Charged for internet service that was never usable, and cancellation was unreasonably difficult
I am writing this review to share my genuine experience with Netcrawler.
In July 2025, Netcrawler shipped me a modem and began charging me for internet service. However, the service was never usable. The modem was never successfully connected, and there was no internet access at any point. Despite this, my account was charged monthly from July through December 2025, totaling $360.47 CAD.
When I contacted support, I was told that the service is considered “activated” once the modem is shipped, regardless of whether the internet actually works or is ever used. In my case, there was no connection, no usage, and no benefit from the service.
I then attempted to cancel the service. The cancellation system repeatedly required the last four digits of my credit card. I entered the correct digits exactly as shown on my billing statements, but the system continuously rejected them. After spending over 30 minutes following the instructions, I was still unable to cancel due to what appears to be a system error.
I also asked a clear and reasonable question: how much I would need to pay if I chose not to return the equipment, since returning it requires additional time and effort. This question was not answered. I was only told to return the equipment, without being given any alternative or cost information.
To summarize my experience:
I was charged for an internet service that never worked
Billing continued for months without any usage
Cancellation was blocked by a malfunctioning system
A straightforward question about equipment buyout was ignored
I am posting this review to inform other consumers so they can make an informed decision. I hope Netcrawler improves its billing practices, cancellation process, and transparency with customers.
