Patient Experience Review – Dr. Salim Salimov / Renemore by Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital (Istanbul) Turkey 2026

I will be as concise as possible while sharing my experience with Dr. Salim Salimov at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital in Istanbul, affiliated with Renemore.

On January 29, 2026, I underwent a hair and beard transplant. Unfortunately, what should have been a routine procedure turned into a serious medical situation.

Despite being a known diabetic patient—with full disclosure provided over two months in advance through medical records, forms, emails, and an in-person consultation with the hospital’s translator present—I was prescribed Prednol (prednisone), a medication known to significantly raise blood sugar levels.

At no point was this risk discussed with me, nor was any coordination made with an endocrinologist or appropriate monitoring plan established. No informed consent was obtained regarding this medication.

As a result, I experienced dangerously elevated and unstable blood sugar levels. My physicians in the United States later confirmed that prednisone was the direct cause.

What followed was equally concerning. While still in Istanbul and experiencing complications, my attempts to obtain answers were ignored. I received no meaningful follow-up from Dr. Salimov or his team. Communication ceased entirely.

Due to this, I was forced to extend my stay in Istanbul, seek additional medical care, purchase medications, and incur significant out-of-pocket expenses—all while missing work and facing major personal disruption.

Beyond the immediate health risks, the success of my hair transplant was also compromised. Weeks of uncontrolled blood sugar levels led to substantial graft loss.

I do not write reviews lightly. I have great respect for the medical profession—my spouse is a physician. However, patient safety and transparency must always come first.

In summary, I strongly urge others to carefully evaluate their options. I chose this provider based on the reputation of a large hospital system, but my experience did not reflect an acceptable standard of care.

For those in similar situations, please be aware that patients—both local and international—have legal rights in Turkey. I have retained legal counsel and will be pursuing this matter.

This situation has now moved beyond a private matter. A television and media broadcast interview will be released soon as this case gains wider public exposure. I will continue to provide updates as it unfolds.

I was going to include photos of the transplant area, as well as data from my Libre 3 monitor during the period of improper medication yet don’t see that option here. Nevertheless, I’m sure you will find it in the web.

I went here for a rhinoplasty. I my experience was really good. My Dokter: Mehmet Melih Cicek. He was really good and he understood me so good. I love the way my nose turned.

Burnumdan ameliyat oldum ve sonuçtan gerçekten çok memnun kaldım. Bu benim ikinci ameliyatımdı ve açıkçası biraz endişeliydim ama süreç düşündüğümden çok daha rahat geçti. Burnum tam istediğim gibi oldu, yüzüme çok doğal bir şekilde oturdu. Henüz bir yıl bile dolmamış olmasına rağmen sonuç şimdiden harika görünüyor.
Ameliyatımı yapan Doktorum Mustafa Akarçay gerçekten alanında çok başarılı ve güven veren biriydi. Sürecin en başından sonuna kadar her aşamada benimle ilgilendi. Ne zaman bir sorum olsa kendisiyle görüntülü konuşma imkani buldum, yani her zaman ulaşılabilir olması benim için çok önemliydi ve bu konuda gerçekten içimi rahatlattı.

Calışanlar da aynı şekilde çok ilgiliydi. Ne zaman yazdıysam hızlı bir şekilde dönüş yaptılar ve her konuda yardımcı oldular. Hemşireler güler yüzlüydü ve özellikle Şule Hanim ve Jale Hanım benimle çok güzel ilgilendi.
Genel olarak hem sonuçtan hem de aldığım hizmetten fazlasıyla memnun kaldım, gönül rahatlığıyla tavsiye ederim.

Ich habe eine Operation hinter mir und einen sehr tollen Berater an der Seite gehabt den Herr Alp . Er hat super schnell geantwortet, mich immer informiert und offene Fragen sofort geklärt . Sehr empfehlenswert ! Außerdem waren die Ärzte und Pflegekräfte alle super lieb und fürsorglich. Sie haben sehr gute Arbeit geleistet. Meine dolgmegerin hat mir durch die operationswoche nicht nur geholfen sondern ist mir an der Seite Gestanden und war für mich da .für ihre Unterstützung bin ich sehr dankbar und generell bin ich für das ganze Team sehr dankbar und sehr zufrieden mit ihrer Arbeit. Ich würde jeder Zeit wiederkommen .

I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery at Memorial Hospital in December 2025, and I can confidently say my experience was exceptional from start to finish.

My surgeon, Dr. Memet, is truly outstanding. His expertise, care, and attention to detail gave me so much confidence throughout the entire process. What stood out the most was how reachable and responsive he is—always available to answer questions and provide reassurance when needed. That level of dedication is rare and deeply appreciated.

I would also like to sincerely commend Berk, the coordinator, whose professionalism and organization made everything seamless. From scheduling to follow-ups, he ensured that every step was well-coordinated and stress-free.

A special thank you as well to Marwan, the interpreter, who made communication smooth and comfortable at all times. His support played a big role in making the whole experience even more reassuring.

Overall, Memorial Hospital exceeded my expectations. I am grateful for the care, professionalism, and compassion shown by the entire team. Highly recommended for anyone considering this journey.

Ich habe tatsächlich nach langer Sucherei die richtige Klinik gewählt und zu meinem Glück einen phenomenalen Chirug Herr Dr. Süleyman Aliyazicioglu hat meinen Traum verwirklicht. Von Aufnahme bis zur Entlassung habe ich mich wie im Urlaub mit ertklassiger Versorgung gefühlt. Meine Begleitung hat sich auch sehr gut gefühlt. Das Personal, der Service alles war einfach überragend top. Der Transfer hat einwandfrei geklappt, ich musste mich um nichts kümmern. Der Arzt hat mir die große Angst genommen, die ich vor der OP hatte, ich bereue es keinen Moment. Ich habe eine 360 Grad Bauchdeckenstraffung und eine Brustvergrösserung 550cc gemacht. Einfach top top top. Es ist jetzt fast 6 Wochen her ich bewege mich uneingeschränkt es tut nichts mehr weh, es zieht nicht. Was soll ich sagen? Gäbe es 10 Sterne, würde ich auch die vergeben. Leute mein Fazit: Wer nicht wagt, der nicht gewinnt. Dr Aliyazicioglu versteht sein Werk exzellent!!! Top Leistung.

I had a wonderful experience with MD Mehmet Melih Çiçek. I am very happy with my results. Berk my coordinator made the experience so much better. He was very helpful and was with us every step of the way. Can’t recommend him enough.

Ik heb een zeer goede ervaring met dit ziekenhuis, zo had ik eerst nog mijn bedenkingen omdat het in een ander land is maar mocht het weer nodig zijn zou ik opnieuw. Voor dit ziekenhuis kiezen. De gesprekken vooraf, de tolken, de zorg, de dokter en het eindresultaat zijn geweldig!!!
Er word erg goed na je geluisterd, dingen worden uitgebreid vooraf besproken en nogmaals de zorg en iedereen die erbij betrokken zijn zijn geweldig !!! 100 x beter als mijn eigen land ( nederland )

Great experience from start to finish!

Meine Schwägerin hat sich die Nase operieren lassen, wir sind mehr als zufrieden mit der kompletten Planung, Durchführung und Aufenthalt. An Professionalität nicht zu überbieten. Einfach erstklassige Arbeit, sehr freundliches Personal. Die Krankenschwestern waren sehr lieb unsere Betreuerin war sehr lieb und der Arzt war sehr kompetent und gut. Es hat alles schreiben geklappt mit Transfer Operation Aufenthalt. Preisleistung einfach unschlagbar. Ab jetzt werden alle unsere Operationen noch in diesem Krankenhaus Memorial gemacht. Danke noch mal das ganze Team.

Ich habe meine Nasenoperation bei Dr. Mustafa Akarcay im Memorial Hastanesi in Şişli durchführen lassen und bin wirklich unglaublich dankbar für diese Erfahrung.
Vom ersten Moment an war alles perfekt organisiert. Das gesamte Team war so herzlich, freundlich und aufmerksam, dass wir uns sofort wohl und sicher gefühlt haben. Egal welche Fragen wir hatten oder wie oft wir nachgefragt haben – es wurde sich immer Zeit genommen und alles geduldig erklärt. Wir hatten zu keiner Zeit das Gefühl, alleine zu sein.
Dr. Mustafa Akarcay ist nicht nur ein sehr kompetenter Arzt, sondern auch ein unglaublich sympathischer Mensch. Man merkt sofort, dass ihm seine Patienten wirklich am Herzen liegen.
Auch die Betreuung vor und nach der Operation war einfach toll. Es wurde sich immer erkundigt, ob alles in Ordnung ist, und man hat sich wirklich umsorgt gefühlt.

I recently had breast surgery at Memorial Hospital, and the entire experience was world-class. From the beginning, the logistics were well organised. The hospital provided a very reliable transfer service that handled all our transportation between the airport, hotel, and the hospital.

A special thank you to Dilara Gulyuva, who was my first point of contact. She was amazing at organizing my entire schedule and answering all my initial questions, which made me feel very confident in my decision.

The hospital’s structure is absolutely fantastic—modern and very clean. I stayed at the hospital for two nights post-surgery before being discharged to my hotel, and I felt well-cared for the entire time.

A huge thank you to Dr. Kadriye Ipek, who was incredibly careful and professional. She cleared all my doubts and made me feel very safe about the procedure. Also, a special thanks to our translator, Slava Ali. She was with us throughout the whole process, always kind and even giving us great tips on what to do in Istanbul.

My sincere apologies for reaching out here, but I have had an issue with my rhinoplasty results ( hard visible lump on the left hand side of the nose and a visible dent in the bridge of the bone). It’s been over a year since the surgery, and I’ve sent my photos across to the Doctor, been told to speak to 4 different people, finally got a translator, but it’s been 5 weeks, and despite following up multiple times, I have not received any further information or response ( to confirm, I am not even asking the Dr to respond immediately, just asking what to expect in terms of timeframes for review and response).

I am disappointed and confused why no one is providing any information or assisting. I know that not every surgery ends perfectly and there can be issues or complications after, but I picked Rememore because I was told that if that did happen, they would be able to fix for me and because, pre surgery, my expectations were set, communication was clear, and I never waited longer than a week to hear back( again, I am not even saying I want an immediate response, just communication on timeframes and what to expect).

I’ve always ensured to remain very polite during interactions, but with no communication, it being 5 weeks since sending my images across, I’m not sure what to do beside post here so I can try and get some help and manage my expectations.

It’s very disappointing, because prior to the surgery, the communication was lovely, which made me felt like Rememore would look after me if anything went wrong, and it felt like people cared. Once the surgery was over and I flagged the issues, it felt like no one wanted to manage it and people kept saying just to wait. Each time I contacted at the agreed time frame, I was told to wait again. At one point, I contacted on the agreed timeframe, my care coordinator never responded ( even though I could see the messages had been read) so I followed up with my translator, who then referred me to their boss, and then their boss transferred me to an entirely different translator after almost 6 weeks of contacting ( no new care coordinator was given ). The new translator was nice, but they were never involved in my care and I had never spoken to them nor met them. The last time I was told to wait was to the year mark ( which is fair), and I did, sent my photos as the issues still existed, and then it has now been 5 weeks, multiple follow ups, and no communication or explanation .

I would really love to continue to use Rememore for my surgeries ( as I did have another I wanted to book). But if someone could communicate an outcome to my issue, I would be so appreciative!

Ps I do want to clarify that my breathing is AMAZING after the surgery! They did a beautiful job fixing that! It is just the hard lump on the left hand side that distorts the nose, and the dent in the bone that are an issue! I did actually speak to an Australian surgeon ( as I live in Australia) and he said both issues are minor surgery and could be easily corrected.
