The Wonders of Lois Gunn Ceramics (and other things)
We are lucky enough to own several ceramic pieces by Lois Gunn. The first thing we bought was a flower goddess vase, which is one of the most precious things we own. The glaze of the yellow goddess glows though her petal collar and the blackbirds on the side take off from vines that trace the curve of the vase. We love the tactile roundness and weight of it too. It's a thing of wonder. Next came a small moody blue goddess mug. She watches over us in the kitchen and we love the blue bobbles on her handle. She's sturdy enough to use as a mug, but we can't bear the thought of dropping her so she lives on a shelf! I love that Lois does affordable pieces too, so we have a wall hanging and a grow girl for our plants - she definitely makes sure that we take good care of our houseplants. These small pieces are just as well made as the larger ceramics and they make us smile. Following that came a beautiful raku bird totem, with pinky blues that make her fly—she's very special. I also bought a positive petal pendant for my daughter, so I know that she's well looked after (this was our first piece of Lois jewellery and it's so cute). Then a selkie arrived, who has brought the sea with her into the house—the character Lois gets into these pieces is inspiring. They're like living things. She's soon to be joined by some hanging festive ladies, with vibrant blue and gold lustre glaze—they really pop against our walls. Reading through this, I guess you could say we're collectors of Lois' work and we couldn't be happier about it. Lois is always very friendly and her customer service is superb. Everything is dispatched quickly and is carefully wrapped. It all feels very personal and positive. Thanks for everything, Lois! Lisa
