The only thing they are good at is ripping people off.
The overcharged me for hours worked. They will not return calls or emails, if you have a problem with them. Showed up late to the job and left early and then overbilled hours worked. Would have been nice if boat ran well after they were done.

I'm Asking Poseidon To Make Things Right With My Horrible Repair

After spending thousands of dollars with Poseidon over a 45-day period, my 1978 YSB 12 still won’t start. I won’t be calling your team to get it going as apparently there is no such thing as a “warranty repair” when the first repair by your tech doesn’t go well. So, while I haven’t yet posted anything on Google, I am considering posting all of what occurred, including my Poseidon Invoice Copies, Invoice Dates and amounts of repairs and replacement parts…still with no positive result. I’m not blaming Poseidon; I just don’t believe your team knows this diesel motor type or how to repair it without additional research or instruction efforts by your Service Team. When I’ve called for an additional service appointment, after an expensive repair, the last two times, rather than the tech fixing what he did or didn’t do during the prior repair, I’m told… “It wasn’t related to the last repair and it’s now something else.” So, because I’m a trusting person who is at the mercy of those who should know more about these things, I agree to pay thousands for another original Yanmar part plus installation…and it still doesn’t work and I get another $1,300 invoice. So, what I’m asking for is your recommendation on another Mobile Boat Mechanic that I can call to finally get this very simple, uncomplicated, one-cylinder diesel motor running like it did for years before Poseidon was involved. Oh, and you’re going to love this one…I discovered what appeared to be a random, unauthorized (to my knowledge) $29.00 for something called “Poseidon Plus” was charged to the AMEX Card you have on file for my account. I asked for an explanation several weeks ago but still haven’t received any response. I was fortunately able to stop the charge with AMEX, as they flagged it as “fraudulent” and have blocked your company for any future charges.

As I’m writing this, I would agree not to post my positive/negative experience on Google, if you’ll agree to send out the tech “ONE MORE TIME” but only after he reads up on how to repair a 1978 YSB 12 Yanmar Deisel Boat Motor and gets it running at no additional charge to me. If you feel this request is unfair and you refuse, I totally understand. But as a result, I’ll tell everyone one I know about my Sailboat Repair Tragedy. The Customer Service Response and Recovery is now in your hands.

With Sincere Appreciation.

Poseidon Marine led me to believe their…

Poseidon Marine led me to believe their high priced hourly rate was worth it due to their personal touch and prompt service. I gave them a try. I bought a boat that didn’t run and had sat in the water for at least 5 years. After 6 trips and several thousand dollars my boat is running but not ready for the water. They gave me an estimate to change yet another part and another $2k dollars. I called one of the owners and asked if I could get a free day of labor for all the money I had already spent and my boat still wasn’t ready for the water. I had asked them in the beginning that if they thought it would be less expensive to buy a new motor to let me know. But they insisted they could get my motor running. So anyway, the person I spoke to said he was ok with my proposal, but said he had a partner and had to talk to him and he said he would get back to me. That was before Christmas. It’s been over 3 months now and he has never gotten back to me. He doesn’t answer my texts, emails or phone calls. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! They don’t care about you!

Poseidon Marine - Failed in Every Way

I hired this company to conduct an inspection/survey of a sailboat, (Cape Coral, Florida).

I paid just over $600., for an inspection that was to last for up to two hours in duration. When I received the report, I was shocked to find so little information. There was no mention of the chainplates, sails, standard rigging, running rigging, anchor, chain, propane and oven system, condition of the deck (moisture meter reading). The inspection was to include a compression test on the engine but the surveyor claims he could not access this part of the engine (I can).

I found out later from the seller of the boat that the inspector was only there for 45 minutes. When he boarded the boat, he asked the owner “What’s wrong with the boat?”.
I called Poseidon Marine, after many phone calls, Sean, agreed to have the inspector amend the survey report and include so many parts of the boats he neglected. I never received it. I followed up everyday for a week or so. They said they would get back to me but never did. At one point, during our conversations, Sean admitted he knew nothing of sailboats. He went on to say that boats have a “gajillion parts on them” and if I wanted to know the condition of the chainplates and other parts I should have notified Poseidon Marine. Later, I spoke to a woman named Melissa who also admitted she didn’t know anything about sailboats.

Here is what the inspector wrote in the “Recommendation Section” of the report: “I recommend this boat, is very clean and runs very well.”

Absolutely awful - avoid at all costs!

A terrible experience (as so many others have noted). The only thing Poseidon cares about is making money off of boat owners and jacking up their hours so the customer pays, pays and pays more. I was given an estimate and the final bill was a whopping FOUR TIMES the estimate. Ask them to do A and then tell you they also need to do B and C. The workers left a huge mess in my boat and smoked cigarettes inside that left a stink throughout. Their customer service is non-existent. Do NOT trust your vessel to Poseidon.

$3,000 to replace (2) hubs and (2) leafsprings

Please read this before you consider using their services.
I submitted an online request, entered the year/model of my trailer, described the work needed, and uploaded photos. A service rep called to schedule, asking for my credit card upfront “so parts could be ordered ahead of time.” I agreed, thinking it meant they’d show up prepared.
The technician arrived at 9am, but he hadn’t even seen the photos I uploaded. After walking him through the issues, I left for work and called the shop to make sure they sent him the photos. A little later, I got a call asking to remove the tire for inspection. Then at 11am, they told me the leaf springs and hubs needed replacing. The estimate was about $650 for parts and 3 hours of labor at $195/hr — just over $1,200. Since the tech was already there, I reluctantly approved.
When I got home at 5pm, his truck was still in front of my house. He had spent most of the day waiting out rain in his truck, and when he did work, it was clear he wasn’t prepared. I even lent him jack stands, lubricant, and a stronger impact gun — only one of which he actually used.
The next day, I received a call from “Kurry” informing me the total was now over $3,000. Completely outrageous — yet consistent with the horror stories others have shared. I ended up having to argue with multiple employees, including one who even threatened to call the Sheriff. Without my approval, they charged my card and now I will have to spend time attempting to dispute.
Like many others here, I feel scammed. And yes, I blame myself for not reading reviews before hiring them. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
