I love the products. They have been solving my hair issues well.
But, I have been double charged every month since I signed up for the subscription to the items.
When I look for some understanding and customer service I can't seem to find it!!
Can someone please help?
I love the facial cleanser, moisturizer, shampoo, dry shampoo, and conditioner. I have a very sensitive scalp and skin and these are the only products that I have not developed sensitivities with. I can finally go one or two days without washing my hair and not develop dandruff. The dry shampoo is not perfect as it leaves a white residue on my dark hair. However, once I work it into my scalp, it does a great job absorbing oil. My face also looks more radiant and my wrinkles are not as noticeable at my age of 50. I am ambivalent about the curl cream. I have wavy hair that tends to frizz. Some days the curl cream works great. Other days I have terrible fuzz.
I would like to give Prose 4 or 5 stars but I must give a 3 because of ongoing shipping issues. Given that they are a subscription service, having shipments arrive on time is crucial. It's not like I can go to a local store when I run out of product. Since late last year, about a third of my items have either never arrived or have arrived 4-5 weeks after their supposed delivery date. I appreciate Prose's customer service. Their response time is fantastic and they have been willing to explore a fair way to resolve the issue each time. However, the shipping issues are increasing and becoming more problematic instead of improving. They use DHL, which in my experience is terribly unreliable. Part of the issue is that DHL hands off the products to USPS which is supposed to make the final delivery. There are issues 30-40% of the time with the product either being lost during the hand-off or being shipped around multiple states through multiple USPS branches before it arrives to me. I understand current global events do not help. But like I mentioned, this is not a new issue and is only continuing to escalate.
I'm in the process of exploring other options with my dermatologist in the event I need to cancel my subscription. I really hope it does not come to this. Even though Prose is expensive, the products I would likely need would be just as expensive and potentially not work as well. I really hope I can come back here and give 5 stars in the near future.
I genuinely love Prose’s products- the quality is excellent and the cusomization has worked very well for me.
My experiences with customer service have also been positive. When I’ve had issues, orders were replaced without much difficulty. Canceling the subscription also appears to be straightforward, and when I considered canceling, I was offered a discount to stay, which I chose to accept.
That said, the subscription process itself is extremely frustrating and downright predatory. Orders are processed without any advance notification, making it difficult to review or modify before being charged. You have to remember to log in and manage it yourself ahead of time.
I’ve reached out about this multiple times and was told that advance order notifications aren’t sent due to customer's preferred email cadence, even though promotional emails are sent regularly.
Overall, the product and support are strong, but the subscription experience is predatory and could be improved significantly with a simple reminder before orders are processed.
Awful. I cancelled my subscription 2 years ago and for some reason they decided to automatically send me $80.00 worth of product I did not order. Can’t get them to respond to my emails. Even contacted BBB. I’m going to have to get a new debit card so this doesn’t happen again. I don’t know how these people stay in business. Also there is no customer service phone number. They suck!

Their shipping is unbelievably slow. I have been waiting 2 months for my first shipment and they won't cancel it. I will never order from this company again.

This product was very drying to my hair. I have 2c type curls. I purchased shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, curl cream and curl gel. I gave up after 2 uses. It was difficult to comb conditioner through hair in shower. And the overall use of these products made my hair more dry and more course. I have better results with store bought products. Definitely not worth the cost to increase the existing struggle with my hair type.

I found the product wasn’t any better than a cheap grocery store product. It cleaned ok but was very expensive. I thought I had canceled it only to get another shipment of very expensive shampoo. So I cancelled it again and once again received a shipment. I now have two unwanted shipments. Customer service cancelled it for me.

Just like everybody else, I have been waiting forever for my order to arrive and nothing. Zero communication. I’ve reached out multiple times and their customer service reply is zero help, not to mention full of spelling errors. They just come at you with the sorry you feel this way too bad for you lines. Definitely not worth the copious amounts of money they are charging.

Over priced rip off scam and bad customer service! Completely thinned my hair out over the course of 1 year! Then my hair started falling out in crazy amounts. I contact prose asking for a discount for my next order. They just then made some long speech on how breakage and hair shedding is different! Then they took 2 days to reply, just to tell me to take some survey. So i did and i waited another 2 days for a reply. Then they kept asking dumb questions like 'what shampoo and conditioner are you using?' WHILE THEY Knew i was only using prose products. Over all don't buy from them unless you want messed up hair. The ingredients are also not even that healthy or natural . over priced and bad customer service DO NOT BUY FROM prose !

I have not been able to successfully reach anyone regarding my request for cancellation and refund. I accidentally placed an order today Feb.27th 2026. I immediately requested the cancellation and refund. Conveniently, the only way to get in contact with this company is via email, website inquiry, or social media messaging. I have exhausted all avenues and have not received a response other than the standard 'we will get back to you within such and such days'. I'm sure this allows time for them to ship out the products, eliminate the possibility of cancellation, and forfeit a refund. I cannot continue to do business with a company that is not readily available for these types of circumstances. It doesn't matter how good the products are. If customer service is not taken seriously, then it is not worth the stress of fixing an issue.

Had my subscription of 3 items on snooze. They charged me for a single shampoo I did not order. I hadn’t even logged in for a long time, much less the date it was ordered. Something on their end ordered this single shampoo (I have never ordered a single item from them). I cancelled my subscription and removed my payment method. I suggest everyone do the same. Shady business practices.

I fell for those stupid influencer ads. I went through 2 sets (and a 3rd in my possession because I forgot to cancel before it shipped). They don't notify you when they ship new products, so watch out for that. I would find out when I'd get an email from PayPay notifying me my card was charged.
Prose is too expensive for the results I got. I was expecting salon level products...foolishly. After going through 2 sets of shampoo, conditioner and curl cream, I'm left disappointed and having major buyer's remorse. I expected my hair to look and feel the same as it does when I get my hair done in a salon, just based on their claims and that they say they tailor these formulas to your hair type and the environment you live in. You get to choose your scent, which is important because I'm sensitive to strong scents. The scent didn't make me sick, but I don't like it. Their shampoo and conditioner make my roots oily within a couple of days, especially when I used the curl cream. The curl cream dulls the shininess of my hair, but that was kind of expected. The stuff I used to buy in grocery stores worked better than Prose (Bl Renpure Biotin & Collagen). I could previously go 5 days between washes before it would start getting oily. I don't want to wash my hair every couple of days if I don't have to. My roots were oily, but my lengths were feeling dry and frizzy. Day after wash, I'd brush my hair and it looked like straw. My hair would look puffed and frizzy. I'd spray my roots with dry shampoo and rub leave-in conditioner or water on the lengths to smooth it down. I used to be able to wash, air dry and go if I wanted to. Not with Prose.
I used Prose for over 6 weeks, hoping I'd eventually see better results. They tell you to stick it out long enough for your hair to get used to it. It started looking like the part in my hair was getting wider and it seemed like I was shedding more hair than usual. The amount of hair that would come out after a shower was shocking. I can't say for sure if their products were the cause, but I've seen several posts/reviews saying they're seeing the same issues. The curl cream is a joke. I put the stuff in my hair and it stays curly for a short time. I live in a dry area where the humidity is low. I scrunched my hair up like they said and I was left with some straight strands and some wavy strands... poofy, dull and frizzy. It looked like I came out of a fire. I followed their suggestion and twisted my hair up after putting the cream in my hair and my hair goes straight within minutes. I used the "sock curl" method, slept in it and then took it out after 12 hours! My hair was super curly...for a few minutes. The right side of my hair went straight almost immediately and the left side followed a few minutes later. When I use the sock curl method without the curl cream, the curls last ALL DAY. How is that possible?! I guess the cream is too heavy. While I don't have tight curls, more like 2a waves, I was previously using Cantu curl cream and that stuff turns my hair from 2a to 2c and the curls last for days, as long as I don't sleep with my hair down. If you're willing to pay ~$100 for a month's supply of hair care products, you'll be better off buying products from a salon.

Politics and Prose Bookstore is a wonderful bookstore in D.C. It has nothing to do with the hair product prose.com
First it is a subscription so they keep sending and charging you. I received email that order has been place at 100am. I requested cancelation at 700am. They sent it anyway. I finally figured out how to cancel the subscription, but after they charged $124. I will send the product back..

They literally showed a person with mixed hair types of straight and curly that they can make a solution for that. The questionnaire does NOT address more than one hair type (those of us who have both straight and curly hair) and only allows you to choose one type, and as a result, my hair is extremely knotted, even worse than when using with a grocery store level conditioner. The grocery store conditioner actually works way better and is a tiny fraction of the price at less than $10 per bottle for a very large size. Why would I spend the prose level of money for something so unhelpful?

Do no order from Prose. Their customer service a sales practices are so predatory, it doesn’t even matter if the product is good.
I ordered December 26, the order did not ship until Jan 12 and arrived Jan 23. I got to try it a few times and made my skin, itchy, red, and break out and hair gunky and scalp irritated. Then I get an email Jan 30 that my subscription is renewed without any warning or reminder (I’ve never had this with a subscription before). Getting their 30-day satisfaction refund is nearly impossible. They make you email them, and then bounce you around to various “departments” where they tell you they can’t do anything with a variety of excuses that show they either do not read the emails OR are being willfully obtuse to drag out the process until the customer gives up.

I placed an order for shampoo and conditioner. Upon receipt, the package included the aforementioned items along with vitamins. I subsequently discovered that the conditioner contained an ingredient to which I am allergic. Furthermore, I was charged for a vitamin subscription that I had not authorized. When I contacted customer service to cancel this unauthorized subscription and explain my allergy, I was informed that the items were all ready for shipment and charged, and therefore would not be stopped.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Their subscription process is very shady.
1. They do not give you any warning (like most reputable companies do) a few days before the order ships to skip if needed. They then make it nearly impossible to cancel.
2. They do not adhere to subscription timelines and send product when they feel like it. I had a subscription to renew after 12 weeks. At the 8 week mark they auto charged and notified me they were trying to ship the product. They make it extremely difficult to cancel.

i only gave them a one because you can't give them lower! Totally unethical company! Charges me for products after I had cancelled and you can't get ahold of anyone at the company to straighten it out. I had to file a fraud claim with the back. The changed me for skin care products when I know damn well I had cancelled the subscription. First products were okay but the second shipment made me itch. It was not the same as the 1st product that shipped. I will never recommend this company to anyone!

Respuesta de Prose
Very unethical company. They will do everything they can to trick you into a subscription and then not give you any warning before shipping out a new product at a horrendously overpriced charge. If you complain they take days to respond. And of course, they will not lift a finger to make things right. In my particular case, I saw a charge and immediately canceled in alarm. I sent them an email as well. SUBSEQUENTLY received a text they were working on my product. No respond until days later, with them essentially saying ‘sorry, we already were working on this by the time you canceled (LIE) so we can’t do anything about it.’
Their product itself is below average at best. They tout themselves as being ‘custom’ but as it comes down to it, regardless of your specified custom type, there’s only so many variations from one product to the next (it’s why it is so quick for them to spit out packages). I wouldn’t buy their products even if it cost 25 percent of its advertised price.
Worst, most unethical company ever. It’s only good if you like seeing your name on your care products to make you feel as if you are special.
