The Period Time Publishing Academe was founded in October 2020, however, our story began long before that. In the winter of 2012, over a decade ago, PTP founder Dan Pye was heading up a fast-growing young family. Money was tight, life was not easy, so Dan knew he had to think outside the box. This business is what you are here to learn about. As with all things Dan’s group of companies do, PTP is in line with PyeroMedia’s motto, which is “All in or not at all”. They also have multiple names which is a huge red flag: Publishing Academe, Archived Press, Archived Academe, Period Time Publishing...you'll get emails from all of them.

Worst company I've dealt with in years
Worst company I've dealt with in years. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.
I did read and sign the agreement about having to stay on for 90 days to give the program a try: fair enough.
After that, though, trying to cancel the subscription is an absolute nightmare. You have to send an email to them within a very precise window of time (a 5-day period before your next billing date).
I thought I had contacted them in the prescribed window of time, but alas, I was off by a few days -- so yes, I was billed for another month. My "mistake," but really? What kind of customer service is this?
I have asked repeatedly what I need to say, specifically, in the cancellation email. No specific reply except to read their documentation, which I have done several times already -- and it is not clear.
The course itself takes place in a Discord space that is impossible to navigate (I've been teaching online since 1999, so I know what I'm talking about).
This has been the worst membership/course I have EVER been in, in every single respect. I wish I hadn't wasted what is now $180 on this company. It's a joke.

1. Our 90-Day Minimum Term
You rightly mentioned that you agreed to a 90-day minimum term when you enrolled. This isn’t unusual in education, in fact, most programs offering what we provide charge $2,000 or more upfront. We deliberately keep our pricing at just $45/month, because we want ordinary people, not just those with deep pockets, to access the exact same high-level publishing systems. Our mission has always been to champion the “little guy” and make this industry accessible.
2. Cancellation Window
Our signed Terms require cancellation notices to be submitted in the 5-day window before the next billing date. This protects fairness across all members.
In your case, your request fell outside that window, which technically meant one further payment was due. Instead of enforcing that, we chose to waive the final payment and cancel your subscription early so you could move on happily. We did this in good faith, even though the policy was clear.
3. Customer Service
It’s important for readers to know that your messages were met with prompt, polite replies every time. Our admin assistant gave you the exact cancellation dates in plain language, and direct links to the specific clause in the policy you where enquiring about and when you asked for more help, I (the founder) personally recorded a step-by-step video to walk you through the process.
When your membership was closed, your final words to us were:
“Thank you for letting me know that this subscription has been cancelled. I appreciate the update.”
That is why I was surprised to later see your public comments describing us as the “worst company” you’ve dealt with.
4. The Learning Environment
We know Discord is new for some, but it allows us to combine daily coaching, AI tools, resources, and a student community in one place. Hundreds of students navigate it successfully, and for anyone struggling, we provide onboarding guidance and support.
5. Value for Money
You mention “wasting $180.” For clarity, you paid the exact minimum term you contractually agreed to ($45/month for three months) which is $135 not $180. You had uninterrupted access to:
• Daily one-on-one coaching (bar weekends)
• 24/7 AI Coach technology
• Our publishing templates and systems
• Full course and community resources
• And much more
All at a fraction of the industry norm. There were no extra charges, and ultimately, we even absorbed the final month’s fee on your behalf.

This takes patience and perseverance
This takes patience and perseverance, however, well worth the investment. Sales will not happen overnight but the more books you produce the greater the financial gain. If you are looking for an overnight sensation then this will not be for you. It takes a while to get the hang of how this process works, but the detailed video course has all the info you need, coupled with the Discord assistance from coaches. If you remain consistent at producing you will succeed. Have been doing this for about 7 months and have no regrets ...thanks Dan.

I first reviewed PTP about a year or so…
I first reviewed PTP about a year or so ago and was extremely happy with both the course and the coaches. I have read some negative posts and decided to respond as a current student of the course. Yes, terms have changed for current students- lifetime access to the course is still there for those that want it but access to the coaches is by monthly subscription which for me is fair because they are on hand every day but Sunday. No broken promises there so I am happy. PTP has opened up a new source of income for me and it is by no means easy but nothing worthwhile ever is. So in summary, thanks to Dan, Mel and the rest of the PTP community...I don’t regret signing up for a single minute.

Dude stole all our money then whined about it.
Notice all the good reviews are before April 2024.
I was one of the first people to give this a 5-star review. A few years down the road, I'm changing it to 1. The program can work, yes. That's what the stars are for. But my confidence in Dan tanked hard. All the way down to disgusted negative numbers, and 1.5 is what's left. Since the trust factor is shredded, I rounded down. I paid the $2000, then suddenly, I got an email giving this long sob story of how he was losing money and his partners didn't want him to keep his program open, blah blah, blah.
The upshot? Despite already paying the 2k for lifetime access and updates, It was now going to be a monthly subscription, and we were referred to NEW terms of service (not the old one where updates were included) and claimed it had always been like this, except i'm that pain in the ass person who actually reads the terms. Along with his crocodile tears, he claimed that he wasn't going to open up to any new members, just deal with who he had because he didn't want to leave us hanging. Obviously, that's not true. He's still scraping for students, and it was just a big song and dance that ultimately let us know that he's a highly strung 'viking wannabe' who spouts 'self-improvement' about how much you suck and your failure is your fault, without him looking into the mirror himself. None of us were treated fairly, and you won't be either. Hard pass this con artist.

It is sad to see your review written this way, as it doesn’t reflect either the reality of what was delivered to you or the way we’ve always treated our students. For the benefit of those reading, we’d like to set the record straight.
1. The Original $2,000 Program (Was $1500 not $2000)
When you enrolled, the agreement was very clear:
• Lifetime access to the course content, and
• 90 days (3 months) of live coaching.
Every single student, including you, received this in full. In fact, the vast majority, were given well over 12 months of coaching, far beyond the contractual three months. That was extra value, not an obligation.
To this day, the original course website remains live, yes, we still maintain it years later because we take our obligations seriously. Every student from that era, including you, still has their original login and can access the entire program, unaltered. Nobody has ever been locked out or “had their money stolen.”
2. The Transition to a Membership Model
The truth is simple: the high-ticket model was not financially sustainable. We had two choices, shut down the company (and end all support), or restructure into a $45/month membership that could keep the doors open and allow us to continue serving students.
We chose the second option because we care about our students’ long-term success. Importantly:
• Every high-ticket student, including you, had already received the full 3 months of coaching promised in your contract.
• The optional $45/month membership was a new pathway to continue receiving live daily coaching beyond what was originally purchased.
Over 100 students from your same cohort chose to join the membership without complaint. Many of them are still with us years later, thriving.
3. On Claims of “Changing the Terms”
At no point were past students retroactively stripped of access or denied what they had paid for. The course itself and the agreed coaching period were delivered, and in most cases, overdelivered.
The only change was that ongoing coaching beyond the original 90 days was moved to the membership format. This was clearly communicated and entirely optional.
4. On Our Integrity
It is true that in the early transition period, we initially closed our doors to new students. Later, as some members stopped paying or moved on, we had to open again to keep the business viable. We are a for-profit company, not a charity, and we make no apology for operating ethically to sustain our ability to serve people.
That said, “con artist” is an accusation we take seriously, and it’s simply false. The record shows we honored our contracts, gave more than was promised, and built a low-cost model so ordinary people could continue accessing education that other providers charge $2,000–$5,000 upfront for.
Closing Note
We respect that our program wasn’t the right fit for you, but to suggest that anyone was “robbed” is not accurate. Students got exactly what was promised, in most cases, far more. Our decision to evolve the business model is the reason we’re still here today, continuing to support everyday people who want to build publishing businesses without mortgaging their futures.

I wanted something I could steadily work at and get results.. I have sold some books now! I am so happy! It is about building a business with passive income that keeps on giving..It works! Good Content but Organized in a Confusing Way
PTP has a lot of good content but the organization of the course makes it difficult to determine how this lesson fits in with the others. For example, The course has 5 modules. Module 1 is a big pep talk, which is fine if you're not already in the entrepreneur mindset. Module 2 was super straight forward and actionable. Module 3? I think 2 out of 4 videos were useful. Module 4, meta data is where it begins to fall apart. There is no video explaining how all of the tools fit together, or if there is, they use a new document in the video, explain things one way, but then there's 2 footnotes saying "actually we do it this way now". Then you open the template and theres a link with a video that shows ANOTHER way to do X. For me, I think the course could be better organized to make it less confusing.

Dan here, I appreciate your feedback and you are 100% absolutely correct about the update structure, this is something we have also battled with over time.
See most courses are way outdated, they do not update their programs as the market shifts and there is a reason for this, it is a HUGE undertaking to cut, write, film, and edit snippets of content in an already established program as markets consistently shift and change form, it is really like chasing your tail.
So we were left with a conundrum, either never update our program even know we know the updates will benefit students or update it and potentially cause confusion, we decided that updating was the best option as our students deserve to have the most relevant up to date info at their disposal and we also know that because we have a live daily coaching server and you can contact us 1-1 anytime day or night that if any student was confused we could quickly address it and get them back on track, we also have detailed FAQ’s in the server that explain in detail what the updates mean and how to approach them.
So, I just wanted to explain that to you as we value you as a client and we want you to be happy and successful.
In saying that it is not an excuse, we understand the problem, it is not lost on us, and are currently in the process of taking all our education content to a new platform where it will be better sorted, restructured and presented in such a way that will make it much easier for us to delete smaller videos and refilm new official content should there be further shifts in the market.

Is this PTP (4.2 Stars) or KDP (1.6…
Is this PTP (4.2 Stars) or KDP (1.6 Stars and pretty much a scam)? Mixed reviews have listed as KDP. The reviews in the webinar online mentions KDP as well. It looks like a scam that is just changing names and tactics slightly. KDP apparently promised to help edit and publish books on Amazon, and PTP promises to teach you how to convert Public Domain Books to publish on Amazon. Do either do what they claim? Doubtful. The sales pitch is so 101 scam it's enjoyably funny. Obviously at $2200 (for KDP) and $1997 (one time payment reduced to $1497) he's making more money on this than selling books. IF one is to believe the webinar "thirty slots full already, don't delay!" he's making $45,000 (or more) twice a day. He also has to talk to 60+ new people every day. So how much time do you think you'll get from "his team" (which appears to be him and his wife?)? Seriously, look into it better. The classic hard sale at the end pretty much shows that it's a money grab/ MAKE IT WORK! BUY IT ON CREDIT! um. no thanks.

1. On “Essential Software”
There is no special or “essential” software required for our publishing program beyond Microsoft Word, which most computers already have pre-installed. We’ve never required students to download additional apps or tools to take part. If you were trying to access the course from a smartphone, that would explain some of the difficulty, as we clearly recommend using a computer for publishing work.
2. On Email Support
You mentioned “14 emails bounced.” We’ve carefully reviewed the correspondence: every email you sent to us was answered promptly, often on the same day. When you had trouble accessing a link from your phone, our support team re-sent the file directly as an attached PDF within hours. At no point were your messages ignored; we consistently responded, but it seems the steps we provided weren’t followed through to completion.
3. On Our 24-Hour Response Guarantee
We do guarantee that coaching questions asked in our Discord server receive a response within 12–24 hours. After reviewing your accounts, we could not find any record of you ever posting a question there. Without asking in the correct place, it would not have been possible for our coaches to step in and help as quickly as we promise.
4. On Refund Requests
Refunds must be handled through our legal email, as explained to you several times. This process protects both our students and our company by ensuring all requests are documented and fairly assessed against the agreed policy. You were sent the policy, and when you couldn’t access the link from your phone, the file was emailed to you directly. Our legal team have confirmed they never received your completed request , which is why no refund has yet been actioned.

I will write a review that I wish I had…
I will write a review that I wish I had read before making my decision. This isn’t a scam company or any such thing but I think that people need to make their decision with their eyes wide open. This is complicated and there is so much content to go through. There is a very timely and helpful coach on the Discord channel but people are facing technical challenges on a daily basis and Amazon can - and do - shut people down in the blink of an eye so you have to hope they will see reason and re-instate you or you may end up starting again. It’s a very frustrating journey as I see it. I asked for a refund outside of the time allowed due to genuine extreme circumstances but they have a zero wiggle room policy. In my circumstances I found this to be embarrassing as I had to share something very difficult and offered evidence but as per policy they run a business at the end of the day so no is no. Just be 100% sure this is what you want. 2 stars are for the organisation of videos/content and timely replies to queries. It’s going to take a lot of time and energy to get a return which is what they warn. I have yet to see people in the Discord group super happy making lots of money and I’ve been on it for 6 months. Thank you for taking the time to share your honest review, you’ve raised some fair points and I want to address them with full transparency, because that’s how we’ve always run things.
First, I completely agree with you: building a publishing business is not easy. It takes time, energy, and persistence. We’ve never told people otherwise, in fact, if you look at our training and YouTube content, you’ll see we openly warn that this is a business that requires consistency and grit. That’s exactly why we provide a coach inside our Discord who ensures no student is stuck on a problem for more than 12 hours. The technical hurdles you mention are real, but they are also temporary. Once mastered, most students can format manuscripts and publish with ease, and many go on to thrive.
You also mentioned Amazon suspensions. You’re right that accounts can be csuspended suddenly, but it’s important to understand this only happens when policies are broken. We train heavily on intellectual property compliance, and in the rare cases where students do face suspensions, we’ve been able to help the vast majority get reinstated. But as you said, it’s a business, and it must be approached seriously.
Regarding refunds, I’m truly sorry to hear about your personal circumstances. We do have a clear refund policy, managed independently by our legal team, and while it sometimes feels strict, it’s there to keep things fair and sustainable for all. I completely understand how frustrating that can be, and I don’t take your experience lightly.

Can fully understand that you have to pay for such information but a little to expensive for my pocket.
Also watched till the end and their was no free books at the end!

I have been with the program for over 6 months. Dan and the team are fantastic. For my own personal reasons, I have not been able to focus a lot of my time on it, but very soon I will be back with it and ready to go. The program and training for me were great, and I look forward to working hard with this team for a long time!

All has been great so far...
I recently got the Period Time Publishing course and I couldn't be happier with the experience so far. The course is well-structured and provides a comprehensive overview of how to learn the business of publishing using a variety of support materials and websites/apps. Dan and Melanie are both knowledgeable and engaging, and their passion for the subject matter is contagious. I appreciate the hands-on approach and guidance of the course, which has allowed me to apply the concepts I learned to real-life scenarios and to take it at my own pace. The course material is up-to-date and relevant, and I feel like I'm learning a lot. Great Course! Wonderful Coaches! Inspiring Community!
I retired a year ago and spent a lot of time researching programs to make some supplemental income from home. I saw this program on Facebook early on, watched the free training and then spent many, many more hours watching other programs but kept coming back to this one. It was one of the few that didn't promise instant riches, but rather it was an opportunity.to earn passive income based on the time and effort I put into building my business. I can grow it as slow or as fast as I want - It's all up to me. I searched the reviews and felt comfortable that this was the real deal. The training is top notch - it starts with the mindset which you need to be successful and then step-by-step instructions on how to publish. The 24/7 support from the coaches is invaluable. These coaches are there every day (except Sunday) answering questions, encouraging their students and giving updates as they come in. They have created a community where we can share our questions and our celebrations with each other. They genuinely care about our success. Thank you Dan, Melanie and Mel!

A fine course with first class coaching and support.
I have learnt so much since I’ve enrolled in Period Time Publishing, gaining new skills not only in the art and science of public domain publishing but also the mindset and healthy business habits required to be successful in this industry. I’ve also gained the added bonus of improving my knowledge of classic literature that has been produced over the centuries. This business is fun, interesting and one that I hope will provide a passive income in my retirement years.
The course is laid out in an easy to follow step by step educational videos and PDF download transcripts. Part of this course is an excellent interactive learning environment that consists of hand held coaching where your first three books you publish are assessed by a qualified coach to ensure you are on the right track for successful public domain publishing. The course creator Dan and the coach Melanie walk the talk in public domain publishing and provide a first class live contact support service, being on hand when you hit roadblocks, obstacles, and challenges along the way. There is a great community of fellow students in the Discord service and Facebook group who provide encouragement and inspiration by posting their publishing successes.
After the initial investment there is no further expense to publish public domain books with no ghost-writer fees, graphic design costs or expensive risky ad campaigns to fork out for.
Please note that this is not get rich quick, it will take work, dedication and persistence on a continual basis. However I believe that if you follow the course to the letter there is no reason why within a few years one can’t be the owner of a successful public domain publishing business that brings in a healthy passive income for years to come.

A fantastic online course for anyone who is looking to start a business that is their own from home.
I went into this course not knowing much at all. I wanted to try something new, expand my knowledge and do something that I could do in my own time and make my own.
I have learnt a tremendous amount and continue to learn and have enjoyed every bit of it. It is truly rewarding to learn how to create something the right way and watch your business grow.
This course is easy to follow and the coaching and support you receive is second to none.

Great course with great instuctors
I started this course almost one month ago, and the amount that I have learned is incredible! The lessons are simple enough for almost anyone to understand, but you also learn some wonderful skills. The course starts off by teaching you great life skills and great work habits. There is always someone around to answer all of our students' questions and guide us on to success. I am looking forward to a decent passive income and a better future. I would highly recommend this program!
