Replacement quartz mechanism failed

I bought a replacement quartz mechanism April 2025. Initially great. Shaft was correct length and the New hands fitted perfectly. However after 4 months the clock started “stuttering” and wouldn’t tell the correct time. I changed the battery and it worked again for 20mins and then failed. I contacted NG Clocks to obtain a replacement under warranty. No reply. Contacted twice more over the weeks and heard nothing other than acknowledgments that my “e-mail is important to us” and they say they will be in touch. I’ve given up waiting and have sourced a replacement from KITRONIC where I received great communication and a mechanism in the post at a very good price. I won’t be bothering with NG Clocks in future.

Gave good advice prompt delivery

Gave good advice and sent the correct part promptly.
Very surprised to see some negative reviews here.
Given that the parts are not expensive, I have sympathy with the sellers view "you ordered the wrong part. Own it.".

Avoid like the plague

Avoid like the plague. Take cognisance of the negative reviews. There are plenty of them. Watch out for Matthew. If you order the wrong part, it will be entirely your fault. You'll be arrogantly told to 'own it'. When you get your refund, it will be without the VAT element and no amount of correspondence will result in that part being reimbursed. Look out for older parts being advertised as 'in stock' they won't be and once you've ordered and paid, you'll be offered a cheaper modern alternative (probably one that will not be correct). The older parts still remain on the website as if in stock so this is obviously the modus operandi sales method. If I could be bothered, I'd report to Trading Standards and HMRC (VAT). You have been warned.

Mixed experience of this company . . .

I needed a replacement Kienzle Euroshaft battery clock movement which was advertised as being ‘in stock’ on their comprehensive web site. Ordered and paid for one. Was charged vat and was charged for tracked first class delivery.
After several days and much longer than expected, I received a response saying ‘not in stock’ but suggesting an alternative make which was £10 cheaper.
I accepted the proposed alternative (which in the event was indeed suitable).
After a surprisingly long delay the item was received, but seemingly via second class not first.
The item was dead on arrival and there then followed a series of email exchanges with claims that since ‘it had been tested before dispatch’ it was either not fitted correctly or the battery used was faulty. A series of checks were suggested but these simply confirmed the item was faulty. Reluctantly after my sending pictures they accepted it back for replacement - at my cost!
I paid to return it tracked and then I had to chase them for more than a week to get a response to its return.
Eventually a replacement was sent (again seemingly 2nd class) and received (it took a week to arrive after they said it had been sent) but the replacement worked fine.
The cost difference was refunded but without vat being added to the credit and no refund either for the return cost of the faulty movement. A far from hassle free experience and not sure I would use again.

Ask for help and given bad advice - now out of pocket

I contacted New Generation clocks as I was having a problem finding the correct replacement clock mechanism for my kitchen clock. I ended up in an email convo with someone called Matthew who asked me to send a photo and give measurements - I did as requested. The mechanism I was recommended to buy (which I did) was the wrong one. I complained and was told I had sent the wrong measurement and they recommended a different mechanism for me to buy. I pointed out that I had measured the old mechanism using the example photo they had sent me and I had sent a photo of the original. This evidence was ignored and I have been left with a mechanism that doesn't fit and out of pocket. Unless you know exactly what you need DON'T use this company as the chances are you will be out of pocket too.

awful service

Very disappointed by this company and especially someone called Matthew.
I ordered a spare movement for an Alessi clock. I carefully ordered the same reference as the original. What I received was a movement with a shorter axle. When I informed ngclocks, they replied that indeed they had a movement, same reference, with longer axle, but which was not offered on their website. They kindly offered me to order it, but when I asked for a swap between the one I received and this one, the answer from Matthew has been : "you made a mistake and ordered the incorrect part - take ownership of this"

I needed a new movement for my rare…

I needed a new movement for my rare clock, sent pics. And they were able to send the nearest one to the original movement. Received very quickly. Fitted and works perfectly. Thanks for your great help and knowledge. Pleasure to do business with.

Kienzle movement out of stock, on the website availible

I, a Dutch citizen, ordered a Kienzle clock movement from this company. The total cost, including shipping, is 38,94 pounds. Additionally, my country's customs charges import tax and import administration at the border, along with currency conversion costs from euro to pound. Despite being quite expensive, I don't mind as I am specifically looking for a Kienzle clock movement and cannot find it anywhere else.

Two days after placing the order, I have not yet received a tracking code. Consequently, I emailed to inquire about the tracking code. In response, I received an email stating that they no longer have the Kienzle movement in stock, and it is no longer being produced. However, they offered to send me a UTS movement (cheap and easy to find) instead and refund the price difference.

I find this suggestion unreasonable, as UTS movements are readily available in my own country. It seems unnecessary to go through the trouble and extra costs to purchase it from them. Additionally, I requested them to update their website to clearly indicate that the product is "out of stock," but they have not done so, which further frustrates me.

Ultimately, I have received a full refund, but I still insist that they remove this product from their website.

Very poor service I recently bought a replacement clock…

I recently bought a replacement clock mechanism which is radio controlled, when fitting to the clock face the nut sheared in two, I emailed to say the nut had broken to be told that I must have over tightened it and I could buy a replacement pack of five. They were not willing to consider that the item was faulty. Anyway I bought the replacement pack and fitted the mechanism. I then go through the setup procedure and find that the unit will not set to the correct time, I do this several times but with no success each time ensuring the unit is able to receive a signal by placing it next to another radio controlled clock, eventually I give up and email them to say that the unit doesn’t work and I would like a refund, I get no reply at all and I’m now forced to go through PayPal to try to get my money back.
I would advise anyone considering using this company DON’T. Their customer service is appalling bordering on rude.

Superb service from NG Clocks

I recently contacted NG Clocks after discovering Thos' Kent clocks recommend them for parts.

My wife discovered a Thomas Kent clock in her drawer which no longer worked, and had no hands. As it held sentimental value to her I wanted to get this repaired but had no idea where to start.

Thankfully, NG Clocks guided me through the process, from getting me to check the movement still worked, which it didn't; to measuring the correct part and finally sending links to the parts needed for the clock.

We now have a working clock, and I have a happy wife!

Bought a new clock movement and hands…

Bought a new clock movement and hands from New Generation Clocks 23 Cambridge Road
East Cowes, Isle of Wight last September, and the mechanism was fine for eight months. Then it started randomly losing time or stopping.
This is obviously within the twelve months period of replacement.
I have now contacted NG Clocks THREE times, twice by e-mail and once in the ‘Message Space’ on their website, but still nobody has bothered to reply or get back to me. It’s also not possible to phone.
Rubbish, or should I say No Customer Service.
Avoid this Company to avoid frustration!
