So i joined on line after being referred by colleague. Initial call from agency after i told them my experiences i was informed that they cannot offer agency job for me.There was no question into my ward experiences or if i currently do overtime at ward level.Just shut down!!!

Cancelling shifts
I am not happy with my recent experience with Scottish Nursing Guild last 09/10/2024. They have been cancelling many shifts. If I could count it, it is like 10 times that they have been doing this.
For them, it is very easy to inform you about cancelled shifts. However, they will notify you immediately or they will sent you a pull out policy reminder because of your records that shows you had come out of 3 shifts. After all, that's not fair for your workers.

A very professional and supportive organisation. A meticulous screening process, but this enables them to recruit the very best professionals.
I completed my first shift this week and although it took a while to get this shift it was worth the wait.
It is so refreshing to be working for an organisation that is so passionate at providing person centred care, and who also respects their employees contribution.
Thank you Scottish Nursing Guild for reigniting my faith in our health care provision to people when they are at their most vulnerable state.

Recruiting staff are rude
Recruiting staff are rude. Wasted a full day for Karen to do a screening 10-15 mins screaning call and 2 and half hours later got hold of her said the fault is with previous girl. And she is happy to close my application file if I can’t wait. Sad that a popular agency like this has the worst first point of contact staff.
Have a good communication with staff…
Have a good communication with staff and they do they level best. SNG is the best company or Agency that goes any extra mile to meet the expectation of their employees i will recommend.
Excellent company to work with
Looks after their nurses really well, not to mention the great rates. Very helpful and understanding deskteam too.

Scottish nursing guild are a great agency to work for. The team are so nice and make booking shifts so easy. The flexible hours and great pay rates are really enticing and make work/life balance so much easier! 10/10 would recommend
I applied to the Guild last year as…
I applied to the Guild last year as they were actively recruiting band 3 staff. Unfortunately there was a problem with communication, call handlers giving conflicting information, ultimately (having submitted all requisite documentation electronically), I was told to present at their office with a paper bank statement which I couldn't get. Now the Guild are repeatedly sending generic emails inviting me to re-apply. I gave up on them months ago & have been informed that yet again my charge nurse would have to submit a further reference as the last application is now invalid. NHS don't seem to be using Guild anymore, also I've been told that they're not particularly bothered about recruiting band 3s even though they actively advertised. Retrospectively the SNG have now emailed to say my above experience will be taken offline if I do not give them my telephone number etc again. Clearly they have my contact details. The entire experience has been distressing and negative.

I applied for SNG
I applied for SNG. The hoops you have to jump through to be taken on. Sending everything online only to be told it all had to be sent via post even when they already had all the info. Being told I could start until I had my MmR injections because I wasn’t immune. I was born before 1970 so did not require them back then. Everything I did I was told to do more. My go to agent Matthew at Dundee Street office was absolutely hopeless not giving me any help and to be honest I think it was my age but obviously they couldn’t say that I’m 55 but with a wealth of experience of years working in the hospital wards. I could have brought so much to the company their loss!! ..17 months!! It all took only to be told they wanted more info. I have worked with SNG agency and no disrespect but some can hardly speak English. I would of give them 0 stars but it didn’t give me the option to do that
There are positive and negative…
I had both positive and negative experience working with SNG. I was recognised as nurse of the month and I won raffles in the past. Some of the agents are very helpful looking for shifts for me and some are hesitant. In general patients and hospitals liked me wherever I go. I really enjoyed it. The payrate is higher than other agencies but the work is limited as they are the last agency to be called by the hospital because the hospital admin know they are expensive. There are no holiday pay as it is already included in the regular pay. Sometimes shifts are cancelled on the day or a day before which was understandable. They also have bonuses by events. One event a colleague had only 10 shifts and got 1k bonus while me had 20+ shifts didn’t get a bonus for the grab a grand. I asked the admin and they said it is the rule and it is different for every nurse.
In terms of nurse support about issues I am not quite happy. I had an issue and the nurse call center agent which I will not name had to stop me from working with immediate effect without giving me any early notice. All my future schedule were cancelled there and then. I wasn’t able to prepare for it and SNG was my only job that time. That was the main reason why the agent told me they are cancelling my shift. The performance issues were resolved with INMO with me. I have explained that it was very busy and I was new in the area and it was mot my speciaization and i was asked to help. I learned the importance of documentation and assertive communication that if i can’t do it i will ask help and let the nurse in charge. I will not go into details anymore. The way it was handled was really bad. I have worked full time and hard with them but I was treated like that. I did not work for 6-7 weeks because of availability of the meeting and my 1 week holidays. It was traumatic on top of finishing my MBA. No options given on what to do while no work.
Overall, i rate SNG 3-4 because there are good points and also bad experience I had with them. Thank you.

The person on the phone finally listened to me and tried to sort my problem. He understood my situation and when he said he would sort it , he did. That impressed me.

My experience with Scottish on my first shift
My experience with Scottish is great. Every shift you are booked, communication between the organisation and client is great, this makes it more organised when you arrive the client is aware and everything goes smoothly.
Regain my passion
Before starting with SNG I was going to quit Nursing and find a completely different job as I was burnt out, I decided to give it a go and thanks to SNG I recovered my passion again.
It is amazing to work with the Guild
It is amazing to work with the Guild. The freedom that you get from the flexible shifts makes your life much easier. The staff is wonderful and they are at your disposal at all time. Also a very important aspect is the high rates that guild provides makes me feel appreciated for the hard work we all do as nurses. I am very thankful to the Guild and its staff members
