The experience I had with the resume writing group was excellent. My resume writer Amy B did a wonderful job of making me stand out on my resume and cover letter. Plus she revised it when I had additional information to add and she was very prompt. I highly recommend this company for your resume and cover letter. Thank you Amy B.

Buyers Beware

Response to the Company’s Reply:

I stand by my review. If this company had the professionalism to put half the effort into dispute resolution with clients as they do defensively disputing negative reviews, they would have no issues to defend. Unfortunate missed opportunities for them.

To reiterate, my initial concerns were stated clearly and repeatedly. The company chose to go on the defensive (just as they are now) and was simply never interested in correcting the issue for me as the client. The unprofessional tone in their response is exactly the way they responded to my initial feedback. Not surprised.

For clarity: I did not ask for— or expect—a brand new resume. I purchased a revision of my existing resume. The only thing that is accurate in their response is that there were no issues with the original resume (why I went back for the update). Unfortunately, the second experience was very similar to all the other negative reviews for this company. They have 8 complaints filed with the WI BBB.

What I paid for vs. what I received: I paid $80 for a “revision” of my resume. What I received was five bullets copied and pasted exactly as I provided them—no rephrasing, no improvement. The Career Highlights and Summary sections were not updated to include the new information.

What a reasonable “revision” should include: Rephrasing/elevating my bullets for clarity and impact. Integrating recent achievements into the Career Highlights and Summary sections. Delivering edits that reflect the quality advertised for a paid revision.

How I tried to resolve it: In my initial instructions, I explicitly asked that my bullets be reworded, not merely inserted. I communicated that a simple copy‑and‑paste does not constitute a revision. I did not receive an apology or a meaningful fix.

Inaccurate claims in the company’s response: The claim that I wanted or expected a new resume is false. I requested a revision of my existing resume. The claim that they “tried to get information from me for five weeks” is simply not true and an obvious attempt to offset this review. I provided clear direction at the outset including in my initial feedback upon recieving the "updated" resume.

This company has not acknowledged that the delivered work did not meet the standard they advertise. THAT is exactly why I think customers who are in the market should research and choose a company who will stand behind their service.

Outcome: I hired a different resume service after this terrible experience (one that is BBB accredited) and THAT company rephrased/improved my original bullets and updated the highlights/summary with my latest achievements. I continue to use and recommend THAT company to this day. Unfortunately, I simply cannot recommend Resume Writing Group. The way they handled the issue was actually worse than the "revision" they tried to pass off.

Bottom line: Charging $80 to copy and paste five bullets is simply not a revision - no matter how much this company seems to think it is. It was a poor experience, and the company did not stand behind its work. Also, if you are going to respond to reviews, please base that response on facts and be honest. Try taking responsibility for the situation instead of trying to discredit a client who trusted you. This was such an easy opportunity to correct a bad experience and turn it into a good one but they chose to fail - twice.

**Fun fact, I posted this review so long after because I deleted them while cleaning out my bookmarks and remembered that I never left the review they deserved - until today. :)

Initial Review
It was unusually difficult to find where to leave an honest review; the company does not appear to use Google Reviews, which is concerning. I hired this company to revise my existing resume (not to create a brand‑new one). I supplied five bullet points with professional updates and expected them to be rephrased and integrated. Instead, the final document copied and pasted my five bullets verbatim—no wordsmithing, no recommendations, no added value—yet I was charged for this “revision.” That is not a revision; it’s data entry I could have done myself.

When I raised these concerns, the response was defensive and unhelpful. I was effectively told to “go ahead” and leave a review, rather than offered an apology or a meaningful fix. To this day, they have never even admitted that there is a problem with copying and pasted 5 bullets, charging $80 and calling it a revision. They simply didn't deliver the quality advertised. As a result of their poor customer service, I had to hire another company to fix their "work."

Bottom line: Based on my experience, I do not recommend this service. If something goes wrong, they do not stand behind their work, and there’s no recourse for the customer. Buyer beware.

At Resume Writing Group, we strive to provide exceptional service to every customer. Please note that this customer, Ms. Lewis, used our service 3+ years ago. Yes, you read that right, she is so upset about the $79 update we did to her resume that she is leaving a review shouting at us in all capital letters three years later...

A quick run-down of the situation for anyone who is interested:
- Ms. Lewis originally purchased a new resume from our company which we created for her without issue. This was in 2021.
- She then came back and ordered a resume update, in 2022...
- The purpose of our resume update service is to update the previous resume we created for the customer - hence why it is aptly called a "resume update".
- After she ordered, our team spent the next five weeks trying to get her to tell us what she wanted. After five weeks of emails, phone calls, and text messages, we finally gave up and updated the resume based on the extremely limited information she provided.
- Immediately after receiving the updated resume, she then came back and literally
**screamed** at us that we just updated her resume and didn't create a brand-new resume for her. Our staff then repeatedly tried to explain as politely as possible, while being screamed at, that she had ordered a resume update rather than a brand-new resume. We then offered to make revisions to the resume for her and rather than work with us on the revisions, she called us a scam and said she was going to dispute the charge.

Again, keep in mind that this is after our team spent five weeks trying to get information from her.

At this point, we're very sorry that this is still bothering Ms. Lewis three years later, and we wish her al the best in her future endeavors.

As it has been a while since I had to put together a resume, Amy was patient with my questions, listened to my concerns, then took them and incorporated them into the final documents and was able to put together a document that really showcased my experience and skills.

I was very impressed with the team at Resume Writing Group. My handler/writer Ryan worked at lightning speed to produce a an appropriate, thorough, and impressive rewrite + redesign of my draft, and then was on call all day for me, making minor edits until I was 100 percent satisfied. I would have submitted a much poorer representation of myself, and likely would have missed the deadline. I don’t know what I would have done if not for Ryan and team. The price was very reasonable, much to my relief. I got the job

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! THIEFS!!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I hired them to do the Indeed profile and application process. I was very clear in what I wanted for applications and based on my resume the industries I wanted them to apply to. This company applied to only 8 out of the 10 AND EVERY SINGLE one had requirements I did not meet. Example: I do not have a PMP certification, but yet they applied me to places REQUIRING this. They also input skills in my indeed profile I never stated I ever had. I requested a refund, and they strongly refused, even after all the evidence I provided. If you want to burn your money, take it in your back yard and light, it on fire instead of giving it to them!

REPLY TO THEIR REPLY:
1) Communication of the 3-7 business days came only after I engaged in a conversation with them a few days after my order. Let me put the timeline into place. I ordered the service on a Thursday and was told I would hear from someone within 48 hours who would reach out with questions to answer via email. I waited 72 hours (Monday) and did not hear from anyone. Therefore, I WAS THE ONE who had to reach out to them and received a status to which they told me 3-7 business days. Yes, I was a little impatient because I was given the perspective of a different timeline. I was willing to wait until Friday (8 business days). I waited until Friday, had nothing and AGAIN I HAD TO REACH OUT TO THEM. I asked when this would be done and they had a different timeline recorded although the order was ordered on a Thursday, so the countdown started then. Finally late Friday I received the questionnaire and then Monday (9th business day) to which they quickly "finished" the service. Again, the order date doesn't lie, and I was fine with it taking a little longer for quality.
2) The "hours" they claim they answered my questions is completely false. Yes, I asked via their chat lots of questions, but it maybe was 45 minutes of time on a chat. Also, if this was such a big deal, then they should have stopped me and said "These types of things would be included in a service". I was not stopped or asked to direct my questions elsewhere and they kept answering, so that is not on me. Yes, they offered a refund once they communicated the timeline, but as previously stated, I was willing to wait to hope for quality over speed.
3) There claim to say I was open to other positions and roles again is false. I filled out the questionaire which was the data THEY requested for the Indeed profile service and the information they were to take to redo my Indeed profile and apply. My words per the email are " I would love to break into a different industry, but in this job market I am not targeting to do that." This CLEARLY states, "I AM NOT TARTGETING TO DO THAT".
4) This skills claim is also false. The service was described to me that they would completely redo my Indeed profile to be strong for hiring managers and recruiters. I would not falsely represent myself by putting skills I don't have. I am trying to find a role, not get burned on one. They took over my profile and added lots of skills I never had or communicated I had. They also had my resume, which they re-did to reference. Example "construction experience" was added as a skill. If they claim they didn't put this skill in here, then they should have deleted it as part of the "profile service". I never worked in construction and do not have those skills so it was not input by me. I hired this company to do as they told me and "revamp my entire Indeed profile". Then they claim some 70/30 rule to which I only heard about AFTER I wanted a refund for the lack of quality of service and falsifying my information. They can send articles about this 70/30 rule, but guess what I HIRED THEM BECAUSE I AM NOT A RECRUITER. Why would I know this rule? I asked for where this 70/30 rule is in their guidelines and then I was given the line of "we are done with this conversation, and we provided the service and will not continue the conversation" My account was suspended at that point. They knew I caught them doing shady work and they can't prove otherwise so this is how they treat a customer who paid $130 for the service and is out that money.
5) I can count via indeed and Indeed tells me they only applied to 8. I guess Indeed is lying too.

This is the final thing I will say. This company seemed fine as yes, I did hire them to redo my resume, which went fine, but was done by someone else at the company. This Ryan person I experienced this service with clearly doesn't read answers to questions or have the care to follow up with a paying client to clarify anything before applying or inputting skills. It is a service that you answer 5 questions about what you are wanting in a role to which I detailed out. Then they make assumptions without follow up. I am out $130, luckily not more. Don't be someone who falls for their lies, I should have got more in writing.

We aim to please every customer, and we went above and beyond to attempt to please Travis with his project. Unfortunately, in some cases, it simply isn't possible to please everyone. Here is a run-down of what took place in this situation:

1. Travis decided to add our Indeed Profile & Job Search Optimization search to his resume order after receiving his new resume. At the time, it was communicated to Travis that it would take 3-7 business days for this portion of the service to be completed.

2. In addition to providing this service, we also spent hours providing free advice to Travis on job searching, LinkedIn profile writing, and countless other questions that he wanted our opinion on. In addition to this, we received numerous messages complaining about the slow turnaround for the job search even though we were well within the advertised 3-7 business day turnaround. At this point, we offered to just refund the service for him because we were fairly certain that he was determined to be upset no matter what was provided; however, he insisted on continuing with the service.

3. As part of the job search process, clients set a salary range, tell us the type of positions they're interested in, and the positions they would like to apply for. Travis specifically told us on several occasions that he was open to other roles and positions. Unfortunately, after we applied to positions meeting the specifications he originally stated, he then came back demanding a full refund for the service - conveniently after we had provided it.

4. Travis was advised repeatedly that the skills in question were ALREADY ON HIS PROFILE and that we DID NOT add them. He was also told that like nearly every single recruiter on the planet, we use the 70/30 rule for requirements, which means that we determine a role to be a match if the applicant meets at least 70% of the requirements. But don't take our word for it, there are numerous articles on the subject: https://resources.workable.com/stories-and-insights/70-percent-rule-of-hiring
https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditForGrownups/comments/zwk0gw/should_i_bother_applying_for_a_job_where_i_dont/

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/job-hunting-why-70-rule-could-your-zgelc/

5. We applied to 10 out of 10 roles - and Travis was specifically told this, so it's simply a flat out lie to say we only applied to 8.
