i really wouldn’t bother with this car…

i really wouldn’t bother with this car dealer unless you like losing your money. Buy a car for over 10,000 2 months latwr the engine seizes and they didnt wanna know so I had to pay out another £1600 to put the car in a drivable condition again. Was reported 2 trading standards n they told me they are already building a case to prosecute gareth the crook owner. Lots of the local repair garages said since they wouldn’t even buy a wheelbarrow off these and to stay well well away from them I just wish I knew this first, explains why they have low reviews on here wish I read them 1st

PLS AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! gareth is a con man and aled isnt much better. there are other reviews everywhere saying the same sorts od stuff. we brought an expensive car from them to be delivered and it was delivered but was nothing like he described. i complained and said I don't want the car because loads of issues and i want a refund in full. weeks went by and constant phone calls to them and nothing.

so i paid for a car, they took the car back because it wasnt as described and didn;t give me my money back but the best bit is they was advertising the car up for sale again, which legally isnt allowed and relevant authorities jave been told and building a case.

Cowboy company

Brought a car 6600. Within 2 months the car needed a new engine. Reo arranged for reconditioned engine new wet belt and oil filter to be fitted. This took a further 2 months. No one gets back with updates just excuses. 5 months later, only having the car 9 month, the engine needed renewing. The engine was not reconditioned and no new wet belt or filters changed. Contacted Reo. Again would not respond to calls. I was told the owner gareth does not have face to face contact with customers. Refused to help. The garage that supposedly did the work on the engine would only deal with reo as they paid for the engine but Reo would not communicate with this garage. After 9 months,2 of which REO had the car, unable to afford a new engine the car was sold for spares, at a massive loss. Stay away from this company if you want good service or at least a car that works. Now i have No car, can't afford another car due to debt this one has left me with. This business should never be allowed to trade

I attended the sales garage over the weekend to enquire about some family cars. We were greeted by Gareth who made the process simple and ensured all my questions were answered. Cannot thank Gareth enough for sorting a deal and providing me with my first family car!

Brought a car from here in November…

Brought a car from here in November fell in love with it straight away provided a good delivery service that’s about it the car was purchased for £6,000 when I got it it had problem with oil filter suspension and then turbo had gone took it to garage repairs cost £3000 which we’re reluctantly settled in Jan I was with out a car for 8 weeks as it spent more time in garage , still not been right since now has timing chain issue possible under damage to the engine been quoted another £3000 to fix , garage reluctant to fix die to reo not wanting to pay up the first time numerous emails and phone calls never responded never got an apology for selling me a car that wasn’t even fit to be on the road really upsetting that someone would do that not only are you causing financial lose to your customers you are to yourselves in 25 years of driving never had such a terrible car really heartbroken as I now have a car I can’t drive is only worthy of scrap yard I yet to sort out the hassle of the finance I took it out with I will proabley end up with no car now which I rely on as a self employed worker.

Endless Problems

Well, what can I say… the sales was pretty seemless and quick, The test drive was a bit crap, the car was on fumes so couldn’t take it very far. (Maybe my fault and should of asked)
Anyway, after purchasing the car and within the first 3 months the clutch needed replacing at the cost of over £1000 it also needed a new thermostat. 6 months in its back in the garage having a new electronic steering rack fitted again costing £1500. Buying used car is always a risk and I’ve always said, people only sell cars when there is a problem turns out I’m right on the money with this one.
Clutch was slipping from day one but due to the lack of test drive this wasn’t picked up till the drive home. The warranty wasn’t worth the paper it’s written on and I had to settle it myself.

Like I say above, maybe these things are my fault for not picking them up before hand but the symptoms were there to start and not checked presale.

Hi Steve, I have checked your account with us to get a picture on what has happened.

You purchased the car from us on 29th August 2024 and prior to that, you had the opportunity to test drive the vehicle.

You contacted us on 4th October 2024 to advise that you had the clutch and flywheel replaced, where you say it should have cost £1800, but because you paid cash, you had it done for £1000 (That's some huge discount?)

If the clutch was slipping from day one as you suggest, you would have surely told us on the same day, rather than quite some time later?

We advised that we would have absolutely no problem in covering the agreed cost with you and would just need a copy of an invoice for our records. You couldn't provide an invoice or anything that states you had the clutch replaced.

You then sent us a screenshot of a bank transfer of £1,000. However, that was to some personal account with no reference, rather than a business named account.

With all due respect, that could have been absolutely anyone. All we wanted was some sort of paper trail and then we can get our accounts team to send over the payment. But we can't just be sending money over to accounts with no invoices etc.

New car

Absolutely love my new car from Reo car sales I rang up and was on the phone for about 20 minutes because we were at my boyfriends house which is 3 hours away In all fairness with the team they didn't push me or anything was happy to answer any questions after everything I was happy to leave a deposit on my low mileage BMW 3 Series we arranged for me to come down Friday unfortunately I couldn't make it till today but again that wasn't an issue Brandon was able to meet me at 6.30 in the morning which is before opening time but I had to get back after finally seeing the car it was perfect everything was as over the phone and in the advert no faults after seeing the car in person very happy with the car and the service I had at Reo honestly couldn't be more grateful thank you so much.

Just purchased a car from Reo car sales in abertillery after going around a few dealers and couldn't find the right car Alex showed me around and helped me find the right car for me which finally I found the car I wanted he then passed me to leigh who ran me through the paper work and got me on my way in my new car I couldn't be happier with the service I received at Reo car sales thank you so much will definitely be back when it's time to upgrade.

Wasted My Time

I asked to have a look of a car which I was interested through WhatsApp. They agreed I can come over the next day in the afternoon. On next day, I let them know the time I am arriving before I set off they didn’t reply with any issues. At the end I travelled for 1 hour and 15 mins arrived the shop, they told me the car was sold 2 hours ago. This was ridiculous and really upsetting me. Totally wasted my time. Stay away from them. They don’t care customers.

Shocking service

I arranged to purchase a car last week. Deposit paid arranged delivery for the following week, checked 2 days before delivery all was OK, only to replied to by text! Gearbox is broken you "aint" getting it!!
Generally shocking and shabby customer service. Highly recommended you give these guys a miss!!

Hi Richard, I am so sorry that you had a negative experience in buying your car with us. A thorough inspection is carried out on every car before handover with the customer and when the car was given it's pre-delivery inspection, a fault was picked up with the car.

I do agree that a member of the sales team should have called you rather than sending a message.

It's much better for everyone if a fault is picked up before the customer has a car. The last thing we want is to send a car out to a customer and then a fault is picked up or something goes wrong when the customer has the car. If it was something minor, then we could easily get it repaired, however to refurbish a gearbox costs literally thousands as it's a huge job, and not something we would feel comfortable in getting done and then handing over to you.

I am sure you would rather us not sell a vehicle to you that has a fault.

Avoid !!

Avoid !!! Took a deposit over the phone and 24 hrs later the vehicle had a major oil.leak and was told the vehicle would be going to auction. LIARS!!! The vehicle was sold and taxed the following day.. so basically they sold to someone else .must think I was stupid why would you tax a vehicle that's going to auction!!! Done us a huge favour really as who would want to do business with dodgy car salesman like this!!!

Bought a van from REO Car Sales, in January 2025, part exchanging my existing van. Process was straight forward and easy thanks to Garth & Alec. Minor issues with van, quickly picked up and sorted by their terrific and super nice mechanic, van returned back in a few days, they even replaced a back light bulb as well. Would happily buy again from them.

AVOID!!!!

I’m not even sure where to begin with the nightmare experience, I have had with this Garage! I bought a car from Reo Car Sale back in November that I absolutely fell in love with. After purchasing the car, as soon as I drove out of the compound, I could hear a loud noise that I knew wasn’t right. The car was drove straight back to the garage where they identified that a spring had broken. They offered to fix it for free, which I was very pleased about and left the car there for the issue to be rectified. A couple weeks passed, and I picked the car up on the 29th of November (due to the snow & flooding) and for peace of mind I booked the car in for a service. During the service the garage found that there was a crank in the seal that needs repairing & needs a new clutch which surprised me as the car had supposedly been inspected prior to the sale. I then go through the wars with the Warranty company that then refuse to pay out as they state that the fault was already on the car when purchased and so wasn’t covered. I then reached back out to REO Car Sales stating my concern that the car was sold to me with a fault on it and that the warranty wasn’t going to pay out. I emailed them an estimate for the repairs of just over £700 and they agreed to pay it. The car was then booked in for repairs on the 3rd of January and I emailed them afterwards to ask them to settle the bill as my car wouldn’t be released until payment had been made. I got a response from them then saying that Gareth wasn’t in until Tuesday (7th of Jan) and he was the only one with access to the bank to make payments. Tuesday came and I rang the Garage to arrange to pick the car up, but they said that they still hadn’t received payment. I emailed the REO to ask for an update and when the invoice will be settled but never got a reply. After a couple of days of still not having payment, my garage reached out to me to say they would be incurring a storage fee as the car was in the way.
I have now been without a car for 2 months and after numerous emails to both the garage and Gareth’s personal emails and multiple phone calls (which they have clearly intentionally ignored) with yet to get a response, I have unfortunately had to reach out to my solicitor to take them to a small claims court which will put me out of money anyway even if I can get my money back.
I write this as a warning for anyone thinking of purchasing a vehicle from this garage and urge you not to, as one way or another you will be out of pocket! I just wished I would have read the reviews on here before I even thought about travelling down there in the first place.

Called in to have a look at a Golf and came home with it!!
a fantastic service and Leigh was the perfect salesman, not pushy gave us as much time as we needed to view and test drive the car. all in all a very professional service and highly recommended.
