DO NOT BUY. Ordered $4200 Murphy bed cabinet and…
I ordered a $4200 Murphy bed cabinet and shelves unassembled. It was due within 6-8 weeks. By week 10-12, I was assertively pushing to get the bed. It arrived after 12 weeks and has been a disaster. There is virtually no applicable instructions. We had to call multiple times since parts were not labeled and there was no explanation for where or how to assemble unlabeled items. The pieces that were labeled were just as mixed up — labeled with painters tape and random numbers scribbled on the pieces. The entire unit is incredibly cheap particleboard which split every time we attempted to put the screws provided into the unit.
The worst of all was the mechanism for lifting the bed is something from the 1950s. All modern Murphy beds use hydraulic systems. This company uses springs that are not only loud but make installing the 500 lb frame impossible. Modern beds use a simple smooth installation of hydraulic lifts which is done with the bed on the floor. This unit requires multiple people to hold the 500 pound bed upright to line it up with a half inch track from which the springs repeatedly slip so the entire unit has to be removed and the process started again — with a large 500 pound frame. The unit is not level which is not based on the assembly but the actual product, the cut of the pieces, and the hardware.
We ordered this bed expecting a professional, well organized, quality assembly and beautiful finished unit. We received a horribly inferior product, that is poorly constructed with outdated hardware, and with the cheapest, most antiquated lift mechanism. The shop has a unique terms and conditions policy, whereby anyone purchasing an item from them waives all rights to a refund. BUYER BEWARE. Quality manufacturers and companies do not need such an extensive policy. They stand by their work and their products.
