Excellent service
I just felt I had to write and say how pleased I was with the very fast service from Lowa. Ordered online Thursday lunchtime, goods arrived via DPD on Friday lunchtime. As soon as I opened the box I could tell that the shoes were top quality. The enclosed note told me that I could try the for 30 days and, if not suitable, return using the freepost label.
Perfect fit for my normal show size. Very pleased.
I has a problem with my Renegades but I got fantastic customer Service
I had a problem with my Renegades. I had looked after them better than my old Renegades but they split and leaked after just over a year. I was gutted and phoned Lowa who asked for photos. I had a long email by return saying it looked as thought the leather had dried and it was a maintenance problem.
However the customer sevice was first class and they sent me a replacement pair.
Lowa does NOT offer free returns.
I bought the Lowa Renegades only because they were returnable. I immediately liked them out of the box. However, when I tried them on the were very stiff in the sole....not flexible at all. So I sent them back expecting a refund. Lowa sent me a shipping label, I dropped them off at UPS and waited. My refund came today minus shipping cost. I expected a FULL refund. If they told me returns would be at MY EXPENSE, I would not have purchased these. Hidden costs are worse than bait and switch tactics.
Useful to useless in 6 months.
Bought a pair of Lowa walking boots in September 2024 and by March 25 they had holes in and the sole was coming away from the upper.
The shop I’d bought them from said Lowa would probably say I hadn’t ‘looked after’ the Gortex well enough. Which, when they were sent back to Lowa, they did. Not sure how that explains the upper and sole becoming disconnected.
Lesson learned. I’ll NEVER buy Lowa again and would deter anyone else from making my mistake.
Bought new renegades from Taunton
Bought new renegades from Taunton, they BOTH leaked within weeks in damp grass! This is 3rd pair I’ve had leak, will never buy Lowa again.the quality or lack of it has gone rock bottom, must be made cheaply abroad.
Complete rubbish
Customer service
Issue with boots dealt with very well by Lowa. Fantastic customer service, thank you.
Lowa Camino GTX - I want to love these boots but…
Lowa Camino GTX
I have owned these boots for about 3 months now and have been prompted several times to offer my review.
On the upside, these boots are very sturdy, waterproof and offer good protection on rough ground. They are heavily padded and, as result, are quite heavy and very warm. Personally, I would retire them throughout the summer and warmer months and plan to only use them during the winter/on cooler hikes.
Today, I set out for a relatively short walk but decided to return after a mile or so. The problem I find is that the boots have a hotspot in 2 distinct areas, which lead to mild blistering after 5 or 6 miles. Firstly, where the lining of the heel joins the collar, a diamond stitch has been used to connect the panels (and secure a label), and this creates an abrasive surface against the in the heel (see photo 1). I have noticed fibres from my socks being pulled away and trapped under the stitching. In other boots that I own, this junction is achieved with a running stitch which sits in a furrow out of reach from the skin.
Secondly, and especially when descending steep slopes, my index toe blisters on the top surface. Feeling inside the boot, seems to be in excess of lining material which “groups” at a point that corresponds to the rubber toe cap joining the leather upper on the external surface (see photo 2). This abrades the top of the toe, especially when clenching on descents.
Being heavier boots, I do expect that some issues with comfort that would settle in overtime. I can also mitigate against these effects to some extent by twisting the tongue of the boot to create a slight gap between the inner surface and my heel and taping my index toe in advance of setting out on a walk. However, I also own other lighter boots that I can slip on for a day walk and not even think about.
I had hoped to use these for longer, multi day treks and I am really not sure that I can trust them. I would love to love these boots but…
Absolute rubbish Lowa Taurus Pro GTX
Bought a pair of Lowa Taurus Pro GTX. Was actually deceived by the price - an expensive boot, but don’t let the price tag deceive you.
A very poorly put together boot. On week one of wearing my boots, the top membrane on the outside of the boot tore, rendering the GTX redundant! and I wasn’t even doing anything strenuous in them!
The boot’s soles are also not robust enough to walk in snow or ice, unless you like skating all over the place.
Lastly they are not a covert boot - they squeak when I walk, and patrolling quietly of an evening is impossible.
In essence; a sub par boot, and I wouldn’t waste your money! There are far superior boots on the market, and less of a price tag to boot!
Great shoes and customer support
Great shoes and customer support. I bought 2 pairs of shoes in Germany and had customer support from the UK helping me with a issue requiring new laces. They raised no issue about this, no fobbing off, no "contact the retailer or any of that nonsense you get from some. other manufacturers.
The shoes are very well made, are standing up to hard wear hiking every weekend, and they still look great thanks to maintenance with Lowa cleaner, conditioner and proofer. The comfort is exceptional.
I don't really understand the negative reviews, most of which appear down to the physics & chemistry of hydrolysis which Lowa can't do anything about. PU soles rebound better over long hikes but will degrade if not stored absolutely dry and worn frequently. In 25 years of owning PU soled boots, it's only happened to me once & I learned from that.
The UK distributor has also been helpful in addressing any fit issues. When a pair of boots I ordered didn't fit, they identified a pair that would based on photos and feedback. They got it spot on and I've put over 150 km on those boots since. Only positive experiences so 5 stars!
Incredibly comfortable
Lowa Locarno GTX Wide fit shoes, a little firm under the front of my foot, but otherwise so comfortable. It’s like walking in a fluffy pillow. Sounds odd, actually feels odd to find a shoe so comfortable. I’ve only had them a few months so I can’t comment on it waterproofing so may update later, but so far, so good. Very good!
Great product and support from TKC Sales
I think it is fair to say that people are more likely to write negative reviews if they have a gripe than positive ones if they are content (including myself, qv. Sport Conrad), but even so [like MB & CT below] I am surprised that Lowa and their UK distributor have received such a low overall rating on this site - so feel obliged to chip in my two pennyworth...
I've worn Lowa boots for more than thirty-five years and as things stand wouldn’t buy anything else, especially as they are still made in Europe.
My first couple of pairs were full-leather ones (akin to the current Ranger III), but having sought advice from Tim in Customer Services and taken advantage of their excellent ‘try on at home’ service I plumped for the lighter Renegade GTX, which seems a popular model.
Now Goretex linings in boots are new to me and seemingly magical in terms of waterproofing, although they either work or they don’t. I recently discovered that I have the misfortune to have one of each(!), so I contacted TKC Sales to ask if they could be replaced. This was after fourteen months’ use, thus still qualifying under Lowa’s two-year warranty.
The upshot is that they are being replaced with a smile, and as far as I am concerned one can’t say fairer than that - these things sometimes happen. Of course I hope the same fault won’t reoccur, and if it does I will be disappointed, but we’ll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.
In the meantime I will continue to recommend Lowa to my walking pals.
Great Customer Service
I've had my LOWA Renegade Gtx boots 16 months and the stitching came away on one of the boots at the front. I emailed LOWA and a gentleman called James replied to my email the same day, he asked me for proof of purchase and a few other details and after a couple of days he is sending me a brand new pair of boots out. There customer service is excellent and i can't thank James enough.
lamentable ..
lamentable ... after 2 years of inactivity I get out my Iowa renegade (bought - 5 years ago.). after 1h30 of walking they exploded!!!! the manufacturer has been contacted and believes that this is normal because not used regularly enough so it is my fault...a brand to avoid!!
Comfortable shoes pure quality sole,new…
Comfortable shoes pure quality sole, new pair made in 2019 not under warenty. Not what you expect for the price
I won’t buy Lowa shoes again.
I won’t buy Lowa shoes again.
At the price you would expect a high quality, durable product. My Renegade GTX shoes were worn out after 18 months of light usage.
Despite a 2 year guarantee, customer service didn’t want to know.
Will go back to Salomon which go on for ever ( and cheaper too!)
Superb
I’m surprised to see such a poor rating for this company. My experience was excellent. Although I can’t yet comment on the product’s durability (Renegade GTX Mid), the customer service from James and delivery time were top notch. The quality of manufacture looks superb - I do hope the durability is as good.
Less than 8 months wear and now in the bin
Lowa Ronan Task Force boot, sole and heal worn away whilst used for a partime driving job.
This boot is now discontinued, however it had claims of a sole equal to a vibram sole, utter rubbish.
Knocked back on Warranty and told is general wear, a much cheaper pair of boots from Sports Direct have last years in comparison.
Very Disappointed. Poor quality boot.
Purchased a pair of Renegade GTX Mid Espresso/Brown in October 2020. Due to lockdown worn three times in Brecons. Spoke to Lowa direct but disinterested and passed me back to Cotswold Outdoors. These boots cost me £185 and they have come away from the sole of the boot already. Im now left with no boots until i can get them hopefully replaced by Cotswold Outdoors. Very poor customer service to date.
Lowa Explorer 2 pairs and both spring a leak
I bought a pair of Lowa Explorer gtx mid boots in December 2020,after only a month the right boot started to leak and I had to return them at end of Jan 2021 to go outdoors who were great and replaced them. However after using them in early 2021 and then again recently (Autumn 2021) the boots again started to take on water (this time both boots) Again took them back and go outdoors who provided a full refund. Very disappointed with a boot that isn't cheap and won't buy this brand again
Lowa Renegade GTX - Poor Quality Leaking boots
Bought a pair of what I thought were a good quality walking boot, the Lowa Renegade GTX. Unfortunately, I've been used to the excellent quality of Salomon but I now realise I made a big and expensive mistake. The Lowa Renegade leaks and after about 8 months the sole is coming away from the upper boot. I would recommend you think very carefully before buying a pair of these boots.
