Having had many 'Strat' type guitars over the years and never really bonded with them, even a Fender Custom Shop one, I was still looking for 'the ideal' one. Budget became an issue, less than 1k, wanted HSS as well. After many hours mulling over online reviews and You-tube videos, and not having the energy to trail around guitar shops, I decided on the FGN Odyssey Standard. A quick chat online with Jon found they had a Charcoal Grey one in the shop, my second choice colour but went for it. Asked for it to be set up with 9's with 'a nice easy low action, was told no problem and no extra charge for the strings'. I was in no hurry for the guitar and sure enough it was worth the wait. The guitar arrived the day after notified of dispatch, well packed in a large box, in its gig-bag. Perfectly presented with no finger-marks, or marks of any sort, it was indeed set up with with 9's, Daddario's, not my usual make but fine with me for initial 'running in'. The guitar was well set-up, apparently not in-house due to Covid related reasons and selling lots of guitars! The action wasn't quite set to my idea of a low action, but this is all very subjective. The neck needed a little adjustment a day later but easily done, being used to messing around with guitars not an issue for me. See a separate review for this great guitar elsewhere but I'll mention the lack of Allen wrenches for lowering the bridge posts and the string saddles. I had them anyway collected over the years but this is disappointing FGN? There was one for the Truss rod which a lot of people won't touch but that was it, most guitars of this price would include the saddle and post keys as well. Anyway, this is my first purchase from Richards. Would I buy another? The price of this was certainly the cheapest I found even with the extra postage cost and you get his reputation behind the purchase. I've read the FGN's come from the factory superbly set up anyway so maybe there wasn't much to do to this one, but I can see myself buying another from him in the future, especially if it's a budget type guitar, or an Eastman, Gordon Smith or such like. 5 stars from me first time round.

Had been yearning for a faith blood moon guitar for quite some time, but having to virtually live in work I have little time to discuss at length on the phone my requirements. This is left up to my wife, and the only one she will deal with is Richard.
He always has the time to listen to her and will bend over backwards for a customer and help and advise in any way he can.
Received my guitar today, perfectly set up and safely packed. Beautiful to look at and even better to play, and a strap to match.
This is my third guitar I’ve had off Richard and it won’t be my last.

I have watched many video reviews of various acoustic guitars but narrowed it down to Seagull s6 but after watching Richard compare the two I was amazed at the difference. The Eastman sounded so much better that I ordered one straight away. Updates on the progress of my order and when it would be shipped were very good.
The guitar came setup lovely and is so easy to play as the action is perfect. This is a welcome extra to have that all important setup on a new guitar thrown in for free. A solid wood build with an ebony fretboard at this price is ridiculous. Many thanks to Richard and the team - one very happy customer 👍

I recently bought an Eastman ActG1 from Richards, and previously a Simon and Patrick 12 string. Both times I was kept fully apprised from start to finish. The guitars were set up perfectly and packaged really well. I trust Richard’s opinions on guitars and would not hesitate to recommend his business.

I created a complex situation for Gordon Smith guitars and Richards Guitars which they sorted out quickly and professionally and the quality of fit and finish of the guitar is beyond anything ive seen

I made an appointment to visit the shop as I wanted to purchase either a Les Paul or a Strat and wanted to try them out before purchase. Initial phone contact was handled by Rikki who confirmed they would provide a selection of guitars for me to try and also that they would be able to do a setup on my existing Vintage VRS 100 whilst I was in the shop.
On arrival at the shop I was met by Jon who made himself available to answer any questions I may have but also allowed me the freedom to try a variety of guitars on my own which was much appreciated.
Later in the afternoon Richard walked in and we had a pleasant chat over a coffee.
Can’t rate the team highly enough, top bunch of guys and my new Tokai arrived beautifully setup the following week.

Having decided to buy an acoustic guitar instead of yet another electric I wanted to see what the best guitar I could find for £200 was.

I happened upon Richard's YouTube vid answering just that question. As I had previously owned acoustics and a Lag electric I was aware of what price / quality was available with that brand.

The personal and genuine aspect of Richard's videos and the free proper setup sealed the deal.

The Lag T70a is a nice bit of kit. Far better than the price tag would suggest.

A nice afternoon was had collecting it from the shop in Stratford too. Some famous poet fellow came from there allegedly.

After initial difficulties over some queries I had over delivery/setup,I had a good chat with Richard about the wondrous Furch 2018 Ltd.Ed. I bought from him.Where else do you get to speak to the head honcho like that.Thanks Richard for your time and turning what might have been a negative experience into a very positive one.

First time ordering a guitar online. I knew before hand delivery would take a while as Eastman were redesigning their guitars and Richard was waiting on new stock. I ordered the Eastman AC322ce. Delivery took about five weeks and the communication from Richards team was good. The guitar is a gem and the set-up perfect. I will use Richards Guitars again.

I have only given 1 star because its not possible to give less. After a 2 week wait for a guitar they had in stock. I Finally received the guitar where it looked like someone had tried to take the frets down with a floor sander and removed wood from the fretboard, not evenly all the way along just in 1 area (2nd.3rd & 4th frets) After raising a polite email to complain, I dealt with Richards polite staff who excepted the issue due to the very clear photos. Then Rguitars got involved, asked me for feedback on their service where I told them the guitar was very nicely setup but , there was no "Custom Pro" certificate promised in description, no "Custom Pro" decal promised in the description, no tools for maintenance and the neck pickup was also wonky. Rguitars told me this guitar was the best example of that brand of guitar and bang in line with what I should expect (bear this in mind guys you should expect missing wood from fretboard apparently). Anyway after a slew of patronising and rude emails. I eventually got my money back but they refused to refund the postage £15 as they said there was nothing wrong with the guitar. Its a shame I cannot post photos on here. Worst guitar buying experience of my entire life.

UPDATE I got a replacement guitar from from another shop (this was after Rguitars told me they couldn't get a replacement, the other shop got me 1 in 2 days later) It was perfect, no issues whatsoever. New shop informed me he had to take the fret edges down as they were sharp, fortunately he didn't use a Floor sander.

23/6/20 Called Rguitars because I genuinely wanted to take down this review and leave it at that if only they listened to me. Rguitars didn't I stand by my original review posted above. Having an actual conversation with Rguitars is impossible

Sigh! I wish Rguitars would just leave it (Rguitars re-edited the response again on 14/7/20). Not fiction at all, Rguitars is a rude and condisending person that gets aggressive and nasty if you have any concern with what has sent out to you no matter how polite you are, I'm not the only person that's seen this side of Rguitars a simple Google search will serve you all well. I don't doubt he ships out many beautiful guitars but woe betide you if there's an issue. Also the distributor was top notch I basically managed to recoup my postage money that Rguitars refused to refund via a nice free Leather strap. Well done to the distributor. The new guitar (exact same make and model) is excellent, not via Rguitars.

Also be prepared to be called "a moron" "an idiot" and "pathetic" if you dare to question a poor product Rguitars sends out, Rguitars will also attack your personal life as if that person knows you or anything about you. It's quite scary really.

Whilst I was somewhat hesitant going with a Dowina guitar, as that was a manufacturer I wasn’t familiar with, I put my faith in Richard having watched a number of his passionate YouTube video’s demonstrating their fine sound, craftsmanship and value for money.

The guitar arrived in perfect condition with a great setup and plays like a dream.

Really like what Richard Guitars are doing around promoting non-mainstream guitar manufactures highlighting real value for money and hand craftsmanship that simply cannot be found in this country short of paying 3K+.

I even asked for the pickguard to be removed and strings replaced which a set of my preference and was easily accommodated with no fuss.

Now have my eye on a few more Dowina models as well as one or two Auden’s that look very good too. One can never have too many guitars !

Personally I would highly recommend Richard Guitars and will certainly be doing further business in the future. Many thanks.

I came to Richards Guitars as a complete beginner - i did a lot of research into what style of guitar i would like to learn and where i should get it from... kept coming back to Rguitars as their site was so user-friendly, and enthusiast-friendly. I would have visited the shop as am fortunate that I am just about 20 miles away, but Covid put paid to that... however, the service from Richard and Teresa was great... they were in contact with me throughout the process, letting me know what stage my order was at, and when i could expect to receive my guitar. They set the guitar up so it is good to go from the start and will play as best as it can, which was much appreciated.
I am very happy with my guitar, learning slowly but surely, and also appreciate greatly the after sales service that Richards guitars gives... videos available to help you along.... you get the feeling that through RGuitars you are part of a larger community of enthusiastic and helpful people.
I would highly recommend them.

Hi. My new danelectro 12 string arrived this week. Guitar was set up with very comfortable low action & was even in tune . Brilliant service Thanks to all at Richards guitars.

Richard was great... great advice given over the chat and at a weird time of evening but Richard answered! Following on from this I went with Richard's recommendation.

Yes you have to wait about 10 days for your guitar to arrive but this is the difference from buying from Richard than buying from a high street shop! The process Richard and his his team put the guitar through is what every guitar should go through but most people just aren't going to pay to do this to a cheap guitar, but love the fact that my new Furch guitar has.

I thought my cheap Yamaha was good, and for a mass produced guitar it is pretty okay, but when you put it next to the Furch then you really see the difference.

Looks amazing, feels great, especially as the Grand Auditorium is slightly smaller than my Dreadnought and this makes it much more comfortable for me, and the sound is amazing.

Loving it and constantly picking it up.... thanks again Richard.

I bought my guitar online , and was kept informed at regular intervals as to how my order was progressing through the stages the shop goes through to ensure that my guitar was as good as it can be , which it is ... any issues now are down to my ability to learn how to play .

My experience with rguitars has been first class from start to finish picked my guitar from a review by Richard and I am blown away just how good this guitar is I am a beginner and had a cheap guitar this Eastman guitar with the professional set up it is so much better and easier to play it has given me a real Boost to learn the guitar thank you richard

good experience, very attentive owners and responded to my questions promptly. product was to my mind excellent for the price i paid.
Will use again. Just wish i lived closer so i could pop in every now and then and drool.

Having got it "wrong" in the past I normally would no longer buy any instrument without getting 'hands on' to try it first. But, based on reviews, youtube videos & comments etc. I placed my order from Richards Guitars despite the store being far to far away for a 'quick visit' ... and a visit being out of the question anyway given the current COVID situation.

And, I wasn't dissapointed. Yes, the prices are slightly higher than other online stores and yes, you wait a bit longer than "next day" online stores. But, regular email updates keep you up to date on wait times and the customer service and set up was excellent. Way over and above any previous experience of 'online/next day' service - Like walking in and chatting to your friendly local guitar store you can discuss and get your new guitar checked and set up your way, with your preferred string gauge / action etc .. the folk at Richards Guitars were super helpful and the guitar arrived set up as discussed and ready to tune up and play with no niggles or adjustments.

If you have to buy un-seen - this is the way to go.

The guitar wasn't in stock and I had to wait two weeks for delivery BUT I was informed of this straight away and offered an alternative if I didn't want to wait. I'm guessing they would have refunded me if I was in a desperate hurry but I was in no hurry.

When the guitar arrived at their shop (on the date they said it would) I was pushed to the front of the queue for it to be serviced. I then received an email telling me it was ready to be posted. It then arrived incredibly quickly and the guitar is a beauty !

Very happy with the purchase and the recommendation from Richard was spot on!
