Awful experience! – multiple incorrect applications and then completely ignored.

I am very disappointed to have to leave this review, as I have used LifeSearch in the past and had a good experience.

I recently purchased a house and contacted LifeSearch to arrange a mortgage protection policy alongside the three policies they had previously arranged for me in 2022 (life insurance, critical illness and income protection).

The broker assigned to me, Luke, was very helpful initially. He suggested reviewing my existing policies as he believed he could broker better deals and arrange all four policies with the same provider, Aviva. The quotes were great, so I agreed and he submitted the applications on my behalf.

The alarm bells started ringing when I began receiving multiple emails from Aviva containing multiple application numbers. I was also receiving correspondence regarding Aviva obtaining medical information from my GP. Given that these applications had been submitted in my name and medical information was being requested in connection with them, I understandably wanted to know exactly what had been submitted on my behalf.

I emailed Luke asking for copies of the applications. No response. After three ignored emails, I called the mobile number he had given me. Again, no response.

I then called the LifeSearch office and was assured Luke would call me back that day. He didn't. He eventually called the following day and promised he would chase everything up and email me copies of the applications.

I never heard from him again, and I never received the applications.

More than a month went by. Eventually, I contacted Aviva myself to find out what on earth was going on.

Aviva informed me that they had THREE duplicate applications for me. On top of this, the application that was supposed to be the mortgage protection policy – which I had requested as a joint policy with my partner – was not correct and was not even joint.

At this point I asked Aviva to cancel the applications.

What I cannot understand is how multiple duplicate applications and an incorrectly submitted policy were apparently allowed to sit there for over a month without LifeSearch identifying the problem, contacting me, explaining what had happened or correcting it.

Mistakes happen. What I find unacceptable is what happened afterwards.

I repeatedly tried to contact my broker. I repeatedly asked for copies of applications submitted in my name. I was promised they would be sent to me and they weren't. I was promised callbacks that didn't happen. I ultimately had to contact Aviva myself to investigate LifeSearch's applications and ask for them to be cancelled.

Even after discovering the errors, I contacted LifeSearch AGAIN to tell them what had happened. I was assured I would receive an urgent callback.

That callback never came either.

So after initially approaching LifeSearch intending to purchase one additional policy, I have instead cancelled the new applications and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I have gone from being a returning customer who previously had a good experience with LifeSearch to having absolutely no confidence in allowing them to arrange insurance on my behalf.

I hope this review helps anyone else wondering whether they should use LifeSearch: don't. Please use a broker you trust. :)

Excellent service, spoke to Jason clark who helped me sort out my life insurance policy. Honestly what a lovely man, never once felt I was being pressured or was being sold to. Highly recommend if you are considering taking out a policy.

The two sales guys who contacted are really friendly and found me a good value policy that worked for me.

The updated my policy to give me a longer lasting one with minimal price increase.

EDIT: 3rd call today, again asked to be taken off their list and no contact but got told they “work with an automated system” - Honestly avoid very clear there is not personal touch here they can’t even do a single thing you ask.

I got a life insurance quote through MoneySuperMarket, who pass you on to LifeSearch. On the form I explicitly opted out of being contacted. LifeSearch rang me anyway.

I told the first caller to take me off their list. Clear enough, you'd think. A while later my phone goes again this time from an 07 mobile number, the sort you'd normally flag as spam. LifeSearch again. When I pointed out I'd already asked to be removed, more than once, the reply was: "Oh yes, it's just popped up now that you requested to be taken off."

Just popped up. So my do not contact request was sat somewhere in their system, unread, while two of their people dialled my number.

Honestly if this is the care and attention they take with storing your data I'd avoid them for something serious like life insurance.

The service provided by Lifesearch is absolutely brilliant. They helped me find and obtain insurance that was affordable and provides me the cover that I require. The customer service I received from Michael and Jamie was fantastic - I'd buy them a few drinks in the pub if I could. I would recommend the service to anyone looking for life insurance and similar cover and am really glad that they made contact with me.

Really pleased with the service I received in purchasing Critical Illness cover. Sam Roberts was friendly, knowledgeable and took the time to explain the different life insurance options and policies clearly, making sure I understood the various levels of cover available.

I never felt rushed or pressured into making a decision, and the whole process was straightforward and easy to understand.
