We went on a days foraging course on the Wirral peninsula our guide James he was absolutely brilliant. He totally opened our eyes to what we have around us enjoyed it so much trying to book and do it again.

My partner and I booked a walking sightseeing tour in Budapest. Amazing experience with wonderful and knowledgeable hosts, and Claire, our contact person at NTGB went out of her way to provide us with information we needed.

I went on a day foraging course in Sussex which was very enjoyable and informative. Our guide was very well informed and knowledgeable, pointing out many interesting things along the way. The weather couldn't have been better, so all in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We were keen to have a family trip of a lifetime before our eldest left home and had flight vouchers to use. We had an amazing time exploring the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. This trip ticked all the boxes- no long journeys - we had amazing local knowledgable private transfers( by minibus or boat! ) and the support of a local guide when we decided last minute to alter a trip and go zip lining! It was brilliant to be off the beaten trail and we saw amazing scenery and wildlife and of course the famous Quetzel bird in the beautiful cloud forest. All of the destinations were great and we really enjoyed the trips - the fishing with hand held lines and then eating the catch of the day was great and the cookery course was really enjoyable.
I would thoroughly recommend this as a memorable family trip.

Not in the Guidebooks has given us one of the best holidays ever! I have had a painting holiday in the South of France on my bucket list for ages & this certainly delivered. La Salle near Toulouse made the perfect setting and the owners, Gill and Terry, couldn't do enough for us. Their house was lovely, comfortable and had a studio in the garden for the painting - perfect. They picked us up from the airport, took us on all the excursions which were all really interesting, inspiring and beautiful and fed us until we could eat no more! The artist in residence for the week, Jo Perkins, was an inspiring, supportive and excellent teacher, whatever your experience levels.
The group gelled really quickly and we all left saying how much we would all love to do it again!

Just returned from a Cooking and Wine tasting holiday in Tuscany.
Due to Covid and cancelled flights changed the dates from last year. Not a problem for Not In The Guidebooks.
Went as a solo traveller. Host Rita was waiting for me at Pisa airport and my reception was warm and friendly.
Stayed at Rita’s home La Mezzaluna along with six other guests. It’s a bit rural, rustic and traditional but Rita in between cooking lessons took us out and about visiting Pisa, Lucca, Barga and a winery.
Nothing was to much trouble and she accommodated everyone’s request in the lessons, we even had a Karaoke night which everyone enjoyed.
Brilliant holiday for me as a solo traveller met some lovely people and would certainly do this again.

I cannot recommend this company enough. Due to no fault of their own one of my trips was cancelled....a double booking at the other end, Carole, Lee and Debbie went above and beyond to ensure we had somewhere to stay, a trip that undoubtably cost considerably more on their part! This is my second booking with NITGB, the team are always highly responsive, helpful and passionate about what they do! Their selection of amazing trips is extensive and there is something to suit everyone. I am very pro sustainability and these guys take this seriously too! This is the future and I will continue to book time and again with this company.

We were recommended to look Not In the Guidebook up via family as we knew they offered a wide variety of authentic, hand selected, curated, experiences offered by local experts. Having made contact with a partner in the Buisness and also the local ambassador for Cape Town, they selected the perfect wine trip we were looking for: Private Wine Tour of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.

This wine tour was a fun filled day and we learned so much about South African wines, how it’s made and most importantly how good it tastes. We visited five different (award winning) vineyards and enjoyed a fabulous day of wine tasting and discoveries in the beautiful Stellenbosch countryside.

We were collected at our apartment in Cape town at 0830AM and whisked away to the beautiful Stellenbosch. We started with champagne tasting (and did a sabre!) and a delicious cheese platter. The day included visiting 5 vineyards for a tasting, a 3-course excellent lunch, and enjoyed the most stunning views of the mountains and vineyards. We were being chauffeured from vineyard to vineyard in a very comfortable car. Our tour guide Cedric was amazing, very knowledgeable about each wineries' product and the history of the vineyard and surrounding area. We also got to choose to what vineyard we wanted to go in the afternoon… plenty of choice because there are more than 180 vineyards in the area.

The whole tour with the wine experience was excellent and we both really enjoyed it. The value was for the price was excellent. Really recommend this tour!

This trip was amazing. My friend and I really wanted to experience parts of Vietnam which weren’t the classic travelling destinations and tourist traps, and this did not disappoint. Your friendly guide drives you quite far north, but gives you the chance to have regular stops and experience some authentic food on the way. Both home-stays are great, with friendly hosts and very luxury accommodation, especially considering that they are in the middle of nowhere. The waterfall is incredible and Ba Be lake is beautiful! The homestay looks directly out over the lake and gives you the must stunning view. This is all rounded off by your guides and hosts who always make you feel comfortable and welcome. If you want to experience a ‘local’ trip and see some stunning parts of northern Vietnam which not many travellers have seen, then this is perfect for you.

It is extremely easy to book and the driver picks you up from your hostel and drops you back to wherever you need to go in Hanoi.

We had a wonderful gin tour of London in a Mini Cooper with a fantastic guide. I’d highly recommend this experience.

I just LOVE the ethos of this company. Responsible, immersive, sustainable tourism - it's the way forward.
