Superb selection of authentic Scottish literature, excellent advice and recommendations from Lee, great communication and service.
The books were well packaged and arrived super quickly. The free postage when spending £25 is a bonus too.

This is the best Scottish independent book shop, there’s a great selection of books, I love the blind date with a book it’s like buying myself a gift and they are wrapped beautifully with lots of nice freebies, the owner Lee is a lovely person and you always get a lovely personal note card which means a lot, the orders are always very quick and sent with love & care.

I discovered paper thistle books earlier this year after my friends highly recommended them . The service you receive from them is absolutely fantastic , nothing is too much , it’s a truly personal service , you are not just anyone . You receive personalised notes in your packages and an out of the blue book package was sent to my partner because he had been unwell and as a fellow Scot he loved it . Highly recommended .

What a beautiful company this is, customer service is the best I have had from anywhere I have ever shopped. their blind date with a book packages are stunning. And they have books I have never even heard of before. Highly recommend.

This is hands down one of the best independent bookshops I’ve come across. The personal touch they bring to everything they do makes such a difference. You never feel like just another order, there’s real care behind it, and it shows.

They’re also incredibly active on TikTok, which I love. It’s not just promotional content either, they genuinely engage with the book community, join in conversations, and make you feel part of something. It’s such a refreshing change from bigger retailers.

The regular book recommendations are always spot on, and I’ve discovered so many new reads through them that I wouldn’t have picked up otherwise. The website is just as fun to browse too, especially with the random book generator when you can’t decide, and the “blind date with a book” option is such a brilliant idea. It feels like opening a gift, and the thoughtful little bookish treats included make it even more special.

Their selection is fantastic, especially if you love Scottish authors or books set in Scotland. It’s clear they’ve curated their stock with real passion and intention.
