I write this review as a warning to anyone considering parting with a significant sum of money for the promise of "curated, high-touch, personalized" romance. My experience with LUMA felt less like a dedicated search for love and more like an elaborate, high-pressure joke played entirely at my expense.

The initial consultation was a masterclass in salesmanship. This entire service operates on a profound disconnect between cost and competency. They charge boutique prices for what appears to be a low-effort, random pulling of names from an incredibly limited and uninspired pool of clients. The only thing "bespoke" about LUMA is the astronomical fee.

If you are looking for a service that will actually invest time and professional effort into your romantic life, you need to look elsewhere. LUMA is a financial black hole for the hopeful. Save your money. Put it toward a nice vacation or a really good therapist—you’ll be less cynical and far better off.

If you ever sign a contract with this company, you will lose your money. These are legally operating frauds because their contract can be summarized thus: “we don’t guarantee anything (even good service) and we will absolutely not give any refunds”.

Here’s how they operate:

1) Sales lady tells me what I want to hear. She even threw in flattery: “You have so much to offer.” What she meant was “You have so much MONEY to offer :-)”
2) Once the contract is signed and the money paid, they rush you into a photoshoot. The reason is to keep you busy for 3 days – the cooling period in California to cancel a contract. They insist you need their photographer even if you had a photoshoot a few months prior.
3) They will give the bare minimum “matches” they state in the contract. Nothing more – even though they say “minimum of 6 to unlimited matches”.
4) 4 months into my 6 month contract, they tell me something is wrong with me and I need “coaching” from a 23-year old. Why wait for 4 months? What kind of life experience or wisdom does a 23-year old have?
5) I got 1 “match” a month for a very hefty fee. That’s it. After the last match, I didn’t hear a word from them. They just disappeared into thin air.

This is gaining attention with the investigative journalism. I’d advise the owner of this operation to disappear before you are criminally prosecuted.
