Service mechanic got to property when said and was very professional and informative.

Good communication from start to finish of appointment and worked continueslly on a hot day. Advised me that rear disks did not need changing and final charge less than anticipated.

It was an easy process from booking my service date on your website to the final service. I was kept abreast of things and my mechanic texted when he was on the way. He was very helpful and polite and worked diligently. The price was competitive and it is so convenient. The mechanic was able to finish my payment on the day. All excellent,

RAC are brilliant the mechanic been out and fixed my hubby van twice now highly recommend only issue I have is I am a blues badge holder I it took them 3 hours to get to us when blue badge holders are supposed to be prioritised I understand they have to wait for a patrol in the area but if that prioritised then i wouldn’t like to know how long a normal driver would have to wait other than this great service lovely men polite friendly

Having never used a mobile mechanic I found from booking to paying completely stress free. Jack updated me with his ETA throughout the day and on arrival simply got on with the job and finished within an hour.

I had my brakes, calipers and disks changed by Paul Malone-Smith. I was really impressed with his professionalism and helpful service. This was the first time I've used a mobile mechanic with RAC and I felt like I could trust Paul with my car. He was efficient with changing the brakes and even took the extra time to explain what had been changed and what had happened with the calipers. Really recommend the mobile mechanic service to others and would be happy to have Paul work on my car again. Thanks!

Sean o’Connor was the mechanic who carried out the service on my car. He kept me fully informed prior to arriving and at every stage throughout the service.
He was diligent and thorough throughout. When he realised he had the wrong air filters he was happy to leave to get the correct ones even though that meant working until after 6pm in order to finish the job correctly.

I'm not happy just had a service yesterday. Now I have noticed you are offering a service with £15 off plus aircon clean.i have been with RAC a long time now considering GREEN FLAG.😱

RAC let me down repeatedly on a simple brake repair, poor communication throughout

I booked the RAC to replace my brakes and discs, and the experience has been a catalogue of missed deadlines, poor communication, and wasted time. Here's the full timeline:

31 July: Booked a priority appointment with a guaranteed arrival before 10:30. The engineer failed to arrive by this time because the parts hadn't turned up. He eventually arrived at 14:30, four hours after the agreed window, but didn't have the correct tool to carry out the repair.

4 August: Rebooked as a second priority appointment (at an additional £15 charge), again for arrival before 10:30. By 11:31, no engineer had arrived and I'd received no communication about a revised arrival time.

I then called RAC three times over the course of the day to chase this up:

At 14:00, I selected the option to enquire about my mechanic's arrival time. I was told the mechanic would call me directly, and the call was then cut off.
At 17:05, I called again and selected the option to request a mechanic. This time I got through to a person, who said she'd check with the scheduling team and someone would call me back.
At 18:35, having received no call back, I called a third time, selected the same option as before, and was simply told the office was now closed.

To add insult to injury, when I'd asked earlier to change my own appointment at short notice, I was told this would cost me £100. Given that RAC has now missed a fixed, agreed arrival time on three separate occasions and failed to complete the repair despite an engineer attending, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the same accountability to apply the other way around.

It's also worth noting that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and where a time is fixed as part of the agreement (as it was here, three times, with an explicit pre-10:30 priority slot), within that time. That hasn't happened on any occasion.

Overall, I've found RAC's customer service and scheduling processes genuinely poor. To be fair, the mobile engineers themselves have generally seemed capable, though it's possible some lack the experience needed for certain models.
