I found this platform far below my expectations. Despite taking the time to carefully complete our profile, we did not receive a single contact. I could have blamed this on a lack of interest in our profile, but the reality is that we also received no replies to the families we contacted ourselves.

Over time, we completely lost interest in using the platform, as it simply did not deliver any tangible results. For us, it was a frustrating and unproductive experience.

Overall, this service has been very disappointing for my family and me. Needless to say, we will not be renewing our subscription, but I felt it was important to explain why and to inform other consumers.

My son spent two weeks with a hosting family in Ireland. He basically had no interaction with the family - no meals together, no outings, no activities, nothing at all. A family of six people, all grown-ups, and nobody had time to spend with their paying guests. My son spent all his time with the other foreign guests instead of practincing everyday English with the family.
After a week, I informed Lingoo of the issue. We had intensive email exchanges and phone calls but the situation did not improve. In the end, I published a negative review, balanced and fact-based, on my son's experience with that family. After a couple of weeks Lingoo decided to remove it as it would be detrimental to the family. So: positive reviews are published while negative ones are removed. No wonder their families have all great ratings!
