READING BERKSHIRE :Based on both my own experience and the numerous reviews already posted, there appears to be a deeply concerning pattern of behaviour at this club. One review describes a pregnant woman being deliberately locked inside the changing rooms, which alone should have triggered urgent action. Instead, it seems nothing has changed.
The club manager is consistently described as intimidating, dismissive, and openly hostile to members who raise concerns. What makes this worse is that this behaviour appears to be actively protected by senior management, Complaints are not addressed transparently; instead, members report being ignored, spoken down to, or even banned simply for complaining about facilities or treatment.
There have also been multiple allegations ranging from racial discrimination to outright disrespect towards paying members. Taken together, this points to a toxic management culture rather than isolated incidents.
This is extremely disappointing and unacceptable for a brand associated with Hilton. The impression given is that as long as sales targets are met, member welfare, safety, and basic standards of conduct are secondary concerns.
I would strongly urge prospective members to read the existing reviews carefully before joining, and I hope Hilton takes these repeated complaints seriously rather than continuing to overlook them.
By way of update, living very well know this matter has been in an official complaint with 8 past members. The major shareholder of this franchise has zero interest in putting things right, but only charging you for the privelage. We were members for almost a decade and there is no loyalty or respect shown to customers. This manager has been here for 10+ years and is heavily protected by senior management.

A very nice pool and spa facilities but…

A very nice pool and spa facilities in Brighton but increasingly it is becoming a childrens' pool. I think its important that children are part of society but often the parents who come here don't teach their children how to be more considerate of others or aren't aware themselves. As a result, it is very difficult to properly swim here without having to constantly stop with oblivious parents chatting in the middle of the pool or not watching their children. It would really benefit from separate family times or an allocated childrens' area to allow others to swim.

At the Nottingham gym/pool I had my…

At the Nottingham gym/pool I had my phone stolen from the locker as I briefly changed my trunks in the private cubicle on Christmas Eve, sadly the iPhone is of no value as I put it into lost mode, I could track it for a while but how’s it just gone. I just don’t trust this gym anymore for security, the room is pokey, strange people often, I know this could happen in any gym but being in the city probably makes it a bad place.

Very poor club, dirty, unhygienic and in poor condition

This review is for Hilton Livingwell Strathclyde which is in Bellshill

Very poorly run club, facilities are dirty, unhygienic and in poor condition. See reviews regards broken lockers, doors falling off. The shower ceilings are covered in mould, water fountain is regularly growing bacteria, dust and dirt everywhere. They have had no towels now for 2 months due to a tumble drier not working. Amazingly all hotel guests still have towels, just no towels for paying members

Cancelled my membership as it has been the same for months, pretty disgraceful all round for such a big branc

amazing little spa…

amazing little spa with a nice little stone sauna and the best steam room in Brighton wich is hot as hell itself! and really clean, also the pool is not bad and of course, they have an ice cold plunge shower!! which is so important, the gym is small has enough equipment to work with, and is not that busy, and the atmosphere is amazing because it's a hidden gem, The staff are amazing and always willing to help especially Reg the assistant manager who is spot on and knows what he's doing and he runs the place very well, so I highly recommend this place..

Untrustworthy accounting - be careful when you sign up

When I joined the Brighton club a few months ago I signed the Direct Debit mandate for the monthly fee. The next month I saw the fee had been deducted TWICE from my bank account. When I checked they had put the mandate through twice. After discussion with the spa manager it was agreed that, as it was clearly their error, I would be refunded the second payment. Months, and many messages back and forth, later I am still waiting for that refund. It isn't a huge amount of money, but the principle of it is that they made a really inexcusable error and should have corrected it immediately it was brought to their attention. Despite assurances such as 'it will be dealt with by the end of the week' it just hasn't happened. Not sure whether it's just pure incompetence or systemic dishonesty on their part. Either way it's totally unacceptable.

No vice for the vunreble

Hi there I wanted to become a social subscriber and went to my G.P for a intial chat as I was going through a berevement process. I started to overeat as a result. But when I self referred myself and was assessed. I spoke to 2 different people that were so disconnected to the way I was feeling and just devalued me. I felt discouraged and underrated. Really upsetting to know that we can't get help and support from these organisations the women are a complete joke!.

The lockers in Livingwell in Bellshill

The lockers in Livingwell in Bellshill, as part of the Hilton chain, are dangerous. It is a well-known joke amongst members that it can can take quite a few attempts to find one that works. Today, after three attempts, I did. When I got changed and closed the door, it fell off it's top hinge and swung down quickly. I was lucky not to be hit in the face. I made an "official" complaint to the very pleasant duty manager but nothing was written down. If/when someone is seriously hurt, or worse, they cannot say they did not know. They do not appear to be taking complaints about the lockers seriously. The staff there are great, but seem to spend a lot of time dealing with similar issues. In my opinion, this is a fault at local management level (or an indication that the organisation is so pushed for cash they will do anything (ie nothing) to save a few pounds).

I got attacked while using Watford…

I got attacked while using Watford living well gym facilities by an drug addict, racially abused and had to call police for my and my wife safety, Hilton management have refused to help because they maintained that the gym managed or runs remotely by reading based coordinator … 😔

Badly Managed

We joined Livingwell at the Hilton hotel Leicester as paying monthly members in February 2023 only to be told within the a few weeks that they could not correct the problems that they were having with the pool heating and that they would be closing the pool for the repair to be completed during the refurbishment of the Hilton hotel with a completion date not until the end of May that's 3 months bearing in mind we had only just joined our primary reason for joining was for swimming and not the gym and was not informed that this was going to happen immediately after joining which they must of foreseen when eventually the pool was reopened it was clear that the refurbishment had not extended to the pool area as the decor was unchanged when did get back into the use of the pool only half of the pool is available at best on most days of the week and all weekend is occupied by private children's swim lessons so there is barely any room to actually have a good swim and the noise from screaming kids all the time you are there is not a relaxing experience if you are a serious swimmer I would not recommend anyone to go here for these reasons also they very very slow at dealing with maintenance issues when we started using it the swim wear spinner in the male changing rooms was broken and it took 4 months to be replaced, pool side showers are again not working (this was the original fault that led to the pool closure) and currently 2 out of 3 of the ladies showers are not working it is really badly managed and to be quite honest I wish I had joined a different gym/swimming pool.

Livingwell misrepresents themselves…

Livingwell misrepresents themselves online. Anyone interested in working on their body and health should not go there. Their facilities are very outdated, the pools and showers are filthy and their focus is just on elderly people and families who stay at the hotels. Don't become a member if you are looking for a gym or pool. Not worth your money.
