I wish you could give 0 stars.

My review is much the same as all the others I've seen here.

Loving Rome is not a company you should be involved with or book a ticket with. They leave you with an experience that makes you feel anything but love.

Well before travelling, I booked a guided tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum for 15 May.

On 12 May at 21:59, the night before I flew, I received an email stating that the tour could not be confirmed due to “lack of ticket availability and zero capacity in our booking system”. At that point, I had already structured my itinerary around this booking and other big-ticket items like The Vatican.

The company then half-heartedly offered alternative dates which did not match my travel window, while making no real effort to resolve the problem they created. I informed them clearly that I would not be in Rome on those days. After that, I was sent a generic external link to request a refund, which did not provide a clear refund process and placed the burden on me to resolve an issue created by the cancellation.

Over the following days, I had multiple exchanges with the company, including a phone call from Heathrow Airport while I was travelling, during which further alternative options were again suggested that did not align with my stated availability.

At one point, I was told that a Saturday afternoon slot was available. I initially declined as the timing was unclear. I later asked for the exact start time and was told 10:45. On that basis, I accepted the booking. Shortly afterwards, I was informed that the slot was no longer available.

After repeated attempts to resolve the issue, I was clear with the company that I was requesting a refund and the burden was on them to provide it without sending me generic links to paperwork.

Ten days later, and despite having followed up, I have still not received a refund and there has been no further contact from the company. I'm now pursuing a chargeback through my card provider.

In the end, I found a last-minute deal for a tour on Saturday morning with another company called City Walkers. It was an absolute joy, and the tour guide, a lovely lady called Barbara, was amazing.

Based on my experience, I would advise you to stay far away from Loving Rome due to poor internal management, lack of effective communication, unresolved refund handling and a total lack of interest in providing any meaningful resolution for the problem they created.

Less than 48 hours before the activity, the supplier (Loving Rome) informed me that they could no longer honor the booking

I booked and fully paid approximately €216 for a Colosseum experience through GetYourGuide more than a month in advance. The booking was confirmed and all reservation details were issued.

Less than 48 hours before the activity, the supplier (Loving Rome) informed me that they could no longer honor the booking due to an internal technical issue and offered alternative dates after my departure from Rome, making them unusable.

What made the experience even more disappointing was the way the supplier handled the situation. Their communication on chat was dismissive and repetitive, repeatedly insisting that I submit a refund request instead of making any real effort to provide a workable solution, secure equivalent tickets, or propose an alternative for the same date.

GetYourGuide did suggest other available activities, but these were not actual replacement solutions. The alternatives offered were significantly more expensive, from different suppliers, and in several cases had much weaker customer ratings. This would have required me to purchase entirely new tickets at additional cost, while I was also informed that my original booking could not simply be transferred or replaced. In practice, this was not a viable solution, but only the appearance of one.

In the end, I did not initiate the refund myself — GetYourGuide processed the refund after confirming that the supplier could not fulfill the booking.

For high-demand attractions like the Colosseum, a last-minute cancellation can seriously disrupt travel plans, as equivalent tickets are often unavailable or significantly more expensive at that stage.

A refund is the minimum contractual remedy, but it does not compensate for the lost opportunity, the stress, and the time spent reorganizing an important part of the trip.

My advice to future customers: do not assume that a confirmed booking is fully secured until very close to the activity date. In my case, a confirmed and paid reservation still proved unreliable.

LovingRome - Use them... Lose your money

We bought a tour of the Vatican in Rome from Loving Rome through Get Your Guide UK Ltd (who they subcontract for). We paid nearly £300 for this service. On the day, we met the Loving Rome rep who told us that our tour was cancelled as the tour guide was sick. There was no backup, no replacement, no working with other tour companies to try and get a tour. We were given 17euro tickets and then left alone - without the tour we paid for. It was our last day in Rome so we didn't have the option of coming back the next day, the tour rep was smirking, unempathetic and just totally unwilling to offer any help at all.
Loving Rome have given us a token £75 refund because they say that they 'got us into the vatican' but we want a full refund (minus the ticket price). We are pursuing this legally as it's just not right for a business to operate in this way but i would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS COMPANY.
