⚠️ WARNING – AVOID THIS DEALER
Purchased a car from Daniel Stones trading as PGS Trade Cars (also known as FSG/FGS Trade Cars, previously Elite Automotive (NW) Ltd).
A deposit was left after a test drive, followed by an MOT on 10th November showing no advisories. The car was collected on 14th November and was bought as a present for my son’s 18th birthday after recently passing his driving test.
On 25th November, the car was inspected by a qualified garage owner (family) and found to have serious and dangerous faults, including:
•Excessively worn & cracking wet belt
•Perished wishbone & suspension bushes
•Snapped exhaust clamp
•Bald tyre
•No oil in the engine
•Contaminated coolant
•Blown head gasket
Repair costs far exceed the value of the car. These issues should at least have appeared as MOT advisories, if not resulted in failure.
The car was returned on 26th November. We formally rejected the vehicle, and the dealer agreed to a full refund, but repeatedly failed to return the money, missed agreed collection dates, and then stopped responding entirely. My son was left without a car or refund on his 18th birthday, having also missed work due to agreed collection arrangements that did not happen.
After this, we became aware of a report in the Leigh Guardian stating that this individual had previously been convicted of motor trade–related fraud and received a suspended sentence earlier this year. This information was discovered after our purchase.
We have involved Trading Standards, issued a Letter Before Action, reported the MOT garage to the DVSA, and now logged the matter with the police.
We are still left with an undriveable car and no refund.
Based on our experience and the information now publicly available, I strongly advise anyone to avoid this dealer at all costs.
