I accepted a one-day teaching assignment after being quoted a daily rate of £190. Only after completing the work did I discover that receiving payment would require me to register with a payroll provider I had not agreed to use. The alternative payment option resulted in a much lower take-home amount than I had expected.
I raised my concerns with the agency, but I felt the responses focused on explaining payroll deductions rather than addressing my concerns about the transparency of the payment arrangements before I accepted the booking.
Communication became unnecessarily prolonged, and I was left feeling frustrated and disappointed by the overall handling of the matter.
Based on my experience, I would encourage other candidates to ask for a detailed explanation of the payment arrangements, payroll provider, and expected take-home pay before accepting any assignment.
