Slow shipping

Minerva used to be wonderful but I’ve found that every time I’ve ordered within the past couple of years, there is quite a significant wait on them to post fabric out.

I used to heavily recommend them to people but I’m not sure it’s quite worth it now. I don’t know if they’ve cut staff or what, it’s quite obvious that there is some kind of issue given the other reviews on here.

Very poor delivery service

Its a shame they are so slow to deliver. And for this reason, once I finally get my order I will not be ordering from Minerva again. Minerva have a huge range of fabrics and patterns and they are of a really good quality, and I don't mind paying a little bit extra for good quality. But, I have ordered 3 times from Minerva and their despatch and delivery times are terrible. I realised from my first 2 orders that they were slow to despatch, for my 3rd (and final) order i paid extra for an express delivery which is advised as 24hr Royal Mail delivery. I did this because I had a week off work and I wanted to work on a project I had started. I ordered on the Sunday, the next day was a Bank Holiday Monday so I knew that it probably wouldn't be despatched until Tuesday, but that was fine. I would get it on Wednesday and it still gave me a few days to work on it. It is now Friday, my order hasn't arrived and I have just received an email to say it has just been despatched. So I expect I'll get it tomorrow, Saturday, provided there are no further delays? But, my week off is over now. So I paid extra for an express delivery but my order wasn't pushed through as an express at all. I will go elsewhere for my fabric and patterns because Minerva are unreliable. And, as I said before, it is a shame. I am disappointed as I thought I had found a really good sewing supplier but who wants to wait so long for sewing supplies?

I had a terrible experience!

I had a terrible experience!! I ordered 3 patterns which took over a week to arrive with 48 hour postage. Only 2 patterns arrived, I contacted Minerva and had to follow up. Finally got a response almost 2 weeks since my order (with no apology!!!), just saying my pattern was out of stock and when it's back in stock they will post it to me!

In my previous emails I had made it very clear I needed the 3rd pattern urgently, it was for a wedding guest dress. I don't have time to wait for it to be back in stock and posted to me, I am shocked I wasn't offered a refund instantly!

I also am shocked they even sent me 2 patterns without first explaining a 3rd one is missing ? If they knew prior to shipping that only 2 could be shipped, why would they not alert the customer?

Honestly some of the worst customer service and delivery time I have ever had. Will avoid and encourage others to avoid as well.

There has been huge disruption in the Big 4 patterns in 2026 since the UK distributor went into administration. We have been able to get supply lines back in place with patterns now coming into us directly from the US company. Our first few deliveries from the US have been subject to delays and we do apologise that this delay has impacted the stock we had available for your order.

We take your points on board in terms of communication and I'll make sure this is passed onto our customer services team to see whether this can be improved going forwards.

Order missing and customer service silence

Placed an order 3 weeks ago, was told there was a handling time of 5-7 days then silence from customer service. I have no idea where my order is, there is no update on delivery and can't get hold of customer services. Absolutely dreadful and more expensive than lots of other places. Wish I hadn't ordered!

Beware Print on Demand fabric

I have been reaonsonably happy with the service I have recieved with Minerva and the quality of the fabric. However this is not the case with their Print on Demand fabric. I ordered some in late December 2025 and being in no great hurry i was happy to wait the for the three to six weeks advertised to receive it. I also ordered some thread and a pattern to go with the fabric and to receive together. Six weeks became 8, 9, 10 and no indication of when I might receive it. At some point I received the pattern and thread, but they weren’t much use without the fabric. I began to communicate with Minerva ( they never initiated contact) and despite reassurance and false hopes it gradually became apparent that they really didn’t have a clue when (or if) the fabric would arrive, yet it was still on the website with a lead time of 3 to 6 weeks.By mid April 2026 I finally admitted defeat cancelled the order and and sought a refund. I imagine they are reviewing their relationship with their POD suppliers and I think they should also work on their communications with customers.

Print on Demand Delays & Poor Communication

Updated 06/05/26 – This is now my second review, and unfortunately my experience has continued to decline. I placed a POD order on 27th February and, almost 10 weeks later, I am still waiting with no confirmed dispatch date.

Throughout the process I have repeatedly had to chase for updates due to a lack of proactive communication. While the responses from staff have been polite, they have largely been vague and provided little real clarity beyond updates being “expected” or “imminent”.

After weeks of waiting, I was eventually told the fabric had arrived but had to be returned because it had been printed incorrectly. Unfortunately, this was only communicated after I chased again.

I have since had to place a separate backup order to avoid missing an important event. Following further emails and public comments, Minerva have now upgraded this newer order to Royal Mail 24 delivery and advised it should dispatch either today or tomorrow and arrive before the end of the week, which I do appreciate.

I have also now finally been given a further estimated timeframe for the original POD order, with the latest update suggesting it should arrive with Minerva by 18th May. However, after several previous missed ETAs, they have understandably stated they are reluctant to provide firm dates.

While I appreciate the more detailed response and improved communication today, I still feel customers should not have to repeatedly chase or comment publicly in order to receive clearer updates after such significant delays.

The most frustrating part is that the fabrics and designs themselves are genuinely lovely. However, the communication, lead times and overall customer experience have consistently let the company down.

Based on both my experience and many recent reviews, Minerva’s advertised POD delivery estimates do not currently reflect the reality many customers are experiencing.

Minerva Fabrics website is very poor and inaccurate

Minerva Fabrics website is very poor. Other textile websites can be seen to update availability as I add items to basket. Minerva Fabrics does not update availability. Therefore although when I ordered fabric showed 18.4 metres in fact they had none.

Placed an order on a Tuesday. On Friday Minerva Fabrics contacted twice. First time a product was out of stock. I phoned and the product was out of stock in all colours. Later Minerva email that they could not supply fabric ordered. Would I like it pieces or did I want to cancel order.
At that point their phone lines are too busy and will only accept voicemail. They did not respond.

On the Tuesday I had ordered fabric and new patterns from Poundfabrics, Jaycotts and 2 sellers on EBAY all had arrived by Friday.

Shop elsewhere. Minerva Fabrics are over priced and unreliable.

I cannot fault the organisation, fabric preparation or staff. Well done Minerva.

Great Customer Service!

My first order with this company and I won't be repeating the experience. Ordered on 14th April, products arrived today, 23rd April, and they are not the colour I ordered!
Impressed that the company replied to my email within 40 minutes and they are now investigating.....
A technical hitch on the search facility of their website. Now returning for exchange. Great Customer Service. Thank you Ryan

Very slow delivery

The website is excellent and the products I have received are good quality. The delivery speed however is exceptionally slow compared to similar vendors.

I recently placed an order for multiple items and all were delivered (after about 10 days) but one. The reasoning was that they didn’t have it in stock (but sold it anyway). I was unable to cancel as it was part of a larger order. It took a further two weeks to receive the item which was key to the work I was doing.

Excellent Fabric Fest

It was my first visit to the Minerva Fabric Fest and definitely won't be my last. It was exceptionally busy when I arrived but everything was so well organised. From the gentleman on the door, who was very helpful explaining to any newbies how it works, to the payment and packing process. there were many people around to ask for help.
There was a lovely atmosphere and it was great to see many familiar Minerva faces although I didn't get to speak to any of them, maybe next time.
An excellent event and I thoroughly enjoyed my few hours 'mooching' through all the excellent fabrics especially the linen section downstairs.
Well done Minerva and thank you for the time and effort it must take putting on such an event.

Worst Customer Service

As a very loyal long term customer who has spent thousands at Minerva, attended in person events and been a craft club member, and someone that has regularly and consistently recommended Minerva to my followers and sewing pattern customers, I have really tried to put off leaving this review.

But the customer service, and service in general at Minerva over the last 12 months has been the worst I've ever experienced.

It's become an ongoing joke in my household, 'oh another email from Minerva, whats the issue this time'. And there is nearly always an issue. Either they don't actually have the fabric you've ordered, it's due to come in a months time even though it said in stock. Or it's available but only in small scraps. Or they send completely the wrong colour and then upon sending photos of the mistake, say they can't see the problem (I ordered beige and they sent purple).

The sheer number of issues is horrendous but the customer service makes it so much worse. There is rarely, if ever, an apology and they never go out of their way to make sure the customer isn't inconvenienced for their mistakes.

I can see from the reviews and from online forums that I'm not the only one that's absolutely fed up of Minerva. Please fix this issue before you lose all your customers. I want to shop at Minerva but you're making it really unpleasant to do so.

Recieved wrong fabric.Won't refund postage!

I'm a qualified dressmaker of over 30 years so know my fabric! I purchased a 'heavy suiting fabric' @ 200gsm but received a budget fabric @ 75gsm. Upon returning as 'incorrect item sent', they only refunded me for the fabric, not the postage which was £3.99, which is far too much for a small package which fits in the letter box! These companies get postage subsidised too!
When i rang to ask why I was not refunded the postage, I was told 'they were still investigating'. So why not wait until you've investigated? Then do the refund? They obviously had no intention of refunding the postage. They rang back saying the correct fabric was sent, but I received the cheap budget fabric
I've now opened a dispute with my bank. They've lost my custom! I hope it waa worth £3.99!

Superb guide

Being a self taught sewist of only 2 years this guide has been totally invaluable! I'm learning so much as I add the fabric swatches and its something I can keep coming back to for guidance . It marries up with the fabric masterclasses on YouTube as well so everything you need to know is right here. Fantastic!

Superb customer service

Minerva's customer service is superb. This week they delivered to me a piece of fabric I needed to work on the following day. Within two hours of ordering I received the "despatched" email, and the fabric arrived the following morning. Last year for World Book Day I bought a length of fabric from Minerva to make my granddaughter a Milly Molly Mandy dress - pink and white stripes. This year she decided she wanted to be MMM again - but she has grown taller over the past year, so I needed more fabric - fast! I ordered on Monday and within two hours the fabric was despatched and I received it the following morning. Today, instead of her school uniform, my five-year-old granddaughter is wearing the Milly Molly Mandy dress again. Thanks, Minerva staff!

Very poor service

In reply: the staff via email were very polite however I think it’s the company policy not to expedite shipping when they make a mistake. My order has now been shipped after 11 days but only on a second class postage

Very poor service from this company, failed to let me know the fabric I had ordered was out of stock until I had received the other part of my order.

The company then proceeding on the phone to tell me the exact date when it was coming back in stock and when it does they wouldn’t expedite my shipping despite it being their fault.

The lady on the phone was also extremely rude and had no intention of helping me. I only wish I had read the reviews sooner
