One unfinished coding task burned 20% of my monthly quota

OpenCode Go: extremely poor usable coding capacity

I subscribed to OpenCode Go because it is advertised as a low-cost $10/month subscription providing reliable access to popular open coding models.

My practical experience was very different. I gave GLM 5.3 one relatively small implementation plan. The model did not even finish that single task before my 5-hour Go limit was exhausted.

OpenCode's own usage page then showed that this one incomplete task had consumed:

101.3% of my 5-hour allowance, 40.5% of my weekly allowance, and 20.3% of my monthly allowance.

Switching to a cheaper model did not help because the usage limits are shared.

For comparison, I regularly use Codex and Claude for software development and can complete multiple tasks of comparable size per day, as well as much larger implementations, without anything resembling this level of quota consumption.

The $10 headline price therefore gives a misleading impression of value. What matters for a coding subscription is how much engineering work it can actually complete. By that measure, OpenCode Go was extraordinarily expensive: roughly one fifth of the monthly allowance disappeared on one modest task that wasn't even completed.

The published estimated request counts also did not prepare me for this. Agentic coding can apparently turn one user task into enough internal model usage to burn through the quota remarkably quickly.

I cancelled the subscription after this experience.

I seems like a good concept

I seems like a good concept, until you see how fast your tokens can disappear on just a mid tier model. i tried the Go Subscription, and after 30 min usage i already reach my 50% monthly usage. for that i can easy find better alternatives, I can not recommend this subscription model they use

Fast and helpful customer support

I contacted OpenCode support after an unintended automatic renewal of my OpenCode Go subscription. They responded professionally, processed a full refund, and cancelled the subscription to prevent future charges. The process was clear and the issue was resolved quickly. I really appreciate their helpful customer service.

Opencode.ai burns my usage credits, no response

They "charged" me but did not provide the tokens.

Opencode.ai burns my usage credits without responding to my email requesting that they fix it.

Specifically, I used a $5 credit referral bonus when my usage was reaching it's limit and I saw on the website that my 5 hour usage went down from 100% to around %54.

I restarted my chat session and it did not respond, I refreshed my Opencode.ai usage and it said 100% again, in less that 1 minute, and the usage chart showed 0 usage at all. And my $5 referral credit shows as being used still.

I've being using OpenCode for an while

I've being using OpenCode for an while, and it's become part of my daily development workflow. It's fast and gives me the flexibility to use different models depending on the task. hence there are still few areas that could be improved more.

It's worth it, but not perfect.

There's a review here that was mad that they didn't get a subscription, here's clarification:
Opencode Zen -> Pay as you go, no subsidy, more like openrouter instead of a subscription, not worth it IMO
Opencode Go -> 6x subsidized subscription, use one of a small selection of decent Chinese models

I've been a Go customer for a full month now, and I'm pretty happy. You don't get infinite credit, but you do get a lot; I'd advise that you stick to the cheaper models if you use AI en masse like I do. If you want the better models... you'll need more subscriptions. Oh, and the terminal is OK, I switched off of it and used the API instead after a week.

TLDR: Opencode Zen is OK, Opencode Go is worth it, the Opencode Terminal is also mid.

don't waste your money

I was misled into buying an useless plan that was supposed to be a monthly plan but it only gives me useless credit. Tried to get a refund since I didn't use any of the credits but no reply. Scam company. They steal your money and run with it. Their subscription garbage is useless, if you want API credits just subscribe directly to the model instead of getting ripped off by this scam company who don't even answer emails
