Don't try to speak to registry or…

Don't try to speak to registry or expect a reply to emails sent. My son was happy at Roehampton had outstanding teaching and pastoral care at a difficult time for our family throughout his degree. This 1 star review relates solely to the Registry team once he was an EX student last September post graduation. The time of being utterly ignored ran between his graduation in September when the first of several calls were made - none received a call back, and through 3 (again completely ignored) emails sent in September to November the last being on 13th November.
His original degree certificate had arrived torn by Royal Mail bending and tearing it as it went through the letter box. He made a complaint to Royal Mail and we tried to get hold of registry - as advised on the covering letter with his original certificate which gave their contact details for queries You can buy a new certificate for lost or destroyed certificates but there appears to be no provision at all for replacement of a damaged original received immediately after graduating, and which I had assumed might be replaceable on a simple re-issue basis as in effect he had NOT received a smart, usable, or frameable certificate.
We tried to get an email confirming he'd have to pay for it to supply as evidence for compensation from Royal Mail but no reply to emails or telephone answerphone. I know AI is set to take people's jobs and the whole point of employing people in my view is exactly because they ARE human and can communicate sympathetically and with sensitivity. But with Roehampton uni's Registry Department I think you would be be better off with a chat bot - I have had better and more sensitive responses from phone company chatbots than this admin team. Roll on AI!
Sad because if this review had been for teaching staff it would be 5 stars.

I Wish they was an option for zero stars. communication is zero! Since year 1 an i am now in my final year and communication has gone down the hill . you can be on the phone line for 10 years no one will ever answer! its terrifying ,would not recommend anyone to go there , you have to pysically go on for someone to even listen to you , half of the time different ppl give you different information , they all seem very clueless ,honestly going through my worst nightmare at the moment for someone to click and confirm my attendance not sure how many decades i need to wait . I will stop here for now .

This uni has some interesting courses

This uni has some interesting courses. The main campus is beautiful. My main point: it exists. But then a strange thing happened. I applied to do a certificate course. Even over the weekend the course leader answered my questions encouraging me to apply which I did. And then communication stopped regarding course details etc. this became stressful so I reached out to her. No reply. I tried to call the university operator at different times. No one picked up. The way they treat serious students is wrong in my opinion. This was my experience and it was very unpleasant. Who knows really what’s going on there:) I withdrew and thankfully did not pay a penny as yet.

I think this University should be…

I think this University should be investigated or the chairs of the University should critically investigate the activity of international admission Team including the CAS Team. The two departments are as dead as death. Very irreposnsive, docile, and definitely ineffective. These people mess my niece's application up. Despite paying the deposit and even paying the additional fee as requested by them, still they did work on the CAS until the deadline had passed and no one even thought it necessary to reach out to her. I had to call and email the University a millions times on my niece's behalf all to no avail. Till this minute the £3500 i paid is still with them, and I even requested for the admission to be deferred, yet no one is responding. This is not a University. This is something else. It is sad and pathetic

Rude and incompetent staff

The accommodation staff and the senior accommodation finance officer are rude and not trained to respond professionally, either by email or in person, and I have so many proofs. You don't ever get a proper greeting by email, might as well tell me to f off. They never offer alternative solutions, as if they don't want to help students. When you call the night security guard for an issue, it looks like you're disturbing him during his tv show. It's really sad.

Don’t touch this university …

I started an MSc degree at Roehampton in September. I had met with the course coordinator before signing up to ensure my needs could be met. Within two weeks of starting, the course coordinator had resigned and numerous staff were no longer able to offer studies initially discussed. I had paid for the entire course upfront. Communicating with Roehampton has been an absolute nightmare making a stressful situation far worse. They have eventually refunded half my fees but have so far refused to refund the rest even though the course changed. I would never advise anyone to attend this university

A terrible university

I had an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience with the University of Roehampton.

I ordered a replacement degree on November 1st, which was crucial for my visa application and required for notarisation and apostille.

After waiting over ten weeks, I discovered the document had been "lost in the mail." This already unacceptable delay was made worse by their complete lack of accountability or communication.

My emails have been ignored for weeks, and when my notary called them directly to follow up, they were shockingly rude and aggressive, treating what is a simple and legitimate request as unreasonable.

Instead of providing solutions or taking responsibility, they made me feel like I was the problem.

This has caused immense stress for me and my family, jeopardising my visa application and potentially forcing me to leave the country.

Their indifference to the urgency of my situation is appalling, and their behaviour has been nothing short of unprofessional.

If you’re considering dealing with their administration, be warned: you may be ignored, mistreated, and left with unresolved issues that could have serious consequences.

Avoid dealing with them if you can. Absolutely unacceptable.

Stay away from this School

I have never seen a more irresponsible school in my life. They had no proper record of my CAS interviews and i had to repeatedly take the interviews. After a long period, the admission was declined. For months, i have been trying to get a refund of my initial deposit to no avail. Calls are no longer picked and emails are no longer replied. When calls are eventually picked, one gets cut off the line immediately you request to speak with the finance department.

“I have never encountered such a poorly managed university in my life. I’ve been struggling for over a year now to get a refund, and it has been an incredibly frustrating experience. Despite countless emails and phone calls, I have not received any response or support from their side. The lack of customer service is astonishing – no one seems to care about the students or their concerns.

I feel completely disrespected and ignored by the university. My attempts to reach out, both through visits and follow-ups, have been met with dismissive attitudes and empty promises. Each time I go in person, they simply take down my details, and I leave without any real updates or progress. It’s been months, and I am still waiting.

This whole experience has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. I would advise others to think twice before trusting this institution, as they clearly lack professionalism, respect, and basic care for their students. My advice: avoid this university if you value your time, effort, and peace of mind.”

Horrible immigration staff

The immigration team is the worst. Firstly would like to talk about 2 rude woman - Paula and then Jocelyn. They have their attitude as if we students are her slaves and we owe them. Jocelyn shouts at students, not only me but others too. She keeps eating on her desk and delays the process. I even told her I need to go to class and she was like “we are your sponsor and you do what I say”. Thats how she speaks.

University needs trained, qualified and professional staff.

Roehampton is a Kafkaesque Nightmare

The teaching in the faculty of psychology is mostly good, occasionally excellent, but the university's administration is beyond dreadful. It has been an extemely stressful and unpleasant 3 years for my cohort, having to combine our studies with repeated formal complaints. It began with not being able to pay our fees because the system wasn't set up to work. Hours on hold, day after day, just trying to pay! Then, there was no willingmes in the department to produce reading lists prior to weekly lectures. As part-time mature MA students, the one day in advance of lecture reading list rule isn't sufficient, especially when even this isn't adhered to. This was a repeated request by each new cohort - the result? Utter intransigence and disregard.
The supposed anonymity in marking is a joke, what with the first three letters of the student's surname appearing at the front of every essay. That doesn't feel great when you are the course rep whose role it is to make complaints.

And the complaints! My cohort was overcharged by £3000 each. When this was pointed to everyone/anyone in the faculty, it was denied and ignored for well over a year. Finally, a formal complaint and threat of legal action resulted in an inquiry and the full reimbursement of the excess fees.
And that's just the start. Every academic year began with the hours-on-the-phone-trying-to-pay ritual. A finance department that obstructs payment - imagine that!

The minor inefficiencies and annoyances go on and on, far too numerous to go into here. But the hell that is the end of the course is extra-special. Having completed all the modules necessary to pass, one might reasonably expect to have one's degree awarded and be able to register with one's professional body and begin work, right?
Wrong. First, the successful students were lumped in with resits and told that all of us who finished in July would not have our Awards and Progresdion Board until the end of November. The course leader had the gall to say that this was not a delay at all. The only possible reason for this delay is to make life easier for administrators - sod the students - they just pay the wages. So - another formal complaint made, and hey presto - suddenly it IS possible to hold our APB in September after all. What a relief! But not for long. Don't forget the ineptitude of the Finance Department..As I write, they have decided, entirely erroneously, that most of our cohort owes the universiry money. We do not - we are all fully paid up. The advice our department offers? "Get in touch with the Finance Department to sort it out". So, for those of us who try to do as suggested - two hours and 15 minutes on hold before having our calls cut off. Repeatedly. This happened to every one of us who tried to call them. Unsurprisingly, given the thousands of students whose lives they make hell who are desperately trying to pay their course fees/sort out the errors on their payment records. Why are we expected to waste days and hours of our lives pleading for them to correct their errors? Theirs is an ineptitude that I have never encountered in a first world institution before. So now, with our putative clients/employers beginning to think we are far too problematic as potential employees, given the endless set-backs and delays, yet another formal complaint has been lodged and we can do nothing but pray that someone inside dysfunctional edifice thsat is the University of Roehampton will notice and do something helpful.

This is the 4th University that I have studied at and far, far and away the least organised and worst. It is particularly galling, and a great joke among my peers that the University websire proudly boasts that it is "UK top 10 for Postgraduate Student Satisfaction" - that's only because their student satisfaction questionnaires give no opportunity to comment on administration.

46 students embarked on my course in 2021. Only 15 or 16 of that number are graduating. Some left with a PG Dip after year 2, saying they couldn't bear another year of being treated with such disinterested scorn. Others left to fimish their MAs at rival universities, and they report having had a MUCH better time elsewhere. A success rate of about 35% can't be something to be proud of.

If amyone asks me about my experience at Roehampton, I would say "Avoid at all costs" - It's a complete nightmare.

Absolutely awful University

Absolutely awful University. Would strongly and I EMPHASISE, strongly dissuade any international applicants from approaching them unless you have spare funds elsewhere as if your application gets rejected, they WILL withhold your deposits. And you will find yourself in a very precarious situation whereby you are left absolutely sickened from the lack of contact and poor response. And for deposits that run into several thousands, just wave goodbye to any plans of pursuing your studies unless you have spare cash elsewhere. Very tough for international students who often have to work really hard to find these funds in the first place. One could argue they are quite discriminatory as it is impacting people from often poor backgrounds from pursuing their studies.
The University needs to be really ashamed of themselves and what they are putting people through. Absolutely shameful

This is among the worst international university I have come across, they treat international applicant with disdain. I have been requesting for my refund for pre-cas interview according to their terms and condition for months now, no response. Communication is Zero, attitude of their staffs are unprofessional.
Its very disappointing and devastating coming across this university.

Disappointing Experience at Roehampton.

As a student at Roehampton, I regret to say that my experience has been far from satisfactory. Here are some of the issues I’ve encountered:
Lackluster Facilities: The university’s facilities, including classrooms, libraries, and recreational spaces, are outdated and poorly maintained. It’s disheartening to see such a prestigious institution fall short in this regard.
Ineffective Communication: Communication from the administration is often unclear and inconsistent. Important announcements get lost in a sea of emails, and students are left in the dark about crucial matters.
Underwhelming Support Services: Whether it’s academic advising, mental health resources, or career guidance, the university’s support services are inadequate. Students deserve better assistance during their academic journey.
Overcrowded Classes: Large class sizes hinder meaningful interaction with professors. It’s challenging to engage in discussions or receive personalized feedback when you’re just one face in a crowded lecture hall.
Attendance Confusion: The university fails to provide clear guidelines on attendance policies. Students are left wondering whether attendance is mandatory, how it affects their grades, and what steps to take if they miss a class.
Financial Burden: Unexpected fees and hidden costs have burdened students financially. Transparency regarding expenses is sorely lacking.
In summary, Roehampton University has failed to meet my expectations. I hope these issues can be addressed for the benefit of future students.

REJECTION OF APPLICATION UNACCEPTABLE recently applied for an MA course via…

I recently applied for an MA course via their online portal. I uploaded all my documents as requested and two referees provided excellent refs. My work history over many years directly evidenced my relevant for the course experience ( Counsellor and Support Worker in Mental Health ) I made several calls and sent several emails as by March this year had heard nothing. Got no replies Then i looked at my online account and saw one word "rejection" I sent an email asking for the reason. By return i received what looked like a generic response cut and pasted stating " you did not meet the basic admissions criteria " I was shocked as my degree, counselling diploma, work experience met the criteria and more. I have since emailed the pgadmissionsteam simply asking them to explain in which way i did not meet the basic criteria. Have had no response whatsoever. I can gracefully accept a genuine reason for my not being offered an interview but their explanation was just insulting. Does anyone know Who i can contact in the PG admissions team ? or the Dept of Psychology to request the honest explanation.... Is it my age, the fact that im not going to pay as much for my course as an international applicant might. If so then the process is highly discriminatory....
Angry but have other options and Unis to try for next year
