MOTHER HUBBARD, DUNDEE BRANCH.
MY SISTER IN LAW WAS TAKING US OUT FOR TEA ON THE 25TH OF SEPTEMBER.( THE LIFT WAS BROKEN. )MY SISTER IN LAW WENT DOWN THE STAIRS ON CRUTCHES WITH A KNEE BRACE.AND NOSE DIVED DOWN A STEP *WHICH SHE DIDN'T SEE, *MY SISTER IN LAW FELL BANGING HER HEAD ON THE FLOOR WITH FULL FORCE. PLUS WE WAITED 3 HOURS ON A AMBULANCE TO COME, THEY CHECKED HER OVER , BUT DECIDED NOT TO TAKE HER TO HOSPITAL. SHE WENT UP TO THE HOSPITAL THE NEXT DAY TO FIND OUT SHE HAD FRACTURED HER WRIST IN 6 DIFFERENT PLACES AND IS NOW AWAITING SURRGERY.

Fish was nice... Although no idea what it was. Chips were ok. But the halloumi sticks were revolting! Dripping in fat, didn't taste like halloumi and looked like the ones from Aldi (I have no issues with Aldi) but expect more if I'm paying £4 for 4!

I purchased a takeaway of salt and pepper chips and chicken strips for lunch today, and I have to say it was one of the worst takeaways I have ever had.

The chips were severely undercooked on the inside, yet overcooked on the outside. The centres were still hard and resembled raw potato, making them practically inedible. The condition of the food also raised concerns about the quality and cleanliness of the cooking oil used, as everything was excessively greasy.

The food was so poor that I ended up throwing almost the entire meal in the bin after managing to eat just a couple of chips.
I find it extremely disappointing that an establishment serving food to paying customers could deliver such a poor standard. There should be clear food preparation standards in place, supported by competent, properly trained staff, to ensure that customers receive food that is cooked correctly and is fit to eat.

I made the effort to leave my workplace, drive to your establishment, park up and collect this meal, only to return with food that was completely unacceptable. The experience was genuinely abysmal, and I feel that the time and money I spent have been completely wasted.

The fish was ok but not very big to be honest I paid
£11.95 for fish and chips at the new nottingham branch on alferton road the chips were ok fluffy and soft but I dint think the prices are very reasonable being in a student area i dont think I will be going again its not worth the money that's my honest opinion no hard feeling or negative reviews for mother hubbards.

Mondays fish and chips is buy one get one free. They always give one medium size fish and the tiniest fish they can get. So ypu dont realy get 1 fiah free.

One would expect a decent experience but honestly its the worst service and value for money i have visited in the whole of 2026.

Let's start with the food. Over priced nonsense. Do not bother the mushy peas look toxic bright green, they have to be seen to believe there is such a colour £2.50 a tub for the privilege, £2.50 × 1 muffin buttered by your dog

Im a bit old fashioned, I remember a time when you sat in to have fish and chips, you'd get proper mushy peas bread and butter and nice cup of tea, and it never broke the bank.

Unlike this place.

Don't get me wrong I dont mind paying a premium for good food and service.

Nothing quite like a good chippy, have it packed separately, tin of mushy peas 59p, loaf of bread £1.19 win win.

Twice there now orded special got home to fond no sauce that is included. Pity they did not forget the lousy undercooked chips

We stopped at Mother Hubbards, Lakeside for lunch today and we all ordered the fish and chip lunch deal. I can honestly say it was the BEST MEAL we have had in weeks. Fish batter perfect, so light and crunchy, and the chips were better than first class

We are really looking forward to calling again. Fantastic meal

Absolutely awful . Just a portion of chips that were totally inedible. Recooked from night before without any taste of potato, dried & shrivelled up. First & last time I go to Mother Hubbards Dunstable & will pass on the word of the standard of food.

Just visited mother hubbards for the first time and was really disappointed, Ask for cod and chips wss told no cod! Had to settle for haddock which arrived on top of a paper carton of cold chips, returned the chips and was told to eat the fish and the chips would follow! Surely if you eat in you should be afforrded a plate and cutlery not wooden take away forks and a carboard box The biggest waste of £21.
Lesson learned do not go there again.

We have been to the Rochdale, Went with husband and his parents and it was awful, mushy peas and curry sauce were like water and cold, chips hadn't been done properly may as well ordered potatoes scallops, fish wasn't nice either, it's usually piping hot, wouldn't mind but spent over £40. Staff couldn't be bothered and blamed shift before them. Not good at all.

Awful experience staff is extremely rude not even know basic customers services.
I been mother Hubbard 92 lagram Lane Bradford BD7 2AD this evening.
I placed order on till by a black lady.
Wait over 25 minutes for fish and chips,after me almost 16 customers came and been served I was still waiting I go towic to ask how long they said wait for fresh chips,i go back after few minutes and asked them why they served many customers after me and keep asking me to wait then that black lady took a box and left on deck it was open box and she started to serve other customer, it was really disappointing and frustrated then I asked other staff to pack my order she took the box put into carrier bag and left like she bin some waste didn't handover and didn't add any fork,souse and wipes,
Never again and won't recommend to anyone, please avoid them

I've eaten some bad chips in my life but tonight I tried these....chewy chips(could have been cooked weeks ago) even the battered things were disgusting. Fish bites covered in the same awful batter rendering them inedible only saving grace was the small pot of peas....even my dogs struggled...best advice AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE...I couldn't score low enough so a very reluctant 1 star..

I ordered home delivery through uber eats tonight. the food was like rubber the fish batter was flat and tasted stale, the peas were undercooked and the gravy was just a tub of jellyfied nonsense... i spent £33 on the meal and will never ever return to them. The quality is serverely lacking for the prices they are charging.

Awful fish was burnt chips where white and the oil used to cook them tasted rank!! peas tasted just as bad and where a vivid shade of green. Worst food ever nothing like a chippy meal complained but all the guy said was sorry so clearly didnt want to refund us impressive looking cafe but food is awful

Ordered batters sausage and chips x2 both with curry sauce. A portion of batters chips and 3 extra sausages it came to 45£ on uber and it arrived with missing multiple items of food then u cannot get hold of the restaurant and uber thinks your making it up as no restaurant misses out that amount of food! Joke!! Won’t be ordering again!

I visited the Stockport branch today with my family, and I have to say the food was absolutely appalling. It was a complete waste of money.

We ordered the special large fish, but it was almost entirely batter with barely any fish inside. When we went to the counter to ask for a replacement, the staff refused and told us, “That’s the way we make it.” They then said we should have told them how we wanted it cooked. How does that make any sense? If you’re ordering a special large fish, you expect it to contain a decent portion of fish without having to specify that.

The fish bites were also incredibly greasy. All we could taste was oil rather than fish, and the chips were poor quality too. Overall, both the fish and chips were well below the standard we expected.

This was a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately, we definitely won’t be returning.

Chips and curry sauce were luke warm chips were very pale wont be back
