I originally came to Tenerife as a volunteer and ended up staying for a year and a half, eventually joining the team myself.

It was an incredible experience, where I got to learn so much about cetacean research, spend countless hours out on the ocean and work alongside people who genuinely care about marine conservation and the work they do.

I left the project with far more than I came with: new skills, unforgettable experiences, some of my closest friendships, and a connection to the island that has stayed with me ever since.

I couldn't recommend the experience enough to anyone wanting to contribute to meaningful marine conservation while becoming part of a very special community.

I spent 3 months with the amazing team of MutatioMare, and I would recommend this experience to everyone who wants to get involved in marine conservation. I didn't have much prior knowledge, just a lot of curiosity and passion. However, that didn't matter at all because you'll learn everthing along the way. The team supports you with everything and is incredibly patient, no matter your experience or age.

During my time there, I met so many wonderful people from all over the world and of all ages, learning something different from everyone. Living together with people who share the same passion was something that I absolutely loved and dearly miss.

Over the weekends, there is plenty of time to explore the island, and the team is more than happy to give recommendations or help with bookings.

In short, I felt supported by the team at all times, learned a lot about the resident pilot whales and other cetaceans, and this experience strengthened my passion for (marine) conservation even more! I would recommend this 100% and can't wait to go back one day.

I spent a fantastic month volunteering with Alejandra and the team in Tenerife. As someone in my mid-50s, I was older than most of the volunteers, but I was welcomed from day one and quickly felt part of the team.

The project was professionally run, with safety always the priority. I especially enjoyed the time out on the boat and seeing the conservation work first-hand. Alejandra is an excellent leader who kept everything organised while making sure everyone felt included.

It was a brilliant experience, with a great team, preparing and sharing meals together, and plenty to do after each day’s work. I’d recommend it to anyone, whatever their age.

Fantastic mission in Tenerife: I learned and contributed to a meaningful conservation program and the team in charge was deeply engaged, sharing their passion and making us also discover this amazing place. I highly recommend !!!

My month spend here was the perfect break from work. The highlight was obviously monitoring the pilot whales in detail, but there are so much opportunities to learn more about explore ocean life as a whole. The weekends off are perfect to explore the rest of the naturally and culturally suprisingly interesting island. Had a great time with all the staff and other participants as well.
