As a user, Machinations has completely transformed the way I work. Before finding this tool, creating my systems was based on guesswork and was often frustrating. Now, I can simulate and optimize my ideas with precise data, which has saved me countless hours and made me much more efficient.

In addition to being a powerful tool, the experience with the team has been fantastic. You can really tell that they care about their users. This is an indispensable tool if you want to take your projects to the next level.

I've tried using Machinations a lot of times, I've studied it, I've been to webinars, I've used it and I've forgotten about it. Then I remember it exists, I come back, use it, love it, and hit the same wall every time, and I ALWAYS FORGET about this issue. It's the only thing stopping me from adopting this as a tool I can use on my studio and my team. (I'm a Creative Director, and I hold decision power to adopt this tool for my studio)

Machinations is a very useful tool, but they have a huge problem with their monetization. My biggest issue is the number of components you get. 100 components is ridiculous. You cannot begin to model a useful, complex system with that amount. Their own "Hades" simulation has over 450 Components. You cannot get that even on the most expensive plan. Machinations would only be useful to me if they improved their Component size to 500+. Either that or let me build many Modules of 50 components that I can then import onto other Machinations and would take only 1 Component space (check out Turing Complete on Steam for reference)

It's ridiculous that there are many "conveyor belt" games on steam that are basically Machinations-but-a-game that can run an almost infinite amount of components and we're limited in such a ridiculous way here. 100 components is a joke.

PS: I also have a bug on my profile where I have multiple LOCKED Machinations that I CANNOT DELETE and are taking up Account Component Space... Please fix this.

The customer support is outstanding. They respond within minutes and address every detail you mention about your diagrams, providing thorough and attentive assistance.

Really impressed by the customer support. Easy to access and doesn't disrupt the workflow.
Also, I was first expecting a bot to respond when I reached out but I was pleasantly surprised to be talking to an actual person.
The support was prompt and explained my query in detail.

Translating my knowledge from reading the book game design fundamentals has been a smooth process so far. Absolutely fundamental if you hope to build a sustainable, scalable game.

The platform is incredible and when I had a major bug on my diagram, preventing to even access it, the Customer Support and Developers team took a little bit of time to find out, but then, everything worked 100% again. Thanks for everything people and congrats for work!

everything is great but there are some bugs. I get different logical results in some runs with same condition.

1. Nodes and connections works great.
2. Precision of placing object could be improved, sometimes it automatically moves just wrong way, creates weird connections and placements, makes you unsure if you connected them right.
3. Functions are mess. They are extrelemely helpful, but to learn them you need a lot of time and effort.
4. Absolutely top software for seeing randomness in action, especially gatcha and gambling mechanics.
5. Option to prioritize nodes should be added. Right now, nodes that were added first are priorited, which forces you to start anew, when you need to chance priority of nodes.

Great free-to-use tool, helpful and responsive developers

Machinations is a good tool.
It is helpful in many ways in that you can simulate the operation of the flow chart in advance. This is especially true when it comes to economic structures.

However, unfortunately, it is difficult to design and simulate the simultaneous action of game mechanics connected with complex conditional relationships. Therefore, while Machinations is useful for games where numbers determine the state of game tokens, it is difficult to apply to games where non-numeric properties (such as the speed of changing the coordinates of game tokens) affect state determination.

For the above reasons, Machinations is definitely an excellent tool for numerical simulation, but it is a pity that it feels like a difficult tool to simulate the game itself.

As a game system and economy designer, this is the tool I need and use in my day to day. It's like Photoshop for artists.

I Love machinations! I have been using it since it was a flash app, the browser integration gives many improvements over the flash version.
The team behind Machinations is very open to hosting meetings to answer any questions and holds regular webinars to share best practices.

Good quick responses if you need help. I will probably get premium eventually, just need to make more games 1st, oh and learn to use the tool better.

Good but needs to add more items in it. Like maybe plugins that add items and maybe rules.

Machinations is an amazing game design tool. This tool allows for modeling and simulation of your game designs in a visualized and shareable way. The tool lets you focus on what solving the important problems in your functional game design.

Machinations is an extremely powerful tool, and very useful for modeling how complex systems will operate over time. Unfortunately, it is also very abstract and very dense. It will take some time to get used to modeling your systems with it. If you can get past the learning cliff, though, you will use it for virtually every system you ever model.

I first saw Machinations 9 years ago and I have been a huge fan of this tool since then. Back in the day it was a .swf file and a 300+ long textbook - now it's a modern online platform with a super friendly community, tons of tutorials, webinars and online collaboration.
