Disappointing service for a Jobseeker

As a Jobseeker I applied for a suitable role, and received a call from a consultantant the next day. She left a msg to call her back with no contact number given. I called the office and was given her contact details and her email address. I emailed her 3 times, phoned her several times and left voicemails but to no avail. I applied on the system 4 times for the same role, but no reply. I had told her that I wasn't able to speak at the time but if she could call me back between 4.45pm-5.30pm after asking her what time she would be available until. I didn't receive any call and I left a couple of voicemails. The next day I was also put through to a team member of hers, and the phone immediately disconnected. I then called again and was transferred to someone not in her dept, who said she would pass on my message to her to call me. Still waiting! Absolutely awful service and extremely disappointed as I had a strong chance to get this job!

My experience with this company has…

My experience with this company has been far from positive. Placed in a temp role, promised training not given, line manager rude and bullying, was shouted and sworn at. Spoke to the recruiter and was asked to "give it another week" well it got worse and I left the role - Michael Page did not tax me in the four weeks I worked through them, did not ask for P45 or fill in a New Starter form, no tax taken. Finished on 3rd March, had to request my P45 from payroll on 27th March as still not received. Got P45, it had incorrect total earnings on it. Highlighted this to Michael Page immediately, Payroll are "still looking into it". Just rang for an update, condescending and patronising woman who takes the party line "it's with payroll, you can't contact them directly, I don't know what their timeframe is" There needs to be investigation and legislation around agency payroll providers, they mostly seem incompetent, unreachable and not fit for purpose. I do not recommend Michael Page, job was terrible, support non existent, back office support worse than inadequate and they have screwed up my tax record.

An entire month has passed now and heard nothing from these!
Shocked at no feedback or update
Even a quick email to say sorry not successful and we have nothing else currently would be polite
Could of been looking elsewhere during this time

If you value your career or your time, use a different agency.

I had a meeting with a recruiter who realised I wasn’t in her specific area and promised to pass my details to colleagues for local opportunities. Despite following up directly three separate times and being told they'd be in touch, I have heard absolutely nothing. So frustrating and disrespectful to waste a candidate's time with empty promises.

Sent three emails over a decent period re job - not a peep

Sent three emails over a decent period of time to the named person looking aftera BDM role in travel. Not a peep back. Surely, a one-liner of "thanks received" would be better than nothing? Is it up to me to pick up the phone? Or just tell me that my application has been received. A little bit of courtesy goes a long way

Avoid this company

Contacted by Micheal Page regarding a job they have which would suit me. Had a call and all seemed well. Then ghosted, no reply from email and won’t answer telephone calls. Lived up to their reviews.

Very rude

Very rude, these people have no intention of helping you find work. They collate as much information as possible probably to sell on. Want to know information that isn't relevant to job application. Why did you leave a role 12 years ago etc... etc... Why did you leave a job that paid so well?? beyond noisey and invasive. Unprofessional and rude. Joke company. avoid.

Dreadful

Do not trust this company,they are well versed in providing replies to criticism which makes you feel they receive plenty.
They provided a person with a CV that read well until we had our doubts about his ability,when we checked his CV we discovered that it was to say the least fictitious in many areas,when we raised this the reply from the agency was it’s our responsibility to check the CV and of course the 8 week period to replace the person they introduced was out of time to replace him FOC so they pocketed £5k for incompetence,so if it’s our responsibility to check his CV what do they do for the fee.maybe it’s recycling the same person.

Disappointing!

I had been in contact with the firm for around six months or slightly less. I have had no contact about any jobs at all. No wonder this firm has been poorly rated. Plus, I wouldn’t recommend this agency to anybody that is trying/attempting to get roles within accountancy and finance at all.

Commission breath

Can smell commission coming from the recruiters breath. Some of the recruiters put you forward for roles without realizing how bad the company is. I tried calling back the recruiter for feedback straight after the interview as they requested this but fobbed me off and only called for the feedback a week later when they had an update on the role. Only contact you based on their interest, money, money, money. On top of this the recruiter had sent me two calendar invites by mistake, I ended up attending the call (one that was meant for another candidate) and it was extremely awkward. Further adds to the carelessness of some recruiters in this company.

Very disappointed

Very disappointed. Having been told I was being put forward for a job that I would be the perfect fit for, I have heard nothing since. I managed to get a hold of the recruiter by phone to be told she was at lunch and would call me back only to hear nothing and despite trying calling several times it just goes straight to voicemail. They don't respond to messages left nor to emails asking for an update. I am starting to wonder if there was actually a job. I have never come across an agency that treats candidates with such little regard in the 38 years that I have been working and dealing with recruitment agencies. I even tried applying for another job and left a voicemail but no response. Not sure if it is worth bothering with them.

I tried to call them to enquire if there is suitable job vacancy in singapore for remote positions. But they ended the call one time. Another time they told they say sorry. We don't when and immediately 3nded the call. I told them them I would like to enquire job vacancies.

They never, ever answer the phone or emails. I applied for about 8 jobs for which I knew I had the exact skills and experience and never heard a thing! Not sure how they fill positions. 2 friends had the same experience.

Breaching GDPR

09 Nov 25 I've just been spammed by them (michaelpage[at]mail.michaelpage.co.uk) asking me to "Take part in the world’s largest talent survey" . This despite having no account with them. I did have an account with them, once, but they deleted that ages ago. So why do you still have my email address to spam me with? It's a GDPR Breach.

I had a wonderful experience.

I had a wonderful experience during my job search via the Michael Page portal. After I applied for an interesting job I saw, I was contacted by Regan McPhilbin from MP Liverpool. She always had time to talk, encourage me and give advice. I did get the job and I cannot wait to embark on my new professional journey.

For me is much easier, I have registered a long time ago as I was desperate to find a job, and absolutely no answer, nothing! Just absolutely nothing!! Now I am avoid any job roles posted by them!!
