Grate service

Very poor customer service

I was interested in having the platinum cover for my central heating system. I telephoned to ensure that my boiler which is over 25 years old would be covered and was assured that it would. I was told that I would need to have my boiler serviced and if it received a good report from the gas engineer then I would be able to take out cover. I had the boiler serviced and was told it was A OK by the engineer. It has taken 2 weeks and 3 telephone calls to get a response from Poolmans. The first time I was told someone would phone me back and no one did .The second time I was told that the engineers report had to be looked at and was the told that the person who would look at it was off sick. Today I get a call to say that yes they are happy to insure my boiler but it would cost £30 a month and not £22 a month advertised in their literature. I was told that priced range from £22 . This was not discussed when I first telephoned to make enquiries about the platinum cover and so I went ahead and booked for the boiler service. This is sharp practice and not the first time I have had problems with Poolmans being less than transparent in their dealings with their customer. Very poor I will never use them again

A very helpful local Company

I switched to RB Poolman from British Gas, after trying to get British Gas to service my central heating for over a year without success. They are a friendly local company who care about their customers and I have always been very satisfied with their work.

I would thoroughly recommend them.

Broke our boiler, left it non compliant - Took no responsibility

New build, recommended RB Poolman

First service; Amazing service, great engineer

Second service; Engineer didn't work for the company full time, only helped out part time as he was friends with the owner. He complained about how efficient they must work and while rushing broke the front panel on our boiler removing it. We asked for a slot after 3pm and he arrived just before 5 with 3 jobs to go after ours.

He did not take responsibility for cracking the clips, explained he's never seen one crack like that and it was peanuts to repair and he'll be back later in the week but has other appointments he has to go but stressed to us we must get it repaired soon and not to wait as the boiler is now not gas safe. If gas safe did an audit, it would fail as the case should be pressurized.

We got a quote for £235 for the plastic front panel, I don't know how much they're paid but that's not peanuts.

Rang up and complained and was told it's not their fault, they're taking no blame as the engineer said he didn't break the front panel - I asked to speak to the regional manager as they've come to our house, taken apart the boiler and have broken it and left it non compliant to gas safe.

I was told again they're not taking any blame and confirmed the way it was left was non compliant, again I asked to speak to the regional manager but was repeatedly told she was 'busy'.

I then emailed directly asking to speak to the regional manager and for them to send across the photos the engineer took of our boiler before and after the service.

Once I asked for the photos they sent over an email that they would supply and fit a brand new front panel free of charge.

Lovely engineer came and fit the new front panel. One of the first things he said is 'I've fit loads of these, they always seem to snap when we take them off, it's a design flaw'. They ordered the wrong part so we had to schedule a second appointment to get it fixed. The first engineer simply lied.

I still have not spoke to the regional manager and no one has reached out to apologise for the cowboy service we recieved. I highly recommend if you use RB Poolman for a service you take photos before they attend of your boiler incase this situation happens to you.

Brilliant Service Contract!

I have had a service contract with R B Poolman P&H for the last 3 years. They have been absolutely brilliant throughout, the only reason I am leaving them is because I am moving and they don't cover the area I'm moving too, otherwise I would be staying with them!
Their engineers are friendly, professional and helpful and always give a great service. Whenever I have needed them they have been really great and coming straight away.
The office staff are brilliant too, regular updates on when services are due and confirming everything, keeping in regular contact.

Brilliant from start to finish (new boiler)

My old boiler broke and friends recommended this company. My first phone call to Laura was met with empathy, plus her friendliness and enthusiasm to help was great. I received a competitive quote really quickly and they shuffled their schedule to get us in asap due to our existing boiler failing. Our old boiler was 30+yrs old and so deciding what to change to was challenging but they were really helpful and gave honest, helpful advice on what to pick (went from heat only with the old tank style to a combi).

On the day, 4 respectful young lads came round and got straight on with the job. They were very efficient, friendly and tidy. They did a really great job, took all our old boiler away with them and installed the new one with no issues. Finished in one day and there was no cosmetic work required after which was a relief.

The most senior of the lads, Josh, took the time to explain the new boiler to me and how everything works, including the new Hive thermostat and care plans on offer. He was very professional and informative.

Overall, a really great experience. The difference between the customer service offered with R.B.Poolman vs other competitors (big and smaller companies) was a huge difference, as well as their competitive pricing. A genuine thank you from me.

Boiler service and more

I have used R B Poolman for a wide range of plumbing, oil central heating and house development jobs over the last 8 years and they have always been first class. This week's oil boiler service was no different with thr job carried out professionally and efficiently.
