was the best birth experience anyone could ever hope for. It healed me in so many ways after my first birth, it almost makes me want to do it all over again.

I felt so safe with Sarah there, between the birth prep I'd done, the education and support from Sarah beforehand and Sarah being there it left no room for doubt I could get through my home VBAC.

I wish all women could experience birth in that way and the joy of home birth. I really really couldn't have asked for anything more.

How do I even put in to words how incredible Sarah and Jenny are, and what their support meant to us throughout this pregnancy and beyond!

After a really tricky first birth that left us feeling distrustful of mainstream maternity care, we looked into hiring an independent midwife who would be able to support us with our wishes - however we decided to birth our baby.

Sarah really stood out due to her experience and passion for helping women with out of guideline births, and I knew I wanted to explore a VBAC after a previous category 1 section.

Midwife means “with women” and let me tell you Sarah held our hand through our entire journey every step of the way.

Pregnancy understandably brought up lots of fears, doubts and worries which Sarah held space for, and supported both me and my husband throughout. She provided outstanding, rational, evidence based care and really built us up to be able to make the best possible choices surrounding our birth.

And it paid off in the best possible way, when with the support of Sarah and Jenny I delivered my little girl at home, under candlelight in my living room.

It’s an experience that will not only last a lifetime, but that healed parts of me I didn’t know needed healing.
And now I have the most incredible story to tell my babies as I tuck them in each night before their birthday every year.

I cannot tell you how life changing this experience has been for us, and I’d recommend them both in a heartbeat.

Sarah and Jenny have been incredible from the start of my pregnancy to the birth and beyond. Antenatal care was excellent and just a joy. We all looked forward to Sarah’s visits, we really got to know each other and felt I could ask her anything. She became a friend who we trusted and felt relaxed with, and her knowledge and skills are just incredible. I felt so comfortable and at ease around Sarah that I had super quick labour and baby was born in just a few pushes. Unfortunately I had another PPH after the birth, but this was handled amazingly by both Sarah and Jenny, they truly are very skilled and I felt so safe and cared for with them. I really didn’t want to go to hospital but I trusted Sarahs judgement, and she stayed with me the whole time. It was only a brief hospital stay but it was completely different to my last experience, and I can actually look back on it quite fondly now.
I had quite a traumatic feeding journey with my first baby, which Sarah and Jenny really listened to and we made a plan well in advance. Having Jenny, an IBCLC as well as midwife, on the team is honestly amazing. Baby had a tongue tie and Jenny came to release it (at home) on day 1, Sarah then was my cheerleader, support and comfort throughout those early weeks. She understood my breastfeeding goals and because of her and Jenny I’m now breastfeeding my baby and she is thriving, we both are, which just means the world to me.

It’s taken me 4 months to write this review as I’ve been struggling to find the words to do it justice. This might sound dramatic, but choosing My Independent Midwife has been life changing. Do not underestimate the importance of your support and care antenatally, and arguably more importantly, postnatally. Our care has been excellent, and the whole family has felt the benefit. My 3 year old’s favourite game is ‘let’s play Sarah Midwife!!’

Thank you Sarah and Jenny from the bottom of our hearts. But a word of warning - good experiences make you want another one!!!

On the 16th of November, at 7:04am, our miracle baby boy was born.
We will never forget that morning — one of the most special days of our lives.

Although my birth didn’t go as planned, thanks to Jenny’s incredible support and unwavering presence throughout the entire 7–8 day ordeal, it became the best experience it could possibly have been.

I had hoped for a peaceful water birth at home, but after six long days of latent labour, I eventually needed a c-section. What could have been a frightening and disempowering experience, one that might have left me feeling helpless or even traumatised, was completely transformed by having Jenny by my side.

Over the course of my pregnancy, we built a strong and familiar bond, the kind of trust and ease that made her feel more like a close friend than a care provider. Because of that connection, she brought not only calm and clarity, but also comfort and a sense of control during even the most intense moments.

She advocated for me at every turn, like a protective lioness, and helped make sense of often overwhelming or frightening information from the medical team, always breaking it down with compassion and even lightness when I needed it most.

She truly was like a guardian angel, and I couldn’t imagine having gone through it without her by my side, caring for me just as I would want anyone I love to be cared for during such a monumental time.

And her support didn’t end with the birth. Jenny was there for me afterwards too, answering questions, offering reassurance, and simply being there whenever I needed peace of mind. That continuity of care was incredibly comforting, especially in those early, vulnerable days of new motherhood. Knowing I could reach out to someone I trusted made all the difference.

I’m endlessly grateful.

I knew before I was pregnant that I would book with My Independent Midwife if I was blessed with a pregnancy. I love everything that My Independent Midwife stands for - care that is woman-centered, personalised, safe and empowering. I became pregnant towards the end of 2024 and my initial meeting with Jenny and Sarah solidified my feelings about booking with such a wonderful team. Jenny provided such wonderful antenatal care during my pregnancy. Our time together didn't need to be rushed and it felt so personalised and comfortable. I quickly learnt how important continuity of care and building a relationship with your midwife is for a pregnant mother. Unfortunately, my personal journey has been a difficult one as it ended with a loss. The kindness and support I've received from Jenny has been a source of light during such a dark time and I'm so grateful that she has been on this journey with us.

Thankyou to Michaela and Sarah who supported me at my homebirth last week. I had the dreamiest experience lasting around 4 and a half hours with no pain relief, no stitches… the birth of dreams! And it was all down to the special ladies at My Independent Midwife who allowed me to feel empowered and trust my body! I will never be able to express just how grateful I am to you guys! I wish everyone could experience the birth I had!

Sarah and Jenny supported the birth of my first baby at home in May 2023, and when I found out I was pregnant again Sarah was one of the very first people to know. Very sadly we had a genetic condition diagnosed at 26 weeks and decided that we couldn’t continue with the pregnancy. Sarah and Jenny provided invaluable support through the diagnosis and the various appointments that followed, and Sarah helped me prepare for the calmest, most peaceful labour and birth I could achieve under such difficult circumstances. Our daughter Luna was born at 28 weeks with Sarah by my side, making sure I was heard and in control throughout. She honoured our birth and our baby as if she were living and I will be forever grateful for that.

We booked Sarah for this pregnancy hoping for another beautiful home birth and a healthy baby, knowing her support would be invaluable. We didn’t know just how much we would need that support in different circumstances. While we obviously hope that no one else experiences what we have, we also hope prospective clients know that if the worst is to happen, they will be in the very safest of hands.

I feel so lucky to say my birth went even better than we had planned.. exactly what we hoped for but much quicker than expected! With Jenny as our lead midwife I felt empowered to trust my natural instincts. Jenny always created a safe space to discuss anything and everything in detail and allowed us to make truly informed decisions.

The level of support and care we received is unrivaled, I trust Jenny and Sarah completely and I would recommend their service to every single person I know. We are so incredibly grateful that our baby entered the world in such a positive way and is now thriving.

We initially went for the birth only package and then changed to include post birth care too. The breastfeeding support I received was so valuable Im not sure I would have had such a successful feeding journey without Jenny’s help and advice.

People spend money on holidays, cars, weddings etc without even thinking about it.. the day your baby is born is THE most special day of your life and this is the best money we have ever spent.

This is the best decision we could have made for our family, thank you Sarah and Jenny.

I feel delighted about my birth experience. I had all the knowledge and support to make my own decisions and therefore I’ve been left with nothing but happy memories of bringing my baby girl into the world. I could not have done it without Jenny by my side, and know she will be a part of every pregnancy going forward. I would recommend My Independent Midwife to all my pregnant friends and cannot put into words how incredible I found the overall experience. Pregnancy is such a personal journey and having the same care provider throughout meant that Jenny really understood me and Regan as people and what we wanted birth to look like.

Hi Sarah and Jenny. I’ve got a quiet minute and I just wanted to say how incredible you two are. And how grateful we are! We are so lucky to have had you help us bring Angus into the world. I know for certain that without you with us, we would not have had such an incredible experience. We were both extremely nervous but your experience and calmness at all times, even when we were struggling, was just so reassuring to us, me especially as Caroline was a bit preoccupied :) I can’t thank you enough for giving us such a wonderful experience, one which we will cherish forever! I honestly can’t think of how we could have had a more positive birth even with the dramatic bits!

You are two of the most amazing women I’ve ever met and I wish more people knew about what you can offer them. I don’t think I know anyone personally who’s ever had and IM and when we were discussing it as an option we thought “no one we know has ever done it, so why do we need to?” I’m so glad we stuck to our instincts and chose you two, you have changed our lives for the better, forever. We will always have that experience to look back on and pass on our positive birth story to others!

I’d give my independent midwives 10 stars if I could! The best midwives, Sarah and Jenny were my dream team. Sarah was my head midwife, who gave me all the information I needed in relation to breech home birth so I was able to make an informed decision prior to labour. She 100% supported my dream to birth my footling beech baby at home whilst I had my other children present and multiple birth partners. Sarah and Jenny were both incredible throughout my labour and birth, both empowering and encouraging me to achieve the birth of my dreams. Thank you will never be enough for everything you both did for me, I’ve made friends for life and will always treasure the day I gave birth at home to my little breech baby! Xxx

Contacting Sarah and Jenny was the best decision myself and my partner ever made. My pregnancy and birth experience was INCREDIBLE and that is solely down to Sarah and Jenny! It was a calm, measured and truly enjoyable experience and I don't think many people can say that about their pregnancy birth experiences. Sarah was our lead midwife and she was a friend throughout (saying goodbye after my son was born felt like a breakup!). If we were to have another baby we would without a doubt put our faith in Sarah and Jenny again. I cannot recommend these 2 enough.
