I visited The Run Company Southampton on 25 May 2026 to purchase running shoes. I was advised I would receive a 10% discount on a £140 pair of shoes. No other items or costs were discussed.
At the point of payment, I was presented only with the card machine total. No itemised breakdown was shown to me. The itemised bill was placed inside the shoe box.

I later discovered I had been charged £193.46. Which is £74.95 more than I agreed to, for a Footbalance insole I did not knowingly purchase.

When I raised this via email after I left the store, the store confirmed the prices individually but maintained the charge was valid. After several weeks of correspondence, I was offered only a refund on the insole with a credit note for the shoes and not a full refund.

I have formally requested the preservation of CCTV footage from the time of the transaction and have escalated this matter accordingly.

A business that prides itself on customer service should ensure every charge is clearly communicated and agreed to before payment is taken. That did not happen here.

I went to the Run Company Southampton to get some new running shoes and to get my gait tested. From the minute we entered the shop to walking away with my new shoes and customised insoles, Adam's customer service was spot on. He was polite and friendly, took his time explaining things and offered as much advice as possible to help with my decision making. Thanks very much Adam!

Item purchased was soiled, unattached tag, box ripped. Issue raised unhelpful and trouble with the company not providing return/ QR code. Very unhelpful company. Not happy. Won't recommend.

Wow, love this shop. After booking a gait analysis appt at a well-known running shop near here, and being thoroughly disappointed (would not do analysis, only 1 pair of trail shoes available and monosyllabic shop assistant), I googled next nearest run shop which was the Run Company In Southampton. Greeted with a smile, an immediate offer of gait analysis and then clear and helpful advice on the various trail and hybrid shoes they had in stock, as well as others they could order if necessary, this was a breath of fresh air. Went for a run this morning with my new hybrid trainers and they were brilliant. Thank you Run Company!

Wow! What a knowledgeable man runs this shop. He was able to recommend exactly the best shoes for me, following a diagnosis of my feet and a practice try on the treadmill. Probably the best sports shoe service I have ever experienced. I would definitely recommend for any type of sports shoe/trainers. Competitive prices as well.

I'm by no means a runner but at 58 I need to get fitter. Having driven a desk for years being generally unfit and having Osteoarthritis I needed advice on shoes that would offer support and cushioning so popped in to the store in Queens Road, Brighton. Was greeted by Anna who was really interested, listened to my needs and offered me a gait analysis.

Bear in mind I am hugely overweight, Anna took me to the treadmill where I envisaged collapsing in a hyperventilating breathless heap within seconds; I didn't!.

The gait analysis video told me I needed a neutral shoe, I also have a high instep so something supportive. The real highlight for me was a colleague of Anna who said the video showed that I was a natural runner, great calf definition and I looked majestic when running which I had great pleasure telling my wife when I got home, me, majestic!!

Jokes aside, I really felt understanding and meeting my needs was the priority for Anna, there was no rush. I was anxious about going in as I'm so out of shape but there was no judgement. I came out feeling valued and inspired.

I am still bowled over by the service I recieved in the Brighton shop. I wish I had asked the la dy her name but I was in the shop on Tuesday 8th July so she knows who she is. Her patience, kindness and knowledge were in abundance. I have very painful feet due to morton's neuroma and she found for me the perfect trainers after trying five different ones. The man that was serving other customers was also very knowledgeable and patient. Thank you again.

They really know what they are talking about and got me fitted with a shoe that provides the correct support for my flat feet.

Ellie was an absolute Superstar 🤩

My wife booked an appointment to have her feet analysed and Ellie took the time and consideration to explain the process and answered all of our questions. She then explained the results and made positive recommendations for a range of running shoes, which she then showed my wife, who tried them all on and redid the tests to see any improvements in the gait analysis and one pair clearly indicated a positive improvement. At no point did Ellie present any ‘sales pressure’.

I didn’t consider to have any gait issues and when I was offered the opportunity to have my feet analysed, I stepped up; looking at the video analysis and gait calculations I do have a mild gait deficit, which was unexpected, but clear to see.

My wife and I both purchased suitable running shoes to alleviate our individual gait issues.

We would recommend the overall service.

I went to the Chichester store today to enquire about trainers for my long suffering Achilles problem. They were so very helpful and i tried on several pairs of trainers and was shown video footage of my over pronation. I ended up buying a pair of Diadora trainers, which were in black as they are day to day trainers and I didn’t want bright colours. They were extremely helpful and i would highly recommend this shop. I will return. Thanks again.

Purchased an item online - a day later I was told it was out of stock and to be refunded.
A week later I haven’t received the refund, and chasing up with customer services I was told there is ‘nothing more they can do’. Massively unhelpful and quite frankly a rude reply.

Walked in to the store in Chichester with my wife looking to buy running shoes & clothing, we are both in our 50s, On entering the shop in Chichester, we were the only two in there, no hello or welcome from the two staff working there, no can we help you when we were browsing lifting clothing of the racks, A younger person walks in & gets star treatment, we walked straight out, very rude & unprofessional, disgusting service, went elsewhere & spent £335 on a much better service, shame on run company Chichester 4th August

Visited the Southampton store and was helped by lottie. She was really informative, friendly and went out of her way to find me the perfect shoe, even letting me test it out on the treadmill. Would definitely recommend visiting this store as my experience was great and thank you lottie for your help!

Shout out to Lottie in the Southampton store. She did a gait analysis for me and I had great fun learning about it all. The shoes I bought have completely fixed the pain I was experiencing and the compression sleeves she recommended helped my shins recover in no time. A huge difference, thank you so much!

Went to the Southampton store for gait analysis and new pair of shoes. We were served by Laura who was excellent. She helped me find the perfect pair of shoes.

I visited the Woking store to use their gait analysis and buy a pair of running shoes. Karl was incredibly passionate and informative and helped me with what pair was best suited for my running style and feet dimensions. Would definitely recommend visiting this store if in need of a new pair and are unsure on what to get!

Visited the Woking store on Saturday - looking for new walking trainers as mine were old and past their sell by date. Excellent customer service from Carl, he was knowledgable and patient.

They use a Video monitor on a treadmill to check gait and foot positioning pre and post trainer fitting to help identify the right shoes. Could see my right foot was turning slightly outwards (which probably was the cause of my knee pain). This enabled Carl to identify the right type of shoe.

Would definitely use this company again - highly recommend!
