Refused to refund after we cancelled an order
We placed an enquiry online for a piece of hire equipment to be delivered. They requested additional ID which meant that it would have been too late for delivery on the day it was required so we decided not to proceed and cancelled the pending order.
We were told that we would only receive our deposit back as their terms and conditions stated that once we had placed an order, we had to pay, despite not receiving the service we paid for.
We had not completed the order as we were informed (by them) the order was not complete until we had verified our ID (which we hadn't) and therefore we should be entitled to a refund as we had received nothing from them.
Despite several emails backwards and forwards they refused to return our money. We contacted paypal and opened a case - at which point a full refund was received within 48 hours.
I would not trust a company that argues to keep customers money without offering a service and I would seriously consider using an alternative company that cared about its customers and the services it offered rather than trying to keep funds for services NOT provided due to small print in their spurious T&Cs
