I used this website for my organic chemistry 2 course, but it was also helpful when reviewing old concepts from orgo 1. My professor barely taught us anything but I was able to teach the entire course to myself using just this as my resource. Thank you so much for the simplified and clear explanations and diagrams. I ended with a 95 in the class :)

I really appreciated both the clear explanation of the mechanisms and the many guided exercises to practice with. It's a much clearer and more intuitive approach to studying organic chemistry compared to the methods I had used before. It helped me through 2 exams I had been struggling with for a long time.

As a Chemistry teacher, I’m extremely particular about the resources I use and recommend to my students. I pay close attention to the accuracy of the content, the depth of the concepts, the way they’re explained, and especially the quality of the questions — and Master Organic Chemistry consistently delivers.
What I love most is how well the concepts are broken down. The explanations are clear, precise, and actually build understanding, rather than encouraging students to simply memorize information. The questions are equally strong and make students genuinely think and apply what they’ve learned.
I’ve used and reviewed a lot of Chemistry resources over the years, and this is easily one of my favourites and one I confidently recommend to my students.

I mainly used the notes to revise for my University exams. They were extremely helpful in covering topics I needed a second explanation for. The diagrams are amazing and help convey the information well. I haven’t seen another online set of notes like this online. I used it for 3 months and would definitely recommend.

I teach Organic Chemistry and have recommended this website to the students as a supplementary material for at least 7 years!
The website is an excellent resource - this is the only website I recommend to students whether they are learning intro org in gen chem or Org 1 and 2. Each topic is thoroughly-researched with original literature cited, but the content is not presented in a dry, jargon-y way. It is updated regularly with novel insights. The topics are well organized, the figures are clear and beautiful, and challenging concepts/mechanisms are broken down into understandable parts. James also ensures that the concepts are contextualized - why should students learn this reaction? Finally, apart from the content being excellent, the website is also very entertaining. I love the cultural references, history of science detours, and, especially, the stereochemistry cat!

Master Organic Chemistry is the best online resource for supporting student (and faculty!) learning. I have been using MOC with my Organic Chemistry 1 & 2 courses for several years now. The students love the content and extra study resources, but most importantly it is the most current, accurate, and understandable resource out there. The text is very conversational, so you feel like you are part of the story and the figures and images are very clear and informative. Better than any textbook!

Phenomenal resource for undergrad ochem for me. Everything is organized has neat reaction sequences and arrows and has details about important rules or useful rules of thumb. I’d recommend it to anyone who needs an O-chem reference tool

I really enjoyed all of the articles that were provided as well as the quizzes and relatable humor. Once I got the membership, the cheat sheets were so awesome, I had it pinned in my browser at all times… lol.
My only thought would be to include videos, covering the content in the articles because I personally learn much better with videos rather than reading.
Overall I loved the site and recommend it to anyone who needs help in chemistry!

MOC was incredibly helpful during my accelerated summer Organic Chemistry II course. It presented the material in a much more concise way than my textbook. The Organic Chemistry II summary in 19 pages was especially helpful because I was taking the entire course in only five weeks. The diagrams, charts, and reactions summaries helped me to elucidate the key information from the chapters covered in my textbook. I also found the Reagents Guide extremely useful. There are so many reagents in Organic Chemistry II, and some can be used in several different ways, so having them organized into an index made studying the reactions much more manageable. I would definitely recommend MOC to anyone taking Organic Chemistry!!!

As a non-american high school student this website helped me tremendously at learning organic chemistry at an olympiad level. Everything is structured clearly and it builds a strong base for organic chemistry

I used Mastering Organic Chem to supplement my class and it was an immense help in excelling in the class. The review questions were so helpful when reviewing for tests and the final exam. I highly recommend it!

MOC is the most useful and helpful learning tool for OCHEM 1 & 2! Topics that were hard for me to understand at first were made simple through the step-by-step mechanics and explanations. The extra practice/flashcard quizzes were a great supplement to my university's material. The website is easy to use, and for only 10 dollars a month, my grades definitely appreciated it. I highly recommend MOC!!

As everyone who has studied a related field knows, organic chemistry is something that almost everyone has to go through at some point.
The problem is that the subject is incredibly broad, and so many different rules and concepts are intertwined with one another that it can be difficult to truly understand everything without a very well-organized set of notes that lets you see the bigger picture at a glance. In my experience, even after going back to textbooks several times to understand the reasoning behind different rules, I rarely found a textbook that could answer the questions that naturally came up while studying in a simple, clear, and visual way.
Master Organic Chemistry, however, had all of that.
Whenever I was studying and found myself asking, “But why does this work this way?”, Master Organic Chemistry already seemed to have a concise and clear answer waiting for that exact question. What I especially liked about studying through the Master Organic Chemistry notes in order was the way those questions were addressed at just the right moment. It almost felt as if the author knew exactly when a reader would start wondering about something and had intentionally placed the explanation there for them.
Whether you are learning organic chemistry for the first time, reviewing it, studying it as a hobby, or trying to understand the subject as deeply as possible, I think Master Organic Chemistry is one of the best resources you can choose. Considering how much value and effort has gone into it, the price I paid honestly felt far too low.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the author of Master Organic Chemistry for creating such an excellent resource, and for continuing to improve and refine it even now.
