Facilitating a subscription scam
Part of a subscription scam using Direct Debit mandate when you think you're making a one-off payment.
- Tell your bank to immediately refund all payments under the Direct Debit Guarantee (even if they use different account names/accounts for different payments). “This Direct Debit was set up under false pretences and used for unauthorised subscription payments. I want an immediate refund under the Direct Debit Guarantee.”
- Report it to Action Fraud and Citizen Advice.
In my case I paying a dupe P&P (£8) on toiletries that was used to charge me a fitness subscription (£70/month) via a separate (this company, legitimate?) company handling the subscription billing.
