Mr Nicholas Maycock is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in cornea, complex cataract surgery and refractive lens based surgery. With 20 years of experience in ophthalmology, he was appointed as a substantive NHS consultant and clinical lead for cornea at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire where he worked as a clinical personal tutor and undergraduate examiner at Warwick Medical School. More recently he has been working in full time private practice in Hampshire where he lives with his wife and young family. He was awarded a distinction in the Ulster University postgraduate diploma in cataract and refractive surgery (PGDipCRS) and has since been invited to become a course tutor and visiting professor at Ulster University. He has been awarded the Royal College of Ophthalmologists certificate of laser refractive surgery (CertLRS). Mr Maycock is actively involved in research winning an award for recruitment to the multicentre, phase IV PERSPECTIVE Study on dry eyes. He has spent two years working in the pharmaceutical industry where he helped design and set up the global, phase III VISUAL I,II and III studies. Mr Maycock has over 35 publications and co-authored a leading textbook on corneal topography He is passionate about training the next generation of doctors and ophthalmologists. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is a past member of their microsurgical skills training faculty. He is a past committee member of the UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) Young Ophthalmologist Program (YOP).

CATARACT SURGERY
My recent experience of having cataract surgery made me less apprehensive due to Mr Nick Maycock who, after our initial chat put my mind at rest regarding any concerns I had about the procedure. During surgery he kept me informed as to what was happening and confirmed that “all has gone well”. His professionalism and expertise is exemplary and I have no hesitation in recommending him. My sincere thanks to him and his team.

Cataract
This is the second lens replacement. The first was back in September. I was nervous the first time but was put at ease and was less apprehensive this time. The replacement lenses was a success and I was surprised how clear my vision is now. I can highly recommend the service I received.

Cataract Surgery Procedure
Thanks for making the procedure of cataract surgery as easy as possibly could be for me.
Plenty of caring staff to welcome, comfort and prepare. Opportunity to ask questions and express any concerns at all stages.
Felt informed and calm during surgery. I was told what to expect as surgery progressed. No surprises so much easier to deal with.
