Outstanding Service from Start to Finish

We recently took out a new policy, and Charlotte Clifton handled everything. The level of service was exceptional from the very beginning, and based on this experience, we look forward to working with her for many years to come.

In all my years dealing with insurance, I've never received such fantastic service. Other brokers had quoted between £18k and £13k for fleet vehicle insurance, but I declined. Then Charlotte reached out, was honest and transparent from the start, and managed to secure our fleet insurance for just £5.8k.

Thanks to Charlotte for making this process so smooth—I would highly recommend her!

Avoid like the plague!

A pathetic, embarrassing and vile insurance company who use their replies to deflect from who and what they are.

If you’re looking for an immoral, criminal and crooked insurance broker, Motum Insurance Services are the one for you. No doubt some nonsensical and pathetic response will come from Motum on here, but I implore you all to ignore it and stay away from them like the plague!

I explored new insurance options and received a cheaper quote from Motum Insurance Services after they called me randomly as a 3rd party. After reluctantly paying a deposit (because that’s what the Account Executive wanted), they later informed me of an undeclared claim against us that I was unaware of. To avoid complications, I decided to stay with my current insurer and requested that Motum did not proceed and that the new policy was not to be incepted. In turn, I also requested that my deposit be refunded. Despite this, Motum threatened cancellation fees and ultimately, 12 days later, refused to refund my £605.15 deposit. They also allowed Aviva to proceed in starting the insurance when explicitly advised not to and charge an additional £548.78 as a monthly payment for a policy that should never have been live. Despite promises to resolve the issue, Motum has not refunded any of the payments.

Despite numerous attempts to resolve this, Motum's staff were extremely unhelpful and insisted they could keep the money.

The member of staff who I was transferred over to was presented as a Director of the business and quite successfully goaded me into losing my cool over the entire situation on the phone upon being advised that they will not be refunding me. He refused to answer whether the policy had incepted or not and stood by that it’s their money now and it will not be refunded, but I’m more than welcome to complain. Knowing how much the loss of £605.15 for absolutely nothing impacts things, I lost my temper and hung up the phone.

I sought out one of the Directors and subsequently put Motum Insurance Services on 7 working days notice to refund the money being illegally held by themselves, or I will proceed with legal action as well as providing honest reviews about their thievery and disgraceful business practices. The Director I contacted responded to my email advising that following FCA guidelines, Motum have up to 8 weeks to perform an investigation and respond with their decision. If I had become a customer of Motum and the policy had officially incepted then yes, of course, the policy would be protected via FCA guidelines and an investigation would be required. However, as stated above, I have NEVER become a customer of this firm and the policy was NEVER incepted.

After taking advice from a contact of mine at the FCA as well as legal advice, it has been made clear that Motum have zero grounds to withhold the deposit money as the policy was never incepted and ultimately, I never became a customer of theirs.

Legal proceedings will now be commencing against Motum Insurance Services and even though my warnings were fair and just, it’s quite clear that their desire to punish me for deciding not to become their customer seems to outweigh them doing the morally and legally correct thing and putting an end to this matter once and for all.

I am now down a total of £1,153.93. I have never had such an abysmal, stressful and mentally draining experience with an insurance broker in my life and if I’m able to stop at least one person from going anywhere near them then I’ve done my job with this review!

Many thanks for taking the time to post your review, I note your review was posted and updated as of today 18/10/2024.

Feedback is naturally always important to us as it allows us the opportunity to correct any mistakes we may have made and learn for the future.

Unfortunately sometimes the feedback like in this instance is slightly different from the reality, as such to provide some balance.

You initially agreed to take the policy out and declared that you had, had no claims at all as such cover was bound on that basis and you proceeded to pay a deposit to us.

We then was made aware by the underwriter that they had seen the same risk from another insurance broker that had declared claims.

At no point did you seek to correct the non-disclosure despite having the quotation for a number of days before proceeding.

At this point we could have retained all lost revenue on the basis that you failed to disclose the claim, despite another broker being aware of it.

Upon review and as a gesture of goodwill we took the decision to reimburse you on the basis the policy hadn't yet started and therefore there was no monies owed to the underwriter and our time we would take a financial hit on.

We also arranged for Premium Credit to reimburse you the payment they had taken.

To address the things in your review that are completely false:-

1. We did inform you that as you had logged a complaint and you had taken the decision to threaten us with the FOS, Legal Action and most importantly Negative Reviews. We informed you in order to log a complaint with the FOS you would be required to follow our complaints procedure first.

This is something that is published on the FOS website, not something we've simply decided to apply. Ironically it took less than 5 working days for us to resolve this and confirm that we would reimburse you despite your failure to disclose.

2. You have never commenced legal proceedings against us as you was reimbursed and you do not have a legal case

3. You are not £1153.93 out of pocket as you was reimbursed.

4. You reluctantly paid the deposit. You received a quote in writing from us and it was some 2 days later that you confirmed on a recorded telephone call you would like to go ahead and you paid the deposit. It is standard process that when you confirm you wish to go ahead with an insurance policy the deposit is paid at the same time.

You was not forced into doing this, you simply took advantage of a cheaper premium based on incorrect information provided by you.

In terms of challenging the moral and legally correct thing to do, we have done this.

Unfortunately your review is nothing more than a fabricated version of reality in order to slander us.

Did we make some mistakes along the way quite possibly and there is learnings that we can take away from it, particularly in the instances of clients not disclosing the facts to us and breaching the Insurance Act 2015.

We wish you every success in the future with your endeavours.

Really poor conduct in terms of their…

Really poor conduct in terms of their processes and communication.
Failed to send out critical policy documents initially then sent me documents that should have not been sent to myself.
Failed to provide terms and conditions. The ‘amazing’ Charlotte is apparently now on retraining because of this error I have been informed.
When cancelling the policy I was informed there may be a cancellation fee, no problem, to be expected. Didn’t hear anything for 4 months then received an email out of the blue informing me we owed nearly £1000 with no explanation of this or any further information and threatening legal action if not received within 7 days.
Strangely enough when I questioned all of this and demanded appropriate documentation and breakdowns this amount went down to just over £300. This suggests to me they may have been trying to gain financial benefit by failing to provide the appropriate information.
Even when demanding money they failed to provide any sort of invoice.
Very poor and unprofessional conduct by everyone I have dealt with.
Would absolutely recommend to avoid this company.
I have had to escalate my concerns to the FOS.

I can confirm at the time of submitting the invoice across to you this included all charges in line with our Terms of Business Agreement which is contractually binding as part of the contract of insurance.

We provided you with a comprehensive breakdown of all of the charges.

Upon review it came to our attention that our sales executive had not sent the Terms of Business Agreement, with that in mind we waived all of our charges including the lost revenue from the cancellation reducing the total balance to the amount simply owed to the underwriter.

Once this had been completed we then provided you with an updated invoice which you proceeded to settle.
