatively clear to see where the problem here lies. Thank you

Warranty work

Purchased a brand new Ioniq 5 from them but it has had to go in for minor paint defect which is being covered under warranty. They said they needed the car for four days which seemed excessive. The car has now sat in body shop for a day and a half and hasnt even been touched yet so no wonder they wanted it for four days. Tried speaking to branch manager but he was just rude and arrogant

I have just bought a car from here

I have just bought a car from here. My contact person was Kyle. I was dealt with professionally, friendly and promptly. Kyle is new to the job, but you couldn't tell. He was so welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble for him. My finance options changed mid way through the week, and Kyle took it in his stride. All the team were fab, but special mention to Kyle who was amazing.

Wow. what a reply from Just Motor group, I am sure you have recordings of our telephone calls and have to say I cannot help but take offence at "irate". In fact I had pointed out that I was actually test driving as it was a company car.
You have clearly missed the point and hopefully this review will ensure that customers choose a purchase from a customer focused Hyundai dealer, perhaps Warrington who were more than happy to reach out after I sent a complaint to the UK office.
I had booked a test drive of the new Ioniq 9 as I am looking to purchase a Calligraphy model.

I have just been informed by at the Dealership that its not possible as they have a sales event. When I queried this as I have numerous emails even stating to get there a few minute early, his response was that I probably shouldn't use the portal as its just a request.

This is very inconvenient and concerning for a company who is trying to sell cars at c £78000. I have bought from Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen and have never received such shoddy customer service. I am sure that you will want to improve on this standard or remove your portal if your retailers do not value its use.

I was looking forward to trying a different brand and had narrowed the choice down to the Ioniq 9 Calligraphy and the BMW i5 touring, unfortunately this has put me off.

Thank you for your review. However, having carried out an investigation into this, it appears to be absent of some of the facts.

Speaking to the team Member involved, I am advised that you made an enquiry online through the Hyundai portal. Upon receipt of this enquiry, our team emailed and called you immediately but were not unable to reach you. The following day when you called back, we advised that the vehicle is already booked out on test drive and although we could look to squeeze you in for a test drive at the time requested but would much rather rebook you in when we don't have other appointments so that we can ensure the car is fully charged and the team member can dedicate all of his attention on you and give you the best experience possible. I am told that you became irate and told my colleague that you weren't going to be buying from us anyway and were ordering from elsewhere but just wanted to come and see and drive the car from us first. My colleague explained that although you booked it through the Hyundai portal, the system doesn't know what test drives we have booked or when the vehicle will be on site which is why it says in the terms that we will contact you to confirm, which we did. I am sorry this has put you off purchasing a Hyundai and wish you the best of look purchasing a car from an alternative manufacturer.

This company sold me a car with serious…

This company sold me a car with serious engine faults that should never have been on the road. Their communication was terrible – slow, dismissive, and unhelpful. When the problems became clear, they failed to take responsibility and left me to sort it out myself.

In the end, I had to fight through my bank for a refund, which took weeks and caused huge stress. No buyer should be put in that position.

My experience showed me that this dealership cannot be trusted. They are unprofessional, unreliable, and should be avoided at all costs.

We have no record of you ever buying a vehicle from any of our dealerships under the name on here. I have spoken to the managers at all of our operations and nobody knows who you are. Despite trust pilot issuing you with a request for further information pertinent to your transaction so that we can try and locate your purchase, we have received nothing from you.

We only sell vehicles up to 5 years old and with a maximum of 50,000 miles - I struggle to imagine that a car within these parameters would suffer from the issues you have described and simply don't believe that you have been treated the way you suggest by our teams. Furthermore, I have never known a bank get involved with processing a refund for a transaction that I presume was authorized by you initially.

With all of this in mind, I believe that this review has been left for the wrong business in error or has been left maliciously. Either way, I would ask that this review is removed as this is not how we treat our customers as is evident in the plethora of 5 star reviews that we have.

Perfect experience

Could not recommend more!

After wanting a new car and finding the Hyundai i20 I visited Hyundai Preston, where the experience was 10/10 from start to finish.

Mark was absolutely fantastic with every process. He didn’t over hear me when I was first looking at options but then was also very helpful at every stage.

The handover stage was perfect and just how I imaged it to be. Not to mention Marks personality and friendliness made the experience just that little more special.

Very happy with this outcome. Thank you once again 🙏

Excellent customer service

I bought a new Hyundai from Just Hyundai @ Preston and besides giving me a great price, Mark S was extremely helpful with no pushy sales talk. He was knowledgeable about the car and picked me up from the train station, driving me to the dealership when I collected the car on 03/06/25.

I thought that was the end of it as he'd completed the sale but he rang me a couple days later to see how things were going. I asked a few questions about the car and it's features I'd come across which he answered and had the great humility to admit when he didn't know the answers but offered to find out and ring me back with the answers, which he did! There was a confusion on the other side of the garage re my service plan in early July but when I rang Mark for clarification he chased everything up and as a result of his full explanations I realised it made sense to extend the service plan, which I did. Most of all, I am very very impressed by the ongoing customer service provided by Just Hyundai via Mark S following the sale. I hope the garage service side of the group matches Mark S's excellent performance

Just Motors Keighley…

We recently bought a car from Just Citroen Keighley and could not fault them. It's the first time we bought a car without looking at it and Safir did anything professionaly possible to ensure everything was handled perfectly. I would love to recommend and using them again. 5 Stars!

Do you buy a car? Do you not? Uncertain about taking the plunge? Well, do it!!! Buy it from Naim! What a fabulous, smooth , stress free process. I just love my new car and haven't stopped looking at it yet! He is so kind and personable. Absolutely 💯 % recommend!

No pressure sales, was allowed to look around the vehicles without a salesman hovering on my shoulder. Mark was extremely helpful and answered any questions i had. Overall a very relaxed and stress free experience. I will be buying from the Preston dealership again. Thankyou Mark

Just a waste of time, energy and money

In reply to your answer to our review:-
You know our names but we don’t know yours, but, you don’t know what happened. Firstly:- The sales team member hounded us to attend the event, we received emails and text messages asking us to confirm that we would attend. We didn’t know why he wanted us to attend but we assumed that it must be important and we still do not know why he wanted to see us. If you knew our situation you would understand what I mean, we are not in a position to buy a new car, why would we? The car we have, as you should know, is only 18 months old.
Secondly:- we did talk to another sales team member, we told him we had an appointment, after we had waited a while, he went to see the salesman who we had the appointment with, we were told it would only be another ten minutes but it was much longer. So we told the sales man who spoke to us that we had to go.
Thirdly:- you weren’t busy when we were there, there were no customers to be seen, with the exception of a man with his son who took a photo of the small grey car on display and then he left straightaway which is what we should have done.
Lastly, it’s wonderful that you sold so many cars, well done!! But, unfortunately, it only confirms that people buying new cars are much much more important than elderly, disabled people who kept their promise to attend the non event. Whichever way you look at it, it was still a waste of time, effort and money on our part. So disappointing, whatever happened to good customer service? Thank you for your apology but it should have come from the man that we had the appointment to see!

We, my husband and I, were invited to a “special event” at Just Motor Group in Preston, we had an appointment with Kamlesh for 1pm, it never happened. We waited for 45 minutes, and then we left. It was a complete waste of time, energy and money and 40 miles worth of diesel. Just Motor Group are supposed to be “the people you can trust”, not so, we trusted them to keep an appointment but they didn’t. And the “special event” was a non event, there was nothing special about it.

Thank you for your review. However, a tad unfair I feel.

I am extremely apologetic that we failed to keep your appointment. We were extremely overwhelmed with the level of customers who came to our event and some without an appointment. We tried to manage the situation as best we could. Our Sales team member felt that he had time to assist the customer that he was dealing with prior to your arrival but unfortunately some people take a little longer to understand various aspects of the transaction and therefore take more time. This was one of those situations and sadly he couldn't break away from this client. Nevertheless, had you spoken to someone and raised your concerns with the delay, we would have been only too obliged to have another member of the Sales Team assist you if you weren't wanting to wait any longer.

Our "Special Event" as you so gracefully put it, was in fact that. I am extremely pleased to say that we had the most successful event we have ever had having sold over 120 cars in 10 days. As a privately owned and run business trying to succeed in a crowded marketplace, it is always sad when we fail to meet a customers expectations but as you will appreciate, this is never intentional. I am disappointed that we let you down, but also disappointed that your response was to leave such a poor review rather than raise your concerns with a team member who would have gladly assisted you further since you had travelled 40 miles.
