Scam
Had a popup whilst looking for audiobooks, after closing an unwanted pop up I then received a text informing me that I'd subscribed to a 4.50 a week service. This is fraud.
Caught up with this same scam..
Caught up with this same scam... received 2 random messages saying i had subscribed. 02 cannot give me a refund but placed a ban on further charges. Best thing to do is to call your service provider as soon as you receive the text msg to place a ban!
This has happened to me as well
This has happened to me as well in April & if we can get the word out hopefully the authorities/ regulating bodies can shut it down. Make an immediate complaint to the Phone paid services authority. The PSA website can be found via google. With your mobile phone company you must ask them to stop and block all “ charge to bill” and “charge to mobile debits”. I was able to do this with 02. It’s a horrible thing to happen. Makes you wonder what else could have been charged to your phone. I dread to think. P.S. do not expect a refund.
Scammers who promise to refund and don't
Tried to minimise a page on facebook by pressing the cross in the right hand corner and suddenly receive a text message to say I am signed up to a weekly movie subscription for £4.50 per week. Text stop immediately and call the number to ask for a refund for something I did not sign up to. Am asked for my email for a paypal refund. Give it. Nothing comes into my account.
A dodgy company with shifty people…
A dodgy company with shifty people running it under the pretence of being an reputable company. Like others I was automatically signed up to a service I had no knowledge of, nor care about! I straight away called up my service provider and placed a stop to it. I then tried speaking to customer services, they didn't seem bothered much but said they "place a stop" to it. Their blatant lies of trying to tell people they signed up to it is a such a farce one can't help but laugh at the pretentious attitude and to think we're mindless sheep with no knowledge and lack intelligence. Why would so many others online be angry or frustrated at this service of being signed automatically without their consent? Because its a scam and this company thinks people are stupid to believe they signed up themselves.
Scam posing as premium movie service
These people are supposedly a premium movie service costing £4.50 a week that you have to 'opt in' to on your mobile bill. In reality, most people become aware of them by accidentally clicking on a banner ad on social media - and that's it, you're subscribed. No further permission or checking that you really wanted the service. In my case, I didn't even do that: I just got two text messages out of the blue saying I'd subscribed. Then begins the fun and games of trying to get unsubscribed. Your mobile provider will not be interested in helping you, and neither will Ofcom. Lasevia is based in Cyprus and not subject to British law. The text message option to cancel costs £4.50 a time and the telephone option is a high-rate premium number masked as a local rate. When you finally do make contact, the company tells you you must give them your bank account details or Paypal details in order to receive a refund. Then you don't get your refund. And you need to continuously monitor your mobile bill for extra charges and the subscription itself. There is no way to get these people to stop under British law. They are thieves and charlatans. Avoid them like the plague.
