Dehumanisation of Disabled customers.

I cannot at all recommend this company in any faith, I truly have the opinion to avoid them at all costs in any instance but want to start by making it clear that the venue (The Legend) and the acts booked through this company have done nothing wrong and are in no way tied to this review. I will also make it clear, due to the replies to other reviews from Qwerky Events in response to members of our party who have left reviews that the only swearing came from myself, once, in the phrase asked ‘Can you not see this is F*****?’ In a spoken voice, with distance between ourselves and the other party involved. No voices were raised from either party, no ‘abusive behaviour’ came from either party and as for the ‘the group remained around them demanding that the matter be resolved immediately’ that is a stretch. We were a group of 10, 4 spoke with him in a space he lead them too while I was supported with a ramp from the venue to access the building in my wheelchair. There was no aggressive or abusive behaviour from Jason or any of the 4 who spoke with him. We are all professional adults with understanding in disability law and rights who were completely sober but understandably upset at the blatant disregard and active discrimination present in the situation and how it was being handled by Jason as the director of the company [Information available through the GOV company directory, thus Public knowledge]. He is not just a ‘member of staff’ he is the company director. His actions represent Qwerky Events, His company, which he has failed to mention in all replies given both via emails to the Maid of Honour and publicly in responses to reviews.
The Maid Of Honour, the brides sisters, booked the event a month or so ago after spending a days of collaboration between myself and her to make sure it was going to be accessible for myself as a wheelchair user, the bride who uses mobility aids in the form of a walking stick and another attendee in our group who requires mobility aid supports during periods of ill health. With the communication with the a representative of Qwerky Events we had an understanding and contract that the venue was accepted with cavats and would still work for our party. The booking was paid upfront and we then progressed with planning the entire bachelorette weekend around this event. Despite booking this advance and Qwerky Events being aware of a venue change in May, seven weeks prior, we were not updated of a venue change until the day before with no mention of accessibility or access being something that had changed. It wasn’t until the day of the event in which we were emailed while already on the train into Brighton that the venue they had been moved to was no longer something I would be able to access in a wheelchair. The ‘solutions’ offered to this were where the first instance of complete disregard and lack of any understanding or respect from Qwerky around equality and disability became evident. Two options offered, a refund to the group minus to the deposit which wasn’t acceptable on the premise we were at no fault. The second solution was nothing short of dehumanising. To refund only myself and expect the group to exclude me while they continued with the brunch. I was made to feel like the problem, a inconvenience and like I wasn’t deserving of a shred of dignity purely based on the fact I am in a wheelchair unable to get up and down a flight of stairs. To suggest that excluding me was a ‘solution’ that Qwerky found more than reasonable without even so much as an apology is where the entire issue lay. We attended the venue to speak to Jason as there was no contact number, as mentioned we are a group of 10, 3 went to speak with Jason [only two spoke, one was there silently and to support] as I accessed the venue with impeccable care and support from The Legend staff, they were nothing short of fantastic, and then there were 4 with Jason. During this conversation he was standoffish, arrogant and refused to accept any responsibility or to even acknowledge any discrimination. He repeated ‘its not my fault’ countless times, ‘it’s not discrimination’, ‘Brighton isn’t accessible’, and showed complete ignorance to showing any basic ability to treat a person in a wheelchair with dignity. While in responses he has stated such comments were made in regards to venue availability, that was not how it was communicated at all and there are three other witnesses to that. Only now in response to the public reviews has Qwerky Events apologised in response and email, this was far too late and only came from public pressure. No, this is not a campaign against a business as suggested in emails exchanges following the reviews. This is a safeguard to stop any other disabled individual feeling dehumanised the way I was. This is my opinion based on personal experience.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience

As can be seen in previous reviews, my party were meant to attend a drag brunch for a friend's hen do. This was not possible due to accessibility issues that we were not informed of until an hour before the event.

I had not planned to leave a negative review since other already had and I don't think it's fair to leave multiple negative reviews for one event. However, following the responses from Jason/Qwerky events on those reviews that painted our group as belligerent, intimidating, and aggressive, I couldn't stay quiet.

We went to the venue because we wanted to speak to someone in person since there is no contact number and, looking back at other reviews, this was the correct choice because response to emails/messages seems sporadic at best. At no point did we become aggressive, or impact any other customer's day. The only people who went to speak to Jason were the bride, their older sister who booked the event, and the person affected by the accessibility issues. The other 7 members of our party purposely stayed behind in the main bar and didn't speak to anyone to avoid making a scene, ruining anyone else's experience, or reflecting badly on the venue who were not at fault and were incredibly kind and helpful.

I feel like purposeful misrepresentation of our group is being used to make us seem irrational and overreacting. This is clearly an attempt to shift the blame and avoid casting the company in a bad light.

We understand that accessibility issues cannot be helped, the issue was with the lack of communication and the contempt with which we were treated when we asked to be refunded. We did not try to get anyone to bend or break health and safety rules, it was Jason who suggested our friend, who cannot walk at all, attempt to make her way downstairs, and leave her wheelchair upstairs which would be impossible and demeaning.

I have worked as a customer relations specialist for many years and seen my fair share of customers abusing coworkers. I understand that frustration can lead to heated conversation but we were all very conscious of this and did our very best to avoid any aggression.

To finish, I want to make it clear that this is not an attempt to get anything from the business, or to unnecessarily inconvenience them. The reason for these reviews is to warn others and to hopefully impress upon this and other businesses that disregard for the needs and dignity of disabled people will not be tolerated.

Awful communication and lack of customer service skills

EDIT: since writing this Jason has contacted me to request I remove my review, and that other members of my group do the same. Unfortunately, he has entirely missed the point of the complaint as we may have received a refund, we only got this after having to request it via email and in person and explaining that as he could no longer uphold the agreement it meant we could no longer attend. At no point have we claimed he swore, we have simply highlighted his lack of customer service and empathy in a situation that should have been resolved upon them realising they could no longer accommodate us.

REVIEW I booked this brunch in march for my siblings hendo in July, after emailing the venue to confirm they would be able to accommodate a wheelchair user for the event. They advised on email wheelchair access was available and I went ahead with booking for eleven people.

I received an email the afternoon before the event advising of a venue change, then received a follow up 2 hours before we were due to arrive advising the new venue wasn’t accessible unless the wheelchair user had “some kind of mobility to get down 1 flight of stairs”.

I responded to request a full refund as we now obviously could not attend, and was told they could refund the wheelchair user & give the rest of the party some extra bubbles, or refund the group MINUS the deposit.

Neither of these options should have been offered, especially when considering we learned afterwards the venue change had actually taken place 7 weeks ago. Qwerky have a clear issue in their set up and communications, this could have been resolved at the time of the venue change and we would have arranged an alternative.

Instead, we were on a train to Brighton after many of us traveling from afar (including Wales, Scotland and Ireland) when we found out we could no longer go ahead with the planned activity and also potentially not receiving a full refund.

Whilst we have now received our full money back, we have not received an apology despite them having clearly missed an important requirement and could no longer accommodate us. Instead, I have been told over email and in person that it was “out of their control” and that the new safety regulations mean they can’t accommodate. I am well aware that safety regulations are important and I would not want anyone at risk in case of emergency, which is why it is so shocking that the venue change, with significantly different accessibility options, was not communicated much sooner and also a full refund wasn’t the first immediate choice.

After speaking with Jason who runs the events he was rude and lacked empathy or understanding, saying both in person and on email that “in Brighton an accessible venue is near impossible to come across”. I was then told my attitude was unacceptable, despite being entirely sober and calm throughout a conversation where no responsibility was being taken, never mind the complete lack of understanding or care towards the person in the chair. Interestingly, we found plenty of alternative options to accommodate our group….

The venue itself, Legends, were incredibly lovely and apologetic about the situation and are actually accessible on the top floor, so we were at least able to enjoy a drink whilst we set about finding an alternative plan for the day.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that the change of venue and the resulting accessibility restriction caused significant disappointment and disruption to your group.

However, we do not agree that this review accurately reflects the full circumstances or the way the matter was handled on the day.

The brunch takes place on the lower ground floor event space at Legends. Under the venue’s fire safety, access and emergency evacuation requirements, wheelchair users cannot be accommodated in that area. This is not a restriction that Qwerky Events can override, and we would never knowingly place a customer at risk or ask a venue to disregard its safety procedures.

We acknowledge that the accessibility implications of the venue change should have been identified and communicated to your group sooner but we had an internal noted issues meaning this was not seen until the day of the event. Once the issue was reviewed, a full refund was issued to all members of the booking, including the deposits.

When members of the group attended the venue, our staff remained polite and attempted to discuss the available options while preparing to welcome approximately 70 other customers. Unfortunately, members of our team were met with confrontational behaviour and swearing, and one staff member was prevented from continuing their event duties while the group remained around them demanding that the matter be resolved immediately. This delayed the start of the brunch and affected our ability to serve the other customers waiting to attend.

At no point did Qwerky Events staff swear, raise their voices or behave abusively. We understand that the group was upset, but we do not accept aggressive or abusive behaviour towards our staff.

The comments about accessibility in Brighton were made in the context of the difficulty of finding a suitable venue that can accommodate the capacity, format and operational requirements of this particular brunch, not as a claim that Brighton as a whole is inaccessible.

We accept responsibility for not communicating the accessibility change early enough, and the full refund reflects that. We are also reviewing our communication procedures and exploring an alternative brunch format that can safely accommodate wheelchair users and guests with a wider range of mobility requirements.

While we respect your right to leave a review, we do not accept several of the descriptions of our conduct, which do not reflect our recollection of the events or the behaviour experienced by our staff.

refused my friend agreed wheelchair access with 2 hours notice.

My sister booked for 10 of us to attend a QWERKY brunch for my hen-do, on the condition that the (then) scheduled venue was feasibly accessible for one of my best friends and bridesmaids who is a wheelchair-user. Multiple emails and phonecalls were exhanged with QWERKY to determine that our friend could attend - It wasn’t perfect but it was do-able and our whole weekend was planned around this being an event we could all access. one day before the event we were emailed about a venue change, there was no mention of accessibility changing in that email. as we were on the train to brighton we recieve an email asking us if our friend could manage to go down & back up a flight of stairs and if they minded leaving their wheelchair upstairs for the duration of the show. They insisted this was not their fault and they were forced out of their previous venue (we later found out from the replacement venue staff, who were fantastic and not at all to fault, the venue change had happened 7 weeks earlier which can also be seen in an instagram post from May 2026 on their account). there was no offer of any refund in this email. We understandably could not subject my friend to a) being carried down and up a flight of stairs and stranded on a static chair for the two hours of the show or b) being left upstairs alone and requested a refund. We were offered either a full refund for the one wheelchair user or a partial refund for everyone - given the extensive communication in advance about the access needs of my friend we could simply not accept that we were to forefeit our deposit because of their venue change, especially when we were given barely 2 hours notice that the accessibility had changed. We went to the new venue to speak to Jason in person as there was no phone number provided to us and he was rude, condescending and frankly ignorant of the law. he told us we should have checked the QWERKY instagram account as he shouldnt be expected to email 10,000 people about key changes to the events they have paid him money to attend - i checked and the QWERKY account has approximately 2500 followers, with the post announcing the venue change having 25 likes at the time of writing. clearly, Jason, you are not reaching 10,000 people on instagram and you should consider just accepting your failure of communication and consideration in this instance.
We were told that brighton just simply isnt accessible, despite it being trans pride and there being many beautiful people using many kinds of mobility and medical aids in the march outside, and the very venue they were in did in fact have a ramp to access the ground floor bar, just not the lower room. Despite Jason’s pessimism we did in fact find plenty of accessible options to enjoy our time in Brighton - The North Star and Las Iguanas were both incredibly accommodating and lovely and frankly offended someone would suggest Brighton is entirely inaccessible.
We refused to leave until we obtained, in writing, a promise of a full refund - which we have now recieved. We also recieved another email reiterating that it was not their fault the venue changed, ignoring the extensive timeframe they had to contact all their PAYING CUSTOMERS directly via email - where professional communication happens. i could never reccommend this company in good faith. For absolute clarity, the venue (The Legend) and its staff as well as the drag acts who performed at the brunch (who were not actually advertised publically anywhere i could find?) bear zero fault.

Edit to add:
Since posting my honest review my sister has recieved multiple emails requesting the reviews of our experience be taken down as it will affect the business, i cannot allow another disabled person to be put in the situation my friend was by this company and will not be removing or rescinding my review.

Don’t book through this company.

I booked a bottomless drag brunch for my hen weekend and paid in full with confirmation. A couple of weeks later they contacted me to say that the venue could not accommodate my chosen time and offered another time. This other time did not work for me, so I replied immediately asking if they would find me another venue or issue a refund. I sent 4 more emails over a couple the following weeks, and messaged them through Facebook and Instagram, but never received any response. I had to involve my credit card company to deal with it, as I was £500 out of pocket and needed to make another booking urgently. They finally messaged me once the week before my hen weekend, apologising that they had been busy. It was an extremely stressful situation.

Exactly what a drag brunch should be!

Just back from the drag brunch and my jaw still hurts from laughing. The queens were incredible - fast, funny, and genuinely talented performers who knew exactly how to handle the Brighton crowd.

The atmosphere was 10/10 and the drinks actually kept flowing, which is rare for a bottomless deal. It’s loud, it’s camp, and it’s the most fun I’ve had on a Saturday in a long time.

If you’re looking for a boring, quiet lunch, go somewhere else. If you want a party, book this now!

Theft

I booked a bottomeless drag brunch on 22 November 2025 on the same day through Eventbrite. We turned up to the venue at 5pm, when it was starting, just to be told that the tickets were sold to us by mistake and they would refund me. They took my name and messaged qwerky events. I messaged Qwerky events in the following few days via email and did not receive a response. I have emailed them a number of times since and have not recieved a response. This is effectively fraud and they have stolen £120 from me. Avoid this company at all costs

Hi MAtt

We’re really sorry to read this and understand how frustrating that experience must have been.

To clarify, QWERKY would never intentionally oversell tickets or withhold a refund. In rare circumstances, ticketing platform errors or last-minute allocation issues can occur, and where that happens we always arrange a refund as quickly as possible.

We have checked our records and cannot currently locate unresolved correspondence linked to this booking. It’s possible your messages did not reach us, which we apologise for if so.

Please email us directly at booking@qwerky.events with your Eventbrite order number and the name used for the booking, and we will prioritise this immediately to ensure it is resolved.

We take accusations of fraud extremely seriously and can assure you this is not reflective of how we operate. We have been running events successfully for several years and always work to resolve genuine issues promptly.

We look forward to hearing from you so we can get this sorted.

0 stars review - Mis-sold tickets for a time slot of an event that doesn’t even exist anymore. Not responding to any of my emails, or messages on their social media. Conveniently, they don’t have a contact number to call either. Had to reach out to my bank to get my money back, absolute fraudulent behaviour.

In reply to your response to this review - I have also messaged you on your instagram social media, it is clearly an official account of yours and still no response. I have also submitted the contact forms twice on your website, still no response. In addition, I also reached out to you on Eventbrite app where I bought your tickets, again, no response. I have escalted the matters to my bank and paypal now, they will sort this out since you have no real intention to. No more excuses please :)

My tickets were for Saturday 8th Nov, 5pm. The tickets that I got emailed the day before, stated 2pm... Even though I paid for the 5pm slot. I arrived at the venue at 5pm thinking it was a typo in the tickets, only to be told by the bar manager, that they don't do 5pm slots anymore. And you may say I should have arrived at 2pm if my tickets said 2pm, but then why email my tickets only a day before the event? I recieved no other emails telling me my booking has been moved to 2pm?

Such a fun day!

Such a fun day!
The acts were fun and inclusive, they really involved the crowd by playing games and getting them out of their comfort zones.
The atmosphere was brilliant.
Food was ok and they catered to individual needs.
The cocktails were dangerous (which I like). The only disappointment was they ran out of Prosecco but they still had a good selection of drinks as an alternative.
All in all, I had a really fun time. We stayed well beyond the brunch and met with some incredible people.

Had a fabulous Drag brunch with the girls, it's a great, intimate venue so there is lots of interaction with everyone which led to lots of banter.
The Drag Queens Alex and Darcy were great hosts, playing games and singing. Service was great to get refill on the cocktails, don't be fooled, they are VERY alcoholic 🤣🤗
Absolutely recommend 👌

This is such a fun afternoon out! The drinks were delicious, went down a bit too easy! Lovely substantial burgers as the meal. Most importantly the Queens were hilarious with great voices, a real treat to enjoy live singing. They took the time to go around all the tables and have little jokes with everyone while clearly explaining the different games all mixed with different music, something for everyone to enjoy!
