Not value for money

I had two Japanese inspired whisky glasses . One is Sakura snow which is quite good. Good size n shape. However the Sengen is a bit of disappointment. The size is small n super light. It feels a bit cheap. Not value for money.

I bought the glass for Father’s Day

I bought the glass for Father’s Day, my husband loves it, says his whiskey definitely tastes better. To me the purchase was a great experience, great communication, great product.

Being in lockdown I ordered a gift for…

Being in lockdown I ordered a gift for a friend to be delivered directly to his home. I asked the office staff if they could add a birthday card with a note on it as well and I am happy to report that they went above and beyond to assist with my request. The product was also boxed up nicely and delivered promptly.

Scotch glasses

I was a bit worried these glasses would be very fine and too delicate. They are beautiful and a great size. I decided on 4 different types to test the ranges. Best decision. Highly recommend. Fit perfectly in your hand. Sit very well on the timber bases. Beautiful to look at. Nice to drink from with no nose bumping problems either.

Too big

Beautiful but very disappointing for me as I had thought they would be smaller. These are quite awkward for me to hold.

Buyer please beware.

When I found the Malt & Brew website, I was excited. We are very fond of Japanese Whiskey and thought, in particular the snow glasses would be an amazing Christmas gift to accompany a bottle of Japanese Whiskey.

I placed a large order - over $200 of glasses. The glasses were expensive - $30-$50 each - so I understandably expected quality.

What I received was cheap Chinese glassware that even had join and mould marks. There was nothing "hand crafted", or special about them. Maximum - I would have paid $5-10 for each glass if I have of been able to see them in store. Even the packaging was cheap and nasty - two thin glasses came without any packaging at all - I was totally amazed they were in one piece, and they were the two most expensive pieces at over $40.

Obviously, when they arrived, it was clear I could not give them as a gift - I would have been so ashamed to give this standard of glass for a milestone birthday or Christmas gift. I immediately wrote to the supplier and expressed to them how the quality was unbefitting of the price. They apologised and offered a return. That was a point in their favour.

I went to the post shop and ordered tracked return - the total was $31.00. I included all the paperwork and watched it to the destination. Upon arrival - I was issued a refund for the goods - not the postage (and considering they were so sub-standard, and not at all what was advertised, a part freight credit was called for). When I received the refund - it was about $5.00 less that what I paid for the goods. Why? Just why would you do that? And such a random amount? It was just an insult to be honest. So all together I lost about $40 on this company and I have nothing to show from it.

Because the glasses look so good in the photos and it's not the reality of the situation, I left some realistic (but not unkind or bashing) comments on advertisements where customer were obviously considering purchasing on Facebook - I was blocked and all my comments deleted. If this was a legitimate company, with a legitimate, why not just reply with your resolution to the matter? This action alone should speak volumes.

I have referred the matter to the ACCC who is investigating the company and the claims on the website. In the meantime - please be aware that these glasses are mass produced and can be purchased on places like Wish or Alibaba for much less that what is advertised on this site.

I know I worked pretty hard for my money - spending it here was just a huge disappointment. I don't want others to experience the same thing.

Thank you for your honesty with your review.

We are really disappointed that this was your experience with us and we want to do all we can to explain ourselves, rectify this and assure future customers that something like this will never happen again.

When you placed your order with us, we were still a developing brand, with very little practical experience dealing with the ins and outs of ecommerce. For my whole family actually, this was new, we hadn't done anything like it before and in the lead up to Christmas last year, it was exciting, challenging and also very overwhelming. Whilst trying to maintain good customer service, with only one person on the emails and simultaneously ensuring product quality and shipping (with the addition of COVID delays), things got out of hands with some orders. We take full responsibility for this and are regretful that your experience with us was that way.

As a company over the past 12 months we have evolved a lot and are proud of how much we have changed. We now work directly with our manufacturers and offer a faster to arrive and higher quality product available in Australia, with quality assurance and customer service being paramount. I like to think that the reviews of our company from the last few months reflect the change we are wholeheartedly embracing.

I'm not proud of the way we dealt with your order, looking back now, it was dismal and I want to offer my personal apology (being the one who was coordinating your initial enquiry) and an apology on behalf of our whole company.

I've reached out to you via email to confirm your bank details and mailing address. I'm not sure why a full refund was not accurately deposited to your account, but I do want to express that it was not our intention and when we say a full refund, we do in fact mean it. The remaining value will be deposited into your account as soon as your details are confirmed. We'd also like to send you a package, containing some of our glassware and a gift to show to you how we have evolved both in terms of packaging, quality and service.

Once again, I apologise from the bottom of my heart for this misconduct. Malt & Brew is something I've always dreamed of, so of course reading of experiences like this is truly upsetting.
