Racism, poor treatment and given runaround and lies about being emailed a lease renewal
I have been living here now 7 years and I have never had an issue renewing my lease until this year. They have always put a letter at my door and emailed me a renewal until this year. I have received no email or letter for renewal. I went to the office and asked about my renewal and was told they had sent a renewal to me email. I doubled checked they had the right email and they did on February 13th. The woman in the office said she would have to check with her manager about sending me a renewal of lease but she is out of town. My lease ends as of February the 26th ( which is 8 days from now)and I am trying not to wait till the last minute but I seem to be getting the run around and I am now worried that they are waiting till the lease is up so the can evict me after 7 loayal years of paying my rent on time. I have always paid my rent even during Covid. I am not understanding why they can’t renew my lease or notify me that they are not going to renew my lease. I have been treated very differently by the new employees and have fixed anything that has broken in my apartment because I seem to get attitude anytime I have asked for anything to be fixed. This has been the only home I have known since moving from Florida to Mississippi and the only issue that has concerned me since being here is that I seem to be treated differently as white male and dismissed when I have voiced any concerns. I would like an answer about if they are going to renew my lease or not instead of constantly being given excuses. I would like an answer from corporate on why the color of my skin should make any difference on how I am treated given I have always paid my rent and taken care of my apartment, and fixed anything that has ever broken myself.
